Honestly I thought zelda herself was really well done in this one. She actually served a purpose throughout the whole game, and had some genuinely good dialogue. Her and link made for a good team in this one and they seem to actually build a bond with each other as they adventure together. Makes it a lot more believable than others where link basically does as she asks while she helps by doing unrelated stuff offscreen. Plus, all the paranormal stuff was actually pretty interesting and led to some genuinely funny moments. Kinda ironic that the most lively zelda is the dead one.
@raine68134 жыл бұрын
eh, i found her rather annoying, the way she constantly freaked out about little stuff like rats and the fact that for the majority of the game it was obvious she was only helping link because she wanted her body back made her a bit of a pain to be with, sure there were some funny moments and she did get better towards the end of the game but other than that she wasnt very pleasnt for me. ill take skyward sword zelda over this one any day

Then she sacrificed herself to save midna. Then the evil possessed version of her fought link, then she was restored and helped you defeat ganondorf with the light arrows... so I wouldn’t really say she did nothing. @8:00 (Some Skyward Sword spoilers) That is because Zelda is the mortal incarnation of the goddess Hylia and therefore her body is the only vessel capable of holding god-like power, unlike Cole, whose body Malladus intended to use as a temporary vessel until he would defeat Link and regain Zelda’s body. This is also why Gannondorf eventually transforms into the pig demon Ganon, because his mortal body can’t contain the rising power of the Triforce of Power.

At this point, you're really asking for more "WHEN DO WE GET NEWER" comments, haha. So, few random thoughts on this final video : 1. To answer one of your questions, Link and Zelda share the Health Bar during the final battle. You can see that Malladus tackling her takes away one whole heart. 2. Maybe you've already noticed it, but just in case... Take a look at the far right of the screen at 25:17. Looks like Zelda kept a little memento. S'pretty sweet. 3. As I watched the credits roll, reading about your opinion of the game, for some reason, it took me back to when I first watched your vids. Gotta be honest here : I kind of hated your guts for your commentary, which I deemed "overly harsh and critical on nitpicky points, on top of never taking any serious moments... well, seriously". But boy am I glad I stuck around. With time and a little maturing on my end, I found said commentary to actually be a special kind of humor that tickles my funny bone, and I now know that you often joke for the sake of the joke, and not necessarily to spit on the game. So... yeah. Just keep being you. You're a pretty dang cool dude~

I really get the impression that they want to set up the idea of Ganon reincarnating in lots of different forms... or having counterparts in other worlds... Chancellor Cole is clearly meant to evoke Ganondorf in his hair colour... whilst Yuga in A Link Between Worlds is his Lorulian counterpart... He's incarnated as Ganondorf at least twice... I think it's kinda cool that they do this, but Ganondorf is always going to be people's favourite version.

