It appears that the tentacles behind her appears to be suggesting that she becomes giant somehow. Notice that when Eric's ship comes in, it looks as though the tentacles are wrapping around it, sort of like the famous Kraken etching.

I like both that and how they show Ursula's manipulative side again too--right as Ariel's about to destroy the shell and kill Ursula, Ursula pulls that "I gave you EVERYTHING...and I could give it to you again...only this time, with a voice too..." Like, as awesome as Ariel was here, I can't deny that Ursula could have won had she not switched gears to "NOW LET'S HAVE A GIRLS' NIGHT OUT AND KILL YOUR DADDY :D"

I was doing part European American as Snow White, Blue Fairy, Cinderella, Alice, Wendy, Aurora, Mary Poppins, Ariel, Belle, Esmeralda, Megara, Jane Porter, Merida, Sofia, Anna, & Elsa, Caucasian, Hispanic, & Asian American as Jasmine, Native American as Pocahontas, African American as Tiana & Doc McStuffins, Chinese American as Mulan, Hispanic American as Elena, and Polynesian as Moana. Ariel gets her voice back from Ursula magic shell, angrily yank, and smash the magic shell. Ursula screams and melts away just like the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz.

this is the Disney version. Disney makes some of their shows into broadway musical. Its not the hans Christian anderseon version, and the brothers grimm don't have a version of the little mermaid. Also, this isn't how the story was in the original story. The sea witch isn't a villain and the mermaid dies,not the witch. In the original version

They didn't do Vanessa on Broadway because it was too hard to stage. Plus, this is how the original Grimm's fairytale goes except in the fairytale Eric marries one of the other princesses and Ariel commits suicide and turns into seafoam. So I wouldn't complain about this ending.

Most other videos on here are Pre-Broadway Tryouts in Denver. So when they moved the show to Broadway, they decided to basically restage/redo this whole section of the show.

whatta crappy ending. I understand plays and musicals have to improvise some parts. ie. that like in the movie, ursula gets killed by the boat stabbing her. That cant be done on stage.
