Missing secrets: (1) The Bishui Cave has a deeper ice section. While fighting the Bishui Beast you need to let it fire attack the ice wall behind it, which will open a passage you can go through. Inside you can find more loot including an Awakening Wine Worm and resume fighting the same boss in ice mode which is easier. (2) You can buy a Celestial Ribbon from the Bishui Cave shrine. Shrines in secret areas sell different items.

Something minor you missed, and I can see as easily missable: "Top Takes Bottom, Bottom Takes Top" Spirit. After Zhu Bajie knocks the giant Iron Ball off the edge, you can return to the Emerald Hall shrine and go the normal way you would. You'll see the Iron Ball near where the Bull and the Revenant are held up, and can obtain its spirit from there.

probably because other people are doing the playthroughs. This secret series seems to be a missmatch of different playthrough and hastily edited videos with some people being very good or others very bad. If you do the bosses in the order they said, you will struggle a lot

Missed a secret that's spirit related. After getting past the iron ball gauntlet if you head back down the mountain you can find the smashed ball at the bottom and claim it's spirit.

after the chapter 5 cinematic. if you dont do that secret area for doing the bull dudes questline, the narrator after that end chapter cinematic when you can inspect the painting before moving on, heavily suggests you mightve been too hasteful with completing the chapter and hints that maybe if you had done the bull questline first before the end chapter bossfight; that maybe there couldve been a different outcome where piggsy "baije" doesnt come save us from that fire blast after the 2nd phase of the fight. this game is full of unexplored secrets and i love it

I know a lot of people have already mentioned they missed the Ma Tianba quest, and I don’t wanna pile on but I ended up missing out on his quest chain too because I didn’t know I needed to find him in every chapter leading up to this. also in your chapter 4 video I ended up missing out on rewards from the scorpion lord and the other boss from the secret area because you didn’t mention killing The Duskveil would lock us out of getting those done. Would just like to say for future series if you’re gonna include tips about rewards/bosses/etc and they’re missable, because certain actions are taken out of order, I think we’d all really appreciate knowing that as we play. Should mention that the Ma Tianba quest is missable. You have to meet him in each chapter before beating that chapters final boss. If you get to chapter 5 without doing this, the whip won't be in the cart and you can't go back to reactivate it. *edit: You can still go back to previous chapters to progress this quest until you beat "Keeper of Flaming Mountain". I tested this in NG++ by going back to chapter one after each cart and boss fight. IT IS STILL MISSABLE.

Crazy man i beat the gold cart on the 1st try. The Bishui beast took me about an hour. Only beat him with the horse whip transformation building up my electricity power attack. That did a ton of damage in an area continuously and that beast moved relentlessly, never left but a mere moment to get one or 2 attacks in. Ridiculous fight

The fireproof mantle (vessel-equipment) will allow you to walk on lava When activated it grants fire immunity to fire attacks which a few bosses here have

Don't lean on the gourd to avoid lava, just use the fireproof mantle from chapter 1, it makes you immune to the lava, and lets you basically ignore a lot of what the bosses in this chapter do.

Something minor that needs to be corrected is that with the bull kings armor set you can craft three peices in one playthrough cause the arms and legs only cost 1 of the bull kings iron horn to craft. so you can craft 3 in the first run to only need to craft one in the second. It is just a minor correction but just noticed it.

A thing to add on to the Bull King's Iron Horn, you can actually craft 3 pieces if you want to. The arm and leg piece each cost 1, so you can craft them and then choose between the head and the chest piece if you want.

If you haven't already, be sure to exhaust the dialogue for the bull vanguard captain after each cart boss. He will be where you first met him after the first fight. Talk to him there, then follow the path at Emerald shrine to that boss and he should be there. Exhaust that dialogue too and the last one should spawn.

Regarding Dark Thunder Spell: I don't know how I screwed up the order but now that I've beaten the Keeper of Flame Mountain, going back to the whip, I find that the whip is missing and no longer there. I wonder if it's because I didn't interact with it enough times before moving on the Keeper fight. I only remember pulling 3 times on the whip. Any thoughts from the community on whether this is fixable? I've ran back through every chapter but I can no longer spot Ma Tianba where he should be...

If anyone beat the secrect area boss first, then trailed back through the broken ice wall and got stuck at the boss arena like I did; just use your Ruyi Scroll item for a free teleport out! (this applies pretty much anywhere else in the game too; if you need a rest, just use the scroll!)

Just teleport to the last shrine in the secret area cave (should be Shrine of Fire and Ice or something like that); then you can back-track through to get your goodies and explore the area. As for breaking the wall yourself? Try a few things: 1. Use the Wandering Wight spirit to try and crack the wall 2. Use your Ring of Fire spell, see if that causes a reaction 3. If neither of the above work; try different spirits/transformations with fire attacks

There is a Secret Armor set in the final area after Chapter 5, the set is named exactly the same as the Wukongs set you are collecting from the Beasts it is hidden on mountain in a chest behind you as soon as you get the flying cloud (Nimbus). it looks like the concept art from 2 years ago.

After the cutscene where the spike ball goes off the cliff, if you travel back to the Emerald Hall and go back up the cliff you can find the spike ball embedded in the cliff wall. You can loot the spirit Top Takes Bottom, Bottom takes Top from it.

The rusty cart was super easy. Cloud step right away, then pluck of many then immobilize. Then Mobile spin it to max, slam, repeat because your monkeys will probably freeze him again. If you use falcon hermit powered up it feeezes him again and you can just rip him up again. As others say, there's a couple missing secrets or quests.

You can also take “top takes bottom, bottom takes top” spirit if you go to the part where you fight yin yang fish you’ll see the spiked ball down there and you can grab the spirit.

Another important drop that should be mentioned is the Thunderflame Seal curio that drops from the Flame Rhino Master (one can be found at the Rakshasa Palace just before the Giant Earth Rakshasa). This curio increases mana by 30, so pretty big drop for monkey mages like me who use spells a lot.

killed the last boss in Ch 5 without realizing it was the last boss. So glad we could come back to do the secret area sections afterward. Ch 5 is more forgiving than Ch 4 when it comes to their secrets.