Here are my ideas for what the "complete" Dark Realm could've contained had the developers not been limited by time constraints. I've thought about this for the last few days. Buckle up before clicking "Read more", because this is going to be a very long comment! When you first enter the Dark Realm, the Pac Man train sequence will play out like normal. But when it's finished, instead of being taken directly to the Dark Train fight, the Dark Sanctuary will reveal itself; it was being kept hidden from the Armored Trains by the Dark Lokomo, who I will refer to as Ashley (as in ash from a train furnace), using some kind of cloaking spell. This station takes place on one of the barren rocky mountains you see throughout the Dark Realm, and is a long climb up to the sanctuary itself where Ashley can be found at. It can be as complex as the Isle of Ruins from PH, as this is the final area, and there may, or may not, be floating platforms you have to platform across with the Dark Realm's "dark sea" below you. There are also dark caves full of monsters you have to go through. If they play the generic cave theme here, then so help me! These are dark caves in the realm of monsters, so they should at least reuse the two temple themes for a more unsettling atmosphere if they're really too lazy to compose something new. Anyway, for this station, they could bring back enemies from PH's Ghost Ship, but buffed up since this is the final area; for instance, Skulltulas take multiple hits and swing around with each hit, meaning you'll likely get hit if you don't know what you're doing. There could even be Reapers in the caves that you have to avoid; since you can't see the maps of caves, it'll be harder to track their locations, and they'll do 4 hearts of damage (equivalent to a hit from an Iron Knuckle in OoT and MM) instead of 2 since, again, this is the final area. There'll be Safe Zones in Reaper rooms, naturally. Another idea I have for an enemy are Cleft/Hinox-like rock monsters that charge at you at high speeds on sight, and you have to throw bombs or Bomb Flowers at to defeat, and if you throw it too soon, they'll throw it back at you! Other enemies would be ReDeads and/or Gibdos that will immediately stun you if you get within a certain radius of them, forcing you to safely take them out from a distance. There could also be skeleton Cuccos like those in ALttP's Dark World that you can use for platforming sections. For the prosecutor puzzle, I was thinking there'll be several heads placed throughout the station that you have to make your way to and activate to form a symbol, like a Triforce or something; the main challenge is just trying to reach them. This will open the door to Ashley. She explains that she was assigned by the spirits to be Malladus' "warden", if that makes any sense, and that the Spirit Tracks here were somehow conjured up by Byrne when he made the Compass of Light (or at least that's the only logical explanation I can think of for the Dark Realm tracks). When Cole and Byrne arrived in the Dark Realm for the first time, they helped Malladus grow strong enough and generate enough monster forces to overpower Ashley and force her into hiding; with her out of the way, the bad guys then proceeded to build the Dark Temple; an EVIL TRAIN FACTORY OF DOOM, which is where the evil Wario train was assembled (speaking of which, I just realized the Dark Realm is a lot like Smithy's Factory from SMRPG; the music for the exterior of the Dark Sanctuary could be something similar to it)! When Cole found out that Byrne had joined the good side, he knew that he would tell Link and co. how to find the Compass of Light and used a cloaking spell similar to what Ashley used on the Dark Sanctuary to hide the Dark Temple for when Link and co. came. The only way to break the spell on the temple is, yep, you guessed it! This chapter's Lokomo song! The instrument Ashley plays, I was thinking, could be something Japanese; she does have kind of a creepy Japanese doll-like look to her. They could even theme her room after the inside of something from feudal Japan, with a bunch of tiny candles being the only light source, etc. Once the song is complete and the Dark Temple reveals itself, your next challenge is to make your way there. More evil trains will have spawned, but this time, there will be no Tears of Light. Ashley was conjuring them up last time but exhausted most of her power in the process; hence an in-game excuse for why she's also not going to hide the Dark Realm again, so you can return there anytime. Anyway, without the Tears, it'll be a game of cat and mouse as you make your way to the Dark Temple; most of the portals will have vanished as well, so you'll have to take a more linear route. I'm talking E3 train demo difficulty levels here since, again, this is the final area! These trains will remain for the rest of the game to provide a constant threat, as the Dark Realm is supposed to be the world's most dangerous