gosh, what a throwback. one of my favorite kitchen table decks (when I decided it was ok to buy singles for casual) I referred to as helmline depthsmage, it was before dauthi voidstinker or thespian's stage came out, it was just hexmage/depths and leyline/helm, and I ran 4 diabolic tutor and 4 damnation

Hey Bryant, I don't understand how you didn't have the win at 28:35. Can you explain? From what I see, you can mople, dark ritual, beseech, beseech, will, mople, mople, dark ritual, beseech, tendrils which is 20 damage I feel like I have to be missing something though because you're the expert on this deck

I think you cant cast the second beseech since mople does not tap for mana

⁠@@TheEPICStormoh I see it now. But would copying the vault of whispers with thespian's stage not give you exactly enough mana then? Copy vault Add 1 with mople Cast and add 1 with second mople Dark ritual Beseech for will Mople and tap Mople and tap Dark ritual Beseech for beseech for tendrils

The fact that this went 4-1 surprises me, because it looks very clunky on a mulligan to 5 or 6. My first reaction was "wow this reminds me of DDFT from a decade ago", but a Doomsday / Storm hybrid doesn't really play anything like a Turbo Depths / Storm / Helm hybrid deck lol. I feel like the Helm combo is probably the weakest link game 1 if you're not against Reanimator or Dredge, but I don't know what you would replace it with main deck in case you were to say move it to the sideboard.

Round 4 game 2(28:24) opponent was at 18, so I think you had the tendrils kill: opal, legend ruling the other opal (1), ritual (2), beseech bargaining opal (3), gaea's will (4), opal (5), opal (6), ritual (7), Beseech bargaining vault (8), Tendrils (9)=18 damage

Looking at merely one new card per turn seems to be this decks' downside, especially when the opponents got to do such unfair stuff as playing Brainstorm, One Rings, fetch for surveil lands and whatnot. I dunno, maybe squeeze in a couple of Nights Whispers, One Rings of your own, or - dare I say it - Necrodominances? You're here to lose a lot of life to your own cards after all.
