Congratulations on being South Dakota residents. I grew up and lived in SD for 21 years and went to the Black Hills many times, but never made it to Hot Springs...LOL! Thanks for showing a bit of the town!

How do RV registration costs vary from state to state? Unlike the US, it feels in many ways that we are the Divided States of Australia. Here in Queensland, we pay US$1100 a year for registration for a 3 axle 40-footer. That includes your third-party insurance (I think you call it bodily and property liability insurance in the US) which is mandatory here. In Victoria though you can register a similar 25-year-old bus RV for about $200 a year, and in NSW a pensioner can get free registration on their second vehicle (RV, boat trailer etc.). We're really enjoying your videos. Take care.

Good to know they are still so cool about everything. They were pretty cool about everything back in the 80's and early 90's also. One of the nice things now is that you can fill in all us old retired drifters, that have said screw this crap again, lol. Half of what I knew is either changed, or simply gone. Keep the info coming. A lot of us I am sure are using it, or soon will be in order to return home. Thank you folks.

I have to jump in here and tell you how much we LOVE your channel and your journey, we just acquired a 1983 MCI M9 greyhound charter bus partial conversion started that had been sitting for almost 20 years. The previous owner was meticulous and had great references but we have never attempted a project so big. You have paved the way for us that are just beginning, thank you thank you thank you. What a blessing you both are. Very special souls that I hope we get to meet in person someday. We too will be starting a youtube channel called dreamweaver adventures with Steve and Terri. Have a blessed day!! Looking forward to more of your videos always.

What is the benefit of becoming residents there as opposed to the state that you have been living in for the past few years, aside from the fact that they do not have state income tax?

Table Mountain... While I'm American, I have family in Jo'burg. We met one year in Cape Town, and yes, took the cable car to the top of Table Mountain. It's beautiful there, I loved it. When I first started watching your channel I noticed a slight, non-American accent. But South African?? That's LONG gone. Thank you for showing how easy it is to go the South Dakota route. I chose Florida then formed a Montana LLC for vehicle registration. In hindsight, yours is the better course of action.

Curious as to why you did not use the home base where you built the bus? As MCI bus conversions ourselves today we checked out a mail service for a home base address.
@Rehabit82 жыл бұрын
We don’t live at the address where we built the bus. Although we have family there we didn’t want to burden them with dealing with all of our mail and we wanted to be sure we never miss anything important with our registrations and God forbid we ever get a traffic ticket or toll ticket we want to make sure we can always address those in a timely matter.

Those "burr things." I feel ya. Got them all over my property. It would be impossible to even guess how many I have pulled out of my feet, my wife's feet, even the dog's feet. and we've lived here eight years. Nothing we can do seems to get rid of them. Just be sure that, when you leave your campsite, you don't take any with you. It would suck to step on one a month down the road!

What do you do about RV insurance, since you did the conversion yourselves. I almost bought a transit bus, but my insurance company (car and home) would not insure it, so I didn't buy it. I like your videos, gets me wanting to hit the road.

Excellent video. Just one warning for folks. If you ever want to purchase a firearm (or get a carry license) you cannot do so with a PMB on your driver's license. You MUST have a physical address. South Dakota does have a legal method for you to use another person's physical address (with their permission of course).
