LEGAL Overnight Off Grid Park Up - Scottish Borders

She's finally agreed! A night spent off grid in the wild not on a campsite and Caroline actually agreed. Exploring the Scottish borders in our campervan and staying overnight in the forestry programme for a nominal fee made a great nights stopover in lower cheviots on our way to a longer stay.
Join us this week as we try off grid camping in the UK not on a campsite for the first time and also as we explore the beautiful town of Jedburgh, come rain or shine!

Your first night stop over looked great, and probably one of the best kept secrets .... until now that is. A beer review with your breakfast would certainly have not been appropriate. Perhaps the Scottish beer review is next week' I am already looking forward to your update.

Great trip! Wow it got cold then! One of my projects is to look at refurbishing Jedburgh town hall which you can see in the clip at the top of the road in 16:35 in the video!

Another excellent video. Amazingly we were there the day after for the farmers market and parked in the same stop. luckily we had the sunshine. We agree with Caroline and cannot see the attraction of wild camping.

Another great one, shame about the traffic on the journey up. The off grid looked nice and still something we haven't done yet. Jedburgh looked lovely even in the rain. Big oops getting wet but mollie looked cosy in the dry bag thing 👍. Thanks again

We live 3 miles from where you stopped, walk our dogs here every weekend! Lovely spot! Not too level there, spot up the hill more level. You probably went past our house near Bonchester Bridge en route to Jedburgh! We are on a 6 month motor home tour so we’re not around early August to bump into you on our dog walk, maybe next time!

Brilliant viedo with recommendations for Forestry and Land areas un Scotland. Towards the end Melrose was mentioned, you've probably been there now and I hope enjoyed it, one of our favourites, lovely little village also and walk by the river.

Looks a nice place to stop - we’ve not tried one of the forestry ones yet so was great to take a look and sounds like everything was good. Nice to see the stars without light pollution isn’t it. Thank you both 🥰 we were surprised at Jedburgh too, always used the bypass driving past but well worth a stop 😁 We didn't get up that far sorry, we turned off to Melrose from St Boswell's but hope to be back soon so any recommendations most welcome 😁 The views were nice but on a clear day definitely think we could have seen much more as it was very high up - will have to return, good excuse 😂👍

The forestry stay the night at Black Loch and Stroan Loch are fabulous. There are lovely walks around to the waterfalls at Black Loch and the otter pools at Stroan Loch.

Wanchope is just a few minutes from where we live so we have not stopped there but we do go walking the dogs in that area. Melrose CAMC is open all year which is really good as you say.

Its money for old rope and also most people in vans don't leave rubbish and often leave places better than they found them. @@VantasticAdventures I think the more you do the safer you feel. That said we both agree, we would always choose a legit pub stop over a park up as we know beyond a shaddow of a doubt then that we are allowed to be there 😊 I do prefer permission to playing in the grey 😂

Hi both great video. Been following your site for a while and am now seriously looking at trading our VW California for Adventure mainly because of the addition of toilet. Your 3yr review was really helpful but a quick question...what's your thoughts on the automatic? You seem really happy with manual but have you ever thought you might have added that option. Know its really a personal preference but interested in your view after 3 years ownership. Many thanks Steve & Helen.

Hello and thank you for your lovely comments 🥰 the toilet was exactly the reason we went for the Adventure as originally wanted a California, great van too 😁 Not really considered an Auto until very recently, our cars are Autos but didn't really need on the van until Iain had a knee problem and couldn't drive a manual for a few months, an Auto would have been fine so for the next van we will consider just in case but the manual has been great up to now and was easier to get availability too 👍 good luck with your choice, any questions please let us know 😁

Hi Marc, we noticed the same on the sign but it does say on the website at the very top of the page 1 night only, guess there's nothing to stop you moving between sites and if not full and paying sure they would be fine with that 👍