place to be in. The Dark Temple will be an industrial-themed dungeon with elements of darkness in it. It'll be a long area filled with various mechanisms that'll have to be traversed, puzzles that require creative usage of all the items in the game, and most of the enemies that were in the Dark Sanctuary, plus some new ones like Cursed Bubbles and Keese that disable your weapons and items; seems fitting for the endgame area, don't you think? Some ideas I have for obstacles are grease-covered floors that have ice physics; small gears you have to pick up and throw to complete mechanisms; and conveyor belts that you both ride on and use to transport bombs, the aftermentioned gears, and the Boss Key. The music for this dungeon could be something as epic as the Bowser's Castle theme in Superstar Saga. You'll overhear from Cole talking to Malladus in an R&D room of sorts that the Dark Temple is the place where all the Dark and Armored Trains are currently being assembled at. They are planning to use them as part of their plot to take over the world, and shell out instant game over screens to anyone who dares venture out onto the tracks! Better get used to walking, citizens of Hyrule! Anyway, Dark Link is the miniboss of this dungeon, and he is created when Link gets exposed to Dark Train smoke released by Cole when he realizes that Link has been eavesdropping. Dark Link being made of smoke, I think, is a nice way to explain why he becomes more and more transparent whenever Link hits him. Once Dark Link is defeated, he finds the Boss Key in the next room, which he must then take all the way back to the train station your train gets parked in at the beginning, while fending off the Key Masters in the longest and hardest key challenge yet. This Boss Key is used to open a giant door blocking the tracks, which prevented you from going further in your train until it's open. This leads to a huge train bay area where the Wario train is being kept at, which in turn, leads out to the series of tracks where the Wario train fight takes place at in the final version of the game. Cole and Malladus fled here to try and make a getaway on the Wario train, but Link and co. chase them on the Spirit Train and then everything else plays out like it did in the retail version. The Dark Temple is implied by Anjean after the final battle to have soon been destroyed by the Lokomos with the Wario train's defeat and monster forces weakened, so there'll be no more evil trains being produced. But I'm not done yet, as there's still the subject of optional stuff. Lets start with your most favorite thing in the whole wide world: WABBITS! The Dark Rabbits could take the form of skeleton rabbits, similar to the aftermentioned skeleton Cuccos, with purple shirts (like how all rabbits wear a colored shirt corresponding to the realm they're found in). They hide behind the Halloween skulls featured as the Dark Realm's breakable objects initially, and hop in midair for the net minigame directly above the "dark sea", similar to how the Ocean Rabbits hop on water. At Rabbitland Rescue, the Dark Rabbits can be found in a dark cave, hopping above a bottomless pit. To keep the total number of rabbits in the game at 100, I was thinking maybe they could divide the Sand Realm's rabbits with the Dark Realm's ones, so they'd both have 10 each. Both are relatively small areas, so I could see 10 being reasonably spread out across the Sand and Dark Realm maps. As for Stamp Stations, I feel like there need to be ones for the Dark Sanctuary and Temple, as every other sanctuary and temple has one, even though the enemy's main base of operations in a parallel universe would be the most outlandish place for one to be at. And finally, there could be a single cargo sidequest with Ashley that opens up right after you do the Lokomo song with her, so you don't have to beat the game first; she'll request that you bring her Dark Ore for an unexplained mysterious reason. You'll only need to bring her one unit, as the Dark Ore Mine is in the complete opposite corner of the world from the Dark Realm entrance, and you'll be safe when you reach the Dark Realm as Dark Ore will not dissolve there (which makes sense). The Force Gem she gives will lead you to an optional station in the Dark Realm called the Levitating Station, and is basically a Cucco platforming challenge across a long series of floating islands, with wind gusts similar to the Isle of Gust from PH (it would be the only time in this game where that's used); reach the end, and you'll get a Regal Ring or Alchemy Stone. Well, that certainly turned into an essay; it just so happens that I came close to KZbin's character limit for comments. I wonder if any of this is a bit too ambitious for the Spirit Tracks dev team. Either way, if you really are going to make a Newer Zelda out of this game, then how about you try implementing this? If not, then I propose that, sometime in the future, somebody eventually does!

