@6.8SuperDutyDriver6 жыл бұрын
The shorter "short action" rounds like the 223 Rem need that block at the rear of the magazine. If you use a regular 308 length magazine, the smaller rounds and follower can move back and forth in the mag. and the bolt can have a hard time catching all the rounds. Found this out the hard way. My son put a regular mag. in his 700 BDL 223 and it would only cycle half of the rounds. Legacy should've at least made it the standard 223 length though.
@vogelmotors75034 жыл бұрын
There are several different caliber kits in this line. There is a specific .223 version available (and in the similar Magpul kit), the proper kit/magazine would alleviate this issue.

Thanks for the upload, really helps us all out with pulling the "trigger" so to speak! Few places I've found that actually sell the Metal Base/Guards are all on 6 months back order right now. I've watched both videos a few times, first video you read off specs 45ilbs for the torque specs. Noticed you mentioned, you just didn't go crazy tightening it down an were going to torque it at a later date. I'm fairly newer to rifles, is there a rem700 spec those screws have to be torqued down to? You're obvious walking proof that it's all capable, just curious if you ended up torquing them down or just a firm snug?
@3142992 жыл бұрын
I've not yet purchased an inch/pound torque driver so I've been going with tightening the screws to "snug/firm but not excessive" tightness. That is terribly unscientific but it has worked for me so far. The same approach has also worked for a buddy of mine who has been using these kits on his hunting rifles using the same approach, and he hunts his gear pretty hard. As for a bipod I would recommend a Harris S-BR or S-BR2, the swivel feature is great for uneven ground and Harris makes an excellent product that will outlast the Asian mad copies.

I have had two Styer SSG rifles, sold them both because of the cheap plastic trigger guards braking. At the time in the late 80's and early 90's the trigger guards were over $100 with shipping. Nice rifles, However, I was insulted paying over $100 for a cheap piece of plastic. Was it special imported plastic?
@3142996 жыл бұрын
Those SSG's were expensive rifles, I always thought they were quite good looking. Other than the trigger guards being crap what did you think of them?
@Thorsaxe7776 жыл бұрын
They were both in .308. Best accuracy was with Palma 155 gr bullets and 42.6 grs of H4895. (I believe because of the 1-12 twist). I don't think I will ever buy another one, However they are well made and durable. Minus the trigger guards. If someone made a aftermarket part that would replace them made out of metal, I wouldn't think there would be much more wanted from a quality built rifle. Your Mod 700 is more of a bargain. everything is made for those and they have a proven track record. Thanks for the Video. Dave.

The scope is a "Bushnell Elite Tactical LRS 5-15x 40mm". I picked this as I have had good experience with the Bushnell Elite line of scopes, they are Japanese made, good quality, reliable and have a lifetime warranty if needed. The 5-15 power range is a good fit for use with a .223 bolt action, not too much power at the low end and at the high end decent out to the 500 yards that it gets used at.
