The Legend of Zelda animated cartoon series is absolutely not obscure to Zelda fans, much less today than in the 80s; thanks to internet, this video alone has thousands of views. In order to find new inspirations, developers and artists often do extensive research in their field. All it takes is a nerd intern that watched KZbin and proposed an idea during a creative meeting. Anyway, it's impossible to be certain about the truth. It would be interesting to see this come up in an interview, although even if the inspiration is true I am not sure they would be able to admit it for legal reasons? Who knows.

@@mattwo7 technically you can, the most efficient way is to btb and then when you start to lose speed/altitude do a windbomb, you can pretty much get across the entire map in one go if you nail it :)

Now, the question stands if the BotW devs genuinely looked at this and said “hey, that’d be a good mechanic”, or if it’s just convergent evolution. It’s hard to say, because on both ends, a genuine human being with a soul and a brain and everything came up with it and put it in a video game, and there’s no way a sane person came up with this without assistance, be it divine intervention, alien technology, or crack.

Storyboarders do have to fulfill the scriptwriter's outline (although there's usually back-and-forth draft polishing) and animators in turn have to fulfill _that_ outline... but at both of those levels there's usually room for some creative license. In any case, the ultimate answer is likely "Brainstorming cool stunts that could be done with Link's equipment loadout."

Just wanna point out the yellow stripe on the hat signifies the failed hero timeline. So it is in the same timeline as Breath of the wild. Basically making the strat canonical.

@@transqueen False. Breath of The Wild has "Catastrophe" Ganon, the pure, unbridled form of the beast who cast aside any shred of humanity that was left after victory over Link. In Wind Waker, Ganandorf is still just a man, and Ganon is referred to as "Puppet" Ganon, being quite literally a puppet brought about and directly controlled by Ganondorf's sorcery paired with the Triforce of Power. As far as we know, in the adult timeline Ganondorf's body and soul are still trapped within stone that is sealed by the Master Sword plunged into his forehead and resting at the bottom of the ocean.

That's why there is also salt from the great sea and Rito, Koroks and Phantom armor from the adult timeline, Majora's mask from the Child timeline, and most importantly, the locations in the game are named after every single game in the series.

The windbomb glitch is probably my favorite thing about Botw lol it made my second playthrough just as fun as the first especially when you get really good at it. It's going to be sad to see it go in the sequel but I'm sure we'll find another glitch just like it.
