This Tarn/Bludgeon mold is one of the few times I accept the fake tank-treads thing... (The ones on Armada Optimus drive me insane because, unlike this figure, they would have been completely unaffected by all the transforming XD) Anyway, I don't have Tarn, but he cool and cracking review as always! ^^

He is great. The slimness always felt odd; if any figure was to have a chunky backpack, it would of worked on this. I only saw him in the wild once, and made sure I scooped him up!

In my AU, both Tarn and Jhiaxus are major big bads of the post-war arc. They partner with Shockwave to create the New Decepticon Order, employing the Stunticons and some bounty hunters to fight against botht the Autobots and the former Decepticons.

I too, forget about the weird shoulder joints when I notice the bicep swivels. But that's because the bicep swivels on my copy are loose (especially on the cannon arm, unfortunately) and they annoy me even more than the shoulders do. Never got around to tightening them for whatever reason

You mentioned popping off the small guns, but not only that, they can be slid into his hands with the thicker bases being 5mm, making for small batons!

Black Mamba DJD-01 did a superb job in embiggening him. I never even saw a tarn, so had to go 3P. He got Leader-sized, lost the evofusion, but gained lights in his cannons.

@Vangelus does not ~seem~ to work. I have 0 desire to try and force it. The pegs exist, and the barrels are open...but it isn't a smooth insertion. I've learned bot to force it. Not without lube. I don't wanna lube Tarn's twin cannon.

My problem isn't the vehicle mode, or even the fists. It's the lack of wheels. Even CW Devastator, with all of its compromises (still a great set IMO) managed to get rolling wheels into Scavenger and Bonecrusher's alt modes. He still poses and looks good though; I have the Bludgeon version of this mold.

what an excellent review, i'm glad to see someone dig into what makes him a good figure beyond the surface-level strengths he displays! also, 100% agree with that headcanon, though I personally can't help but display him with Shokugan Modeling Project DRAIAS as a hunter and his pack beasts.

And so we have come in full circle on what Vangelus teased Super7 Ultimates! Banzai-Tron review. i admit though that was expecting Vangelus to say that Legacy Tarn's transformation has some similarities on MMC Kultor's transformation. I admit that while I still wait to have Legacy Tarn, Bludgeon is something I would also like.

Really wish Tarn was bigger. I can understand not giving a high-profile character a coveted Leader-Class spot, but Tarn really needs to be bigger. That said, Voyager Tarn works well as the "Ultimate Decepticon" Troops from cyberverse. And WHY do so many Legacy toys have such long legs?!

i was kinda bummed out about the size too but considering that IDW tarn is supposed to be slightly shorter than megatron (who is also a voyager) it unfortunately had to happen for the sake of scale which is something that hasbro is putting a lot more effort into as of late

I saw this guy at target last year and passed on him because I thought the character was a bit too edgy and over the top (but my only experience with the character is with ‘The Basics’ so I’m not too well versed). Since then I’ve seen reviews of this figure and the design has really grown on me, to the point where I regretted not getting it when I saw it. Thankfully I snagged the preorder for the new 4-pack coming out, even had a coupon for it.

@@Vangelus Not saying this to bash either toy, but as someone who owns MMC's Tarn, the transformation looks surprisingly similar. I'd even go as far as to say the only significantly different bit is in the unfolding of the shoulder treads.
