if you spent enough time grinding 60,000 gold you can buy a legend hat and phantom shield for all three characters. the most i think ive grinded in shirly shrine is level 18. i did gameshark my way to level 60 once of course

I am so happy to hear that you like this game! I grew up playing this game since I first played the demo on the PlayStation Magazine Demo Disc. Truly a masterpiece that I share dearly with my brother. This game created my gaming history in the nutshell because I refer to The Legend of Dragoon as the best game I ever played. So many memories with just this game for me in my youth. I am currently replaying and on the second disc. If anything, I slept on the Final Fantasy franchise, but ones that I did play are FFX and FFXII which are fantastic. Thank you for your efforts, and Happy Holidays!

I remember firing up the old gameshark back in the day on my fifth or so playthrough. One of the cheats was an "All key items" code that hilariously gave access to Darts final dragoon form at the beginning of the game. Not only that it wasn't disabled in the Lloyd fight. Watching the cannon and barrage animations play out followed by a "You missed" or "Over here" was amazing 🤣

Never have I imagined someone would be crazy enough to do this. I truly hope you had speed boost feature of any kind while doing the grind, though I can understand it's only actually usable after you bought three Ultimate Wargods because doing Additions (read: Gust of Wind Dance) with speed boost on is practically a one-way ticket to insanity. Oh my goodness. This was the first game that I ever had that I bought with my own money. I would say I probably have close to if not 1000 hours in this game in the almost 24 years it has existed. Knowing how hard grinding is in this game, I cannot imagine intentionally doing all of this without having the proper setup to farm up yellow birds for the gold needed. Truly an amazing video and I’m so sorry you put yourself through that LOL

Yea the game is designed in a way that you don't really need to grind for levels. Dart puts down more bosses than Dante di Sparda 😂. The only real grinding is for gold for certain equips and Kongol's Dragoon Spirit. I never really grinded Spirit levels, as it kinda trivializes a large portion of the game.

Ah, it's a beautiful day. Been looking forward to this episode for 82 years. Additional respect to the madness that is grinding without using the "special enemies". Totally thought that was going to be the choice with the Magic Sig Stone pickup, but actual random encounters is nuts. GG. Also agreed that the grind is completely unnecessary. Even just having the 1 Casque is enough to break the game's balance, since that balance is really just geared around boss exp, without the need to grind further. But it's still fun to play around with all the different ways available to become OP. Also, 3000 spent for the jar, since I could afford it. Back before kid-me learned what haggling even was.. ​@@Primalliquid92Aye, that's definitely the quickest way to get gold at this stage, and for a more casual OP run, all that's really necessary to never game over. For the exp, it may have been faster to go after Cursed Jars (with 300xp a battle), but then again, that requires a bit more attention than steamrolling randoms. So tedium vs time, i guess. Again though, massive respect for reaching level 60, and especially for doing so at Shirley's. And thanks again for showing how OP you can get this early in LoD!

This was really fun to watch, as well as unexpected! What i mean is that i usually don't expect new videos of The Legend of Dragoon from bigger channels, but i long for them :) Thus i hope more The Legend of Dragoon content could come in the future. I know though that it's difficult to make content about The Legend of Dragoon. Maybe when Severed Chains reach its final release and bigger and more complex mods begin to drop, new youtube content about TLOD could be done easier. Or maybe when a Remake finally comes from Sony. The Legend of Dragoon is my absolute favorite game of all time. It stands at the top of my list with a 10/10 (maybe it's not a 10/10, but it's personal :P), closely followed by Dragon Age Origins at second place (9.9/10) and the third place goes to Mass Effect trilogy (9.8/10) :) For Dragon Age and Mass Effect the franchises are still alive and kicking, but not the same can be said for TLOD. :( I wish so much for a full PS5 Remake of it to finally come. I hate how Sony is totally neglecting their JRPG history. Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, Wild Arms... there are so many... Either way, i think i went way off chart lol i enjoyed this content and i hope for more about The Legend of Dragoon. PS. Severed Chains is a fan made PC Port of The Legend of Dragoon that will remove emulation completely and allow us full mods support (that means mods for highly detailed 3D models, mods for new additions or even Shana additions, mods for new quests etc.)

This game is pretty good. Slogging hours into grinding levels was tedious, but the additions were worthwhile at least. I remember spending hours in the sand fighting the whales, I thought they gave the most exp before the final dungeon/area which was a point of no return iirc. But in the 500+ hours grinding through all of this, ESPECIALLY all before the end of Disc 1... Well Done maintaining your sanity.

I've played through this game a half dozen times, at least; it's probably my favorite PSX JRPG, and I don't have nearly as much time in it as Primal has on this one OP playthrough. I don't believe I've ever gotten anyone to level 60, in fact, though I have kitted everyone out in the 10,000g equipment by farming 00 Parts a couple of times.

What a madlad, grinding so much before even lavitz is available, let alone getting to max lvl FEW TIPS : For the common man to shortcut the GOLD portion of the grind (and some other stuff, but mostly gold) yellow birds are between Hoax and Bale, they drop 300 gp and a chance for an item to increase evasion by 20% THEN, right before hellena 2, you can grind 00PARTS near the mountains by Lohan. They drop 600 gp, and a guarantee potion to give 100 sp, which can help the dragoon grind Lastly, the ultimate wargod lets you afk and go braindead, but doesnt give any stats. Unless youre grinding for an obscene amount of time, just go for a casque or phantom shield instead and get stronger quicker.

