Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is an action-adventure video game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive. It was released for the PlayStation and Microsoft Windows in 1999 and for the Dreamcast in 2000. As the second game in the Legacy of Kain series, Soul Reaver is the sequel to Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Soul Reaver was followed by three games, one of which, Soul Reaver 2, is a direct sequel.
Taking place 1500 years after the events of Blood Omen, Soul Reaver chronicles the journey of the vampire-turned-wraith Raziel, lieutenant to the vampire lord Kain. Raziel is killed by Kain, but is revived by The Elder God to become his "soul reaver" and to exact revenge. Raziel shares this title with Kain's sword, the Soul Reaver, which he acquires during the game.
Crystal Dynamics began development of the game in 1997, but a deteriorating relationship with Silicon Knights, who had developed Blood Omen, created legal problems. This and other delays forced material originally planned for Soul Reaver to be instead released with later games of the series. Soul Reaver was generally well received by critics and praised for its intriguing gothic story and high-quality graphics. However, the game was criticized for simple and repetitive gameplay and an unsatisfying climax.

yes and there is strong evidence that a new game might be in the works, due to the franchise popularity and fan demand. I remember playing it on my brothers ps1 back in the day and now on GoG, though it has temporally been removed the others are there

I remember learning that if you don't kill any humans in the main story line when you get to the Vampire Worshipers city you can fead off anyone, and they will willingly let you do it!

I remember the game in 4K, even though I know for a fact the TV I played the game on was a used one that used to be at a weather station, and was so old it had a dial, and I needed a special adapter to play my playstation.

This was my fav RPG game of all time, I'm surprised they never remade it, the storyline was really unique in comparison to other vampire games, the playstyle also very unique and to this day, no one has replicated it, again to my surprise. I miss these types of games, there aren't many that I know of, one can only hope one day we get a similar one or at least a remastered version of it!

A great game, though I had trouble getting past the graveyard where Duma was, I believe it was, still a great game sad about the ps4 version, I wonder if we'll see anymore games?

Don't play it like this. This attempt at widescreen has zoomed in the whole frame and effectively cropped the amount you can see a ton, to fill in the aspect ratio. But even comparing it to my gameplay, it's not only vertically, but even horizontally cropped

It runs, I still play it frequently, so at least in Windows 7 it runs smoothly. It required replacing the main executable with a fixed one, though.

Emulation of the Dreamcast version is definitely the right move. Redream is a awesome emulator and the entire interface is controller compatible I just put it on my TV and kick back
