🚨⚖️ In this video, Alyte goes through a bunch of scenes from Legally Blonde to share just how right (or wrong) Hollywood got it with this movie. Does Elle Woods really need a 175 on the LSAT? Does her major in college matter? Can she represent a criminal defendant in court when she's still in law school? Come check it out, and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

7:00 most likely that was in the earlier draft of the script where she leads to the perm question. but it's more dramatic for elle to flounder and looking clueless before the big aha moment. it's visually more dramatic for a movie. gives us the impression that: 1. her unique background that people ridicule puts her ad an advantage, 2. it's more "realistic" for a student to stumble before getting it right.

Perhaps in the deposition, Chutney only stated she was getting her hair done. Not necessarily got a perm? Lol idk I’m not a lawyer hahaha.

Ahh that's actually a pretty good point. If the attorney conducting the deposition didn't ask further as to what exactly she was getting done when she went to the hair stylist, that wouldn't necessarily be in the record. Still, though, I think Elle is a curious enough person that she would think about that question when reading the deposition. But that's a fair point!

Elle would (should) have known if only by looking at the woman's hair.

I fell in love with Legally Blonde when I saw the musical on MTV starring Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods. So when I saw this video, I really cared to see what Elle was like in the movie as in the musical. When Elle (Reese Witherspoon) said that she was Paulette’s attorney, I don’t care if it’s not legal, Elle really put herself out there and standing up to Paulette to get her dog Rufus back. In the musical, however Elle (Laura Bell Bundy) says that she and Emmett (Christian Borle) are Paulette’s (Orfeh) legal team. So whether or not it’s legal, doesn’t mean that Elle has the guts to stand up to her friend and stand up for what she believes in. 🙁

I don’t know what made me think of this but when I was in high school - we’re going back some thirty years - there was a very smart, mature and, lack of a better term, nerdy student who was no more than 5’ 5”, 85 pounds with thick glasses and alway sporting - because his mother always made him wear - corduroys; we were neither smart or mature, we were a bunch of dumb, immature shitheads. Anyway, he went to school to be, and became a business lawyer. After a year or so, I’m assuming he found he really didn’t care for it so he went back to school to be, and became a CPA; past both tests first go, California Bar and CPA test. Right after he passed the CPA test he started getting offers left and right to join the FBI. Each time he said no, they’d raise the offer until he eventually said yes and became an FBI Agent. He was part of the team that took down Enron. I think that’s so goddamn cool.

THANK YOU for talking about the perm issue and how it would have been known long before the last minute. You did not discuss judges dismissing cases and releasing prisoners from the bench.

You should react to a musical called "Don't be a lawyer". It's from an episode of Crazy ex girlfriend that a lot of other real life lawyers reacted to.

As for the alibi, isn't there a law that prohibits Doctors from revealing their patient's condition, unless the patient specifically allows it? I'm no expert in US law, but I believe this movie, especially the trial, is full with "holes", that's why I ask. 😃 The lawyers aren't supposed to be in "the well", but behind their tables (ignored in most movies and TV shows).

One of my favorites. I'm not blonde but I have been blonde. I'm not a lawyer. Another of my favorite movies is Erin Brockovich. So, what would you be doing if you weren't a lawyer?

Another enjoyable video. Maybe you can do "My Cousin Vinny" next time. I hear it's another favorite among lawyers. Keep up the great work. Hope you have a great week.

That's a great suggestion!! That's probably one of the most accurate legal movies ever made (if not the most accurate legal movie ever made). And, also, very enjoyable to watch. 🙂
