One thing I really loved about TF One's Sentinel was how he's EXCESSIVELY shiny compared to the others. Like, Elita was the shiniest of the main 4, showing that she values making a good appearance, but Sentinel reflects light in every scene he's in. Even his sword is clean enough to be used as a mirror!

Pretty sure that Sentinel Prime's design in DotM was meant to be Alpha Trion, but Bay decided to call him Sentinel Prime. In the original G1 Sunbow continuity, Sentinel was the leader prior to Optimus. He was killed by Megatron. He was not a bad guy, just the leader that came before. In other continuities, this predecessor leader is also Zeta Prime.

The comic Sentinel Prime is not a retcon. He actually is the first Sentinel Prime and he was literally created just to die and give Optimus the Matrix. Also not a jerk. U-Haul Robot is a Retcon cause he was NEVER named in the cartoon. He only became Sentinel Prime YEARS later. Zeta Prime is also a retcon cause he was never named as Sentinel Prime in the games. In fact Sentinel and Zeta were originally intended to be two totally seperate characters. The problem is the totally NOT aligned universe named two different Primes as the Matrix barrier immediatly before Optimus so they had to retcon in Sentinel Zeta Prime as the full name of one guy who were originally meant to be two entirely seperate people. Zeta is also not a jerk. It's weird that Sentinel has become known as the evil jerk when actually that's not the case across the board. Animated is a jerk but not actually evil. He is still ultinatly a heroic character with good intentions he's just full of himself. Dark of the Moon is actually legitimatly evil and they tried to make him a doing the wrong thing for the right reasons type of character except his character motivations really don't make any sense. And Transformers One... well you said no spoilers but you kind of did give away spoilers just by implying he was a jerk. If you don't go into the movie expecting him to be a jerk the twist at the end works a lot better but as soon as you tell people he's a jerk you've just spoiled the whole movie basically.

Might be recency bias just like TFOne cogged Megatron, but TFOne Sentinel Prime is my favorite design. It’s a great blend of past Sentinel Primes into one design and I like the B.D.E. Jon Hamm gave him in the movie. Honorable mentions would include WFC, his main Animated designs before season four would’ve happened, IDW with the staff, & DotM.