I would grind at dragons nest too but only for additions cuz lizard men have physical barrier, so you can farm like 20 additions a fight before the game crashes. Lavitz with flower storm always felt like a huge flex. God I love this game

I maxed out Dart's dragoon levels there by using an addition that was giving 100 sp at a time. I would get 800 to 1000 sp per fight because of the lizardmens physical barrier

The furthest I ever grinded this early was to unlock all of Lavitz's Additions and obtaining Dart's "Final Burst". The latter by the time I got to Drake. The only Addition I think I have the hardest time with is Rod Typhoon due to that dang random counter attack I can never read lol.

I understand this is for an OP build, but for anyone doing a normal playthrough I'd stress not to buy the Ultimate Wargod if for nothing else you can get a free one a bit later in the game. Pretty much all the 10k equipment can break the game in some form especially the Legend Casque so if you want much challenge, you might also want to avoid them completely.

im pretty sure you can make this easier with the *rare* mobs that spawn out in the open map. I forgot if it was just before kazas or right before hellena second visit, but the magic sig stone and accuracy gear make it a much better grind when you can get 300xp from killing the xp urnn lol. I min maxed the game like that, there is a spot where the urnn spawns between 30-50% between the bazaar middle eastern style town and the forest.

I like killing the gold birds outside Lavitz's town. They give good money and the drop sells well. Doesn't help much with the EXP issue but it makes getting the 10000 gp easier.

Maxed 3 additions and dlvl4 with dart dlvl3 with lavitz and 3 with rose and Shana shrine of Shirley if u go to the right on 2nd screen u can infinite heal even after getting the spirit for shana

I've only once grinded the chars to lvl 60, but i've done that on an emulator with 1100 fps and in the desert with the battles which start pretty much automatically without running around, so that i only need to spam X with the automatic additions^^ That already took me like 2 days and i can't imagine someone doing that on such a spot.

Imo there are 4-5 worthwhile grind areas to be absolutely overpowered. 1 is the time in the video, get lavitz final addition and maybe 1 or 2 legend casque. After the tournament in Lohan but before entering the prison. 2 available after you get darts spirit back but before fighting lenus the first time, this can be the biggest grind. Right after you get kongol, grab his Dragoon spirit and go back to the home of gigantos. Grind the gangsters for bandits rings for all the males and also use the blue bird to grind levels to unlock additions. Meru has the highest level addition unlock at lv 30. Either you stop here or you can go to max level for each character. You also get a lot of gold here enough for 3 sets of ultimate wargods, Phantom shields, Legend casque and left over for armor of legend in disc 3. By the end of this grind every character has max dragoon (except Meru), max additions, and equipped to take on anything all before lenus. And isn't too bad for time since blue birds give 1000 exp 3 in the forbidden land before fighting the grand jewel, pucks drop dancers rings and you can grind a full set for the ladies and this area also has the only chest dancers shoes for the ladies. Meaning you can have Rose, Miranda or meru have 95, 105, or 110 speed. 4 this is optional but right before you go back to the home of gigantos in disc 4 if you chose not to grind to 60 in disc 2 you can grind on lucky jars near ulara and if you have 3 ultimate wargods you can go to the desert and mash x while enemies auto target you. This is by far the best way to get to level 60 without much thought. 5 finally another optional grind but you can get extra dancers shoes in the moon but before you enter the inner moon. Cute cats drop them and if you farm 2 you can have all the ladies be super speedy. There is one other notable enemy too. The magician boggey on the haunted ship. You only fight 4 of them in the game but they have a 2% drop a magical hat. With 2 being found in other areas a drop from 1 magician will be enough to have all 3 of your active party have 150 mp for dragoon builds. Good luck with the grind

There have been a few rumors over the years of remakes/new games within the world, but always seems to fall through. There's even been some solid fan-work put into upscaling the game's backgrounds, which is apparently a nightmare to do, but haven't seen an update on that project in a little over a year now. (Though shoutout to Zychronix and everyone else who were working on it. Same guy(s) who created the Hell Mode mod, i believe.)

Before watching, lets see if i remember correctly the situation you are in before hellena 2. A squad of 5 characters to grimd out levels, additions, and D. Levels. Beyond the level/addition grind you would also need to grind out a ridiculously crazy amount of gold for the 10k cost items for 2 of 3 gear slots as the 3rd 10k armor piece isnt available yet. So, starter weapons used for addition and d. Level grinds (no available gear at this point for extra sp gain iirc) and best available weapons for the exp grind on thr toughest mobs available (and perhaps rare encounters)

I didn’t push things all the way to max level… But man, it’s a reward when you find yourself enjoying the game the way it wasn’t meant to be played. Well, at this point you aren’t even playing anymore lol

there is probably a best method of swapping out characters so that you don't max one character so that when you swap them out they still level up in the reserve party, rather than getting to 60 and then wasting xp in reserve since they can't die and are a bad idea in main party. and then obviously since you can't swap out dart he should be the last one to get leveled. but yeah as you did note it's hard to keep the party dead unless you use cheats since defending heals them and they revive after battle. I'd think it would save a few hours but idk how many

a fully mathed out solution would have probably saved maybe 10 hours or so i reckon, but idk even that seems a little high to me

I used the dragon newt spot to get 30k gold lol to get 3 of the ultimate WarGods. Lol highly not recommended but you also worth it lol makes the game to easy.

if you get lavitz to his last addition before the second hellana raid, the rest of the game is easy. he is a beast in killing boss. he does at least twice as much damage as the rest each turn. equip him with bandit's ring or defensive rings, have plenty of healing potions, and throw the occasional power up and speed up on him for more overpowering status.
