Ao contrário dos 2 jogos anteriores, Mickey agora derrota os inimigos atirando barras de sabão ao invés de pular neles. Frequentemente, quebra-cabeças precisam ser resolvidos para passar das fases. Se todas as gemas forem coletadas até a última fase, uma cena adicional é mostrada depois que o chefe final é derrotado.
Este foi o último jogo da série à ser lançado até que em 2013, quando foi anunciado o remake do primeiro jogo pela Sega da Austrália.

Ahh the memories of the music the bosses the sounds all come flooding back in an instant! That freaking lynx head boss instantly brought back those frustrations I had as a kid. ROAR Also that dragon made me scream a few times.

Depois de Castle Of Illusion e do maior e melhor jogo da Disney de todos os tempos, o World Of Illusion, como pode a série Illusion ter caído tanto com esse péssimo jogo? O mínimo que ''Legend Of Illusion'' deveria ter feito era honrar o World Of Illusion. Antes não tivessem lançado essa porcaria acima.
