I am also visually impaired with limited vision and I use a white cane,I have never had any help with my very low vision loss in elementary and high school, and the teachers and school board never told my mom that there was a cnib foundation help for me during my years in school until after I graduation from high school in 1984,so my education was very hard for me to do,I only got basic learning during my school years.I started getting lots of help with the cnib, learning how to use my remaining low vision, using a white cane with an o&m mobility instructor, lot of eye operations over many years with ongoing eye problems that have stablized.I have learned to use different devices to read and see better even though I am visually impaired with limited vision and adapting to my impairment and shortness disabilities in our world,I am as independent as I can be with some help when I need it.I do not work because I was never given a chance to work and I live off of a disability funds on a monthly basis which is tough on me but I get by living my life and I find ways to face my challenges etc.that make me happy.I love and enjoy watching your video

Thank you so much for sharing! And I am sorry you didn't have more help in school, it's not how it should be for sure…

You are inspirational and I thank you for your outreach! I believe being adaptable and pivoting is so crucial to maintaining good mental health. I find that walking on a treadmill satisfies my need for speed and compensates for the slowdown that I’ve personally experienced. Keep it up and I look forward to future content!

I am happy for you that you didn't have a lot of problems in school other than the incident you referenced in your video. For me, my middle school years were HELL! Rather than working with me to make the minor modifications I needed, many of my teachers would actually send me to In School Suspension/ISS. Yep. And because my school had a policy that mandated Out Of School Suspension for students who were in ISS for more than 5 days in a given term, I was actually once suspended from school simply due to my visual impairment!!! I hated that school, and often cried out for help, but not even my parents would help

That is terrible, I am so sorry you went through that!
