The war on drugs was a disaster. Like prohibition. If people want to use drugs let them but don’t reward them with free medical care.

The Opium Wars were two conflicts between China and European powers that took place in the 19th century: First Opium War Fought from 1839 to 1842 between Britain and China, this war was triggered by China's efforts to enforce its ban on opium. The British responded by sending a naval expedition to force China to pay reparations and allow the opium trade. Second Opium War Fought from 1856 to 1860 between Britain and France against China, this war resulted in China being forced to legalize opium.

I remember in the 1980’s my brother saying” but if they legalize weed, everyone will smoke!” And I replied with “ everyone already does.. people who smoke already smoke , people who don’t , don’t.

From my experience, an eighth of some dank weed was $60 in 2000 and is now $80. Less then a 1% rise annually. I quit smoking cigarettes ten years ago and this helped me with other inflationary pressures as well as implicit savings from unrealized health care costs.

This segment could be shorter and sweeter: Government should be given ZERO Regulatory Power...thank you.
@cf2851Ай бұрын
Legally, Washington only has the authority to regulate commerce "among the states", not among the people. We have a good Constitution and we should use it.

Government is a crime against humanity, that's why they all fail eventually.
@patted44Ай бұрын
@cf2851 Yup! And "regulate" meant that the price, quantity, % tax remain the same as you trade between the states. It wanted to make trade "regular". It has nothing to do with regulating products and services and businesses!

Legalized marijuana should also be diverting some people from using more dangerous drugs like meth or fentanyl.
@huemann7637Ай бұрын
Nobody would even want meth or fentanyl if they could buy cocaine and opium at the store.

this is a common problem among humans-- Most think they are better than the next. On the surface it seems true to many. But this may be because we don't experience what others have experienced. When one has been living with much free time to learn and explore, and has been taught good habits by another....then after 20 years they look at the world around them and say to themselves "how can those people be so foolish?" They often don't realize all the factors that got them to where they are, and the factors that shaped other people. Freedom and protection of life liberty and property are possibly the most important factors. So when "the elite" think they need to control the world, maybe they should consider the world will take care of itself if we all agree to only protect the individual rights of Life Liberty and Property. This will then allow creativity and talents to rise above, paving the way to a better world for all. Without tyranny and wasteful theft, and requiring people to be responsible for themselves, the incentives align that encourage but not force people to cooperate with each other. People will have the time to create. Naturally some will appear to squander their time but this is for them to decide, and they will have to face the outcome which may or may not be bad. Those that make terrible choices will mostly fade away, and the wise will continue on....leading to a stronger more adaptive society. The stronger the society, the more people can and will help those in need.

Rather weakly stated and totally missing several major economic and legal arguments. Is this why the show is called minor issues?
