I really like that they didn’t go the route of having Elle ruin Vivian in some way. They were rivals over Warner but Elle just tried to show her own good attributes rather than taking Vivian down. A lot of movies would have had them fighting over him and Vivian would have to “lose”. Instead they both win and become friends.

Fun fact! Elle needed a 175 on the LSATs and a perfect score is 180. She almost got a perfect score and only missed a few questions. Also Fashion Merchandising is a business degree, so not as easy or frivilous as they make it sound. I love that she was always smart, but she decided to channel it into a different direction. Also love that almost all the girls are shown to be very supportive and kind to each other. The sorority ladies were all on board immediately. Vivian was being fed ideas by Warner im sure, but even she turned around and was super nice.

She needed a 175 to pass but got a 179 so she got an almost perfect score. That just shows that she actually is really smart and this is what she's supposed to be doing.

Realistically, Elle would be an obvious admission to Harvard, aside from the video essay. Most grad schools, including law schools, genuinely don't care about what your major was in undergrad, and they do kind of get a kick out of bragging about what weird majors they've turned into their own students. When i was looking at vet schools, they bragged that they've had people who studied cello and computer science in undergrad graduate from their vet school. It's like they recognize that most people don't already know exactly what they want to do for the rest of their lives when they declare a major at 20 or 21 years old. Being president of a sorority is also genuinely looked upon favorably because it takes actual leadership to coordinate a chapter of a nationwide organization. And a perfect score on the LSAT is a 180. Elle got a 179. That is an extremely impressive score.

Right. I was specifically told when I was applying and writing my essay that they want students who will hang in there and graduate and get a job, because that is taken into consideration in determining ranking and funding. Not to mention that Elle still would have to have taken all the core courses in addition to the fashion and businesses courses and she carried a 4.0 GPA. That is nothing to look down your nose at.

That is true about not knowing what you want to do for more people than not. I was on the other side. When I found I could do math problems in my head in the 2nd grade, I knew I wanted to be an accountant/business/finance person. And I had that desire all the way thru graduation of college. Got a job at Charles Schwab after 8 years at a local bank and moved up quickly to AVP. But a vacation of riding with my friend who drove a semi-truck across the country, I found my real desire. I quit my job where I was about to be appointed partner and got my Commercial license and for 15 years, I didnt even feel I was working. Life is funny. But I AM a truck driver..it is who I am..but dont regret my first 20 years in finance, but just found something more fun. And if you hold a CDL and dont have accidents, you can work for anybody you want..that job market is always hiring. I recommend getting one and keeping it current even if you are working in a different field. Maybe that job market is shaky..if it gets tough, you have a backup job immediately by just applying.

Since the law encompasses nearly every single aspect of life, varied backgrounds and areas of expertise are actually encouraged. Knowledge of fashion would certainly benefit anyone specializing in something like trademark or intellectual property disputes.

I love how empowering this movie is, like Believe in yourself, Find yourself, Trust yourself, Feminism, BE yourself.... in any order😄 Also if any of you watched the show Moonlight (Bruce Willis, Kathleen Turner) you might recognize the guidance counselor

You might consider checking out one of Reese's earliest movies "A Far Off Place" (1993). It's a drama and a really great showcase of her acting chops.

This is a very cute movie. I totally forgot that Holland Taylor was in it (Professor Stromwell). The only complaint I have is that Jennifer Coolidge was criminally under-utilized. She is capable of so much more! Anyway, I enjoyed watching you guys, as always!

There's also a virtual reunion somewhere online, from earlier covid days, I think because of an anniversary or "just" for fans to hold on to, can't remember really, but it was pretty cool

David Kidney who Elle helps with the slap is actually Oz Perkins son of Anthony Perkins from Psycho! The book set the law school at Stanford( ironically where Reese studied undergrad) but they would not allow filming so they picked Harvard as a second choice. The counselor at her former school was on the tv show Moonlighting with Bruce Willis. I did a weird thing with a resume too even typing in sideways plus taping a penny to it and got the internship at Paramount Pictures. As strange as this film might seem, weird things can happen! The woman who plays the murder defendant was in the first Final Destination films. The guy playing the delivery guy was in a tv series called Kyle XY. This film reminds me of the female centric film with Hailey Mills The Trouble with Angels.
