I will never forget the day I got him. I went to GameStop to pre order a game and I looked back at the transformers. I saw he was packaged without his chest piece and I thought that was wired. He marked it down 10 percent. I still felt bad when I got home and realized his chest was separately packed

Me, I always associate Gears with his brief but memorable team-up with Spider-Man back during the OG Marvel run: wrecking the shit out of Ravage, Rumble AND Soundwave before Megatron pulling the rug (or solid metal base floor) from under him. Old Webhead was even repulsed by how little the Autobots seemed to care about their diminutive comrade's apparent demise, not realizing they can just repair him. As for the figure, I quite like my own copy myself, probably one of the best deluxe minibots of recent memory. Kinda wish the chest piece could swivel around for truck mode and reveal some rear detailing, but I've seen worse robo-kibble on alt. modes of figures double his price. Currently I'm displaying mine with one of those Jada Toys black Spider-Man statuettes, though it'd be nice to finds a similarly small figure of him that can still pose somewhat.

The thing that always stunned me about the Animated figures was how they managed to use the irregular geometry and engineering to make show accuracy function solidly. The old animated line is the ultimate falsifier for any Hasbro apologists claiming they can't make show accurate stuff at budget. Seriously, that line alone shows that they can indeed meet the challenge when they give even one steamy log of a crap. Glad to know that the chest panel is boxed as an "accessory" as the local Walmart has him but I feel a lot of people will give pause getting him as it really does look like someone stole the chest through that stupid open window the Bors of Has won't let die. lol

Multiple people in this comment section, have told me that they didn't grab the figure because they thought the chest had been stolen. At least one guy thought the chest had been packed separately but had also been stolen, because he expected in the front of the box next to the figure.

I have always had a soft spot for Gears. When I was a kid, I've read all of my dad's old Marvel Transformers G1 comics (which I still own) from the 90s (they were translated and released in Poland in the 90s after the fall of Communism) and my favorite one was always the one where Gears teams up with Black Suit Spider-Man. So while most people forgot Gears, he was always at the back of my mind. Can't wait to get this guy. Love your videos too and it's fun to watch you talk shit about toys like a madman at times.

I like how the the heels work om this figure, cause the peg ports in alt mode becomes a spot to put stuff on the roof and in robot mode they become the typical ports on the bottom of the feet so you can still slap some shoes on him or something

Can agree, great figure. I picked him up at a mall store with the usual markup and absolutely don’t feel overcharged. I also just got the Go-Bots Guardians three-pack GS set, and the Gears-based Small Foot is definitely the standout, especially being the only one of the three with a remolded head sculpt, somewhere between the original eHobby toy and the show model. Oddly, despite being sold in a closed box, her chest plate is still in a separate accessory bag.

Backorders hit this guy hard as I had him preordered the same time as Sandstorm, and while I've had him months ago I'm still waiting on Gears to ship/arrive. This is the perfect update to the G1 minibot, one of the few G1 toys alongside Brawn, and Warpath I actually own. I felt last years Brawn was pretty amazing and Gears is the perfect addition to that updated G1 lineup so many collectors are building up. Really hope we get an updated Cliffjumper out of the 86 Bee mold.
