IIRC you can attack the enemies before they're able to lay a finger on you, so basically just pop open the door to quickly hit em and then shut it. Do note this was made when the game came out, they might have adjusted this.

Thank you, level 4 will be up shortly! I believe there were 14 levels, but my memory is not at its prime.

You can cast any spell you match the skill requirements for. You just need to find the right rune combo, either by looking for scrolls, trial and error or looking them up on the web. FWIW, I had the slimes crowding the door (and able to shoot through the grates) as well, although I'm playing on Easy. This video is either from an earlier version or modified.

So THAT'S the other place to get a crossbow! I thought it was weird that there seemed to only be 1 in the whole game, in a place where you lose it forever if you don't choose it

The way I beat the slimes was brute force one at a time then ran back to the blue crystal in between lol.

Interesting, I hadn't even thought of that. I can't remember if the crossbow is good or not, but the rarity has to make it worth its while?

So you had 1 Slime, when i went in there there was about 5 all crowded around the door, also where i can find that freezing spell? is it on a floor later then lv3 or have i missed a secret somewhere?

Actually, there's only 13 levels. 11, 12 and 13 are really quite short.