It'd certainly help with delivering Dark Ore!!

What if instead of Link climbing the Dark Lokomo with Zelda after shooting it down, they instead had to enter the Lokomo from the back instead. It sort of goes back to the Vaati Zelda ceremony from Minish Cap. Where Link is stuck fighting while Zelda being in ghost form, (note Zelda wasn't supposed to get a phantom on the spirit train) and after Link makes it to the car before the engine, a phantom appears. Where Link had to 1v1 against the phantom. Winning gave Zelda control of it leading it to the first battle phase. But note, the player is given 10:00 minutes to clear the challenge, if not complete, the ceremony would be complete and the dark Lokomo drives into the dark black hole causing a game over.

While I’m a few years late, this was the first Zelda game I completed, be it not 100%, since I was too lazy for the material escorts and train quests, though I will ask: Did phantom hourglass have a better final boss than spirit tracks? Was bellum a more enjoyable boss than malladus was? Also, I love the final lokomo song in the dark realm. Especially when you complete it and all the lokomos show up, it really touches me.
@superdino852410 ай бұрын
I personally think PH’s final boss was better overall, mostly because ST’s final boss had a rather frustrating first couple of phases and a final phase I thought was horribly underwhelming compared to other final phases. I mean, Malladus seemed to spend 90% of his final phase switching targets and roaring.

I'm not sure exactly but I think that this is the only Zelda game where she actually hugs Link. The best part of that hug is when they sit up from it and are both holding each other. However in my opinion, Link's expression could have been more happy, I mean he just got hugged by the princess ruler of the entire land. Even given the circumstances, he should at least show some degree of happiness. I'd be over the moon awestruck if that happened to me, even if I did have to fight a huge minator like beast afterwards. Even if I died, I'd be happy knowing that I got hugged by the princess of the land. Great video BTW. 😎 But can someone please explain that “ORLY” counter to me. 🤔 (Oh and in the case of Zelda hugging Link, pause at 6:56 quickly to see the actual best part of that hug he also blushes when she hugs him BTW).
@majine.2606 Жыл бұрын
Don't know if you found out your answer by now, but the "ORLY?!" counter is an inside joke of skawo's (based on an old meme) that's supposed to indicate moments when characters state the obvious. Like, "Oh, really? You don't say?"
@julianx2rl4 жыл бұрын
Actually, Byrne didn't get revived, the granny just picked up his spirit to take it into the afterlife. If fact, this one moment (the ending) offers some serious insight about Zelda and Link, because other than this, I don't think the Zelda universe has outright stated that they are reincarnations, they usually just say that Link carries the essence of the hero or whatever.
@wolflink2312 жыл бұрын
This is the adult timeline where adult princess Zelda from ocarina of time sent ocarina of time link back 7 years into the past leaving the adult timeline without a hero which resulted down the road and that wind waker Link adventure then that same link goes into phantom hourglass and then we get to his reincarnation in Spirit tracks. So I'm thinking that wind waker Link look like must have accidentally retriggered demise's curse In the adult timeline since he did battle ganondorf which is reincarnation a demise's hatred towards the goddesses. But that's just my theory on that.🤔

Let's call Malladus Waganon or Wanon (Wah-nin) in his demon form.
@warioland5237 жыл бұрын
I am thinking this boss is implied to be Ganon. There is some references hinting that Malladus and Ganon are one in the same. First off his main mode of transportation the Demon Train has a face that resembles Ganon's Gerudo form. Malladus' title is the Demon King. A same title shared by Ganon and his original incarnation Demise. Malladus in this game appears as a spirit meaning he may have died. And you want to know who else died in this timeline? Ganon. Now as to how Ganon came back as a vengeful spirit it's because he his hatred wills it. Ganon knew he could not come back to his old world as it was in ruin so he instead sought to make New Hyrule his instead. He wage war with the spirits and Anjean, lost, and was sealed away. From his prison he enlisted the aid of one of his lackies to pass himself off as an official in Zelda's court to weaken his seal so he could be freed but because he was a ghost he was weak and needed a body of raw power in the form of Zelda so he sought to possess her. When he was forced out of Zelda's body he got desperate and ate Cole killing him and absorbing his power giving him a physical form but it was unstable and he wouldn't be able to maintain it for long. Realizing that if he can't have his kingdom then nobody can Ganon sought to destroy the kingdom in a fit of rage before his body rejects him and breaks apart. In the end Ganon fights Link and Zelda and loses and light penetrates through out his body ripping his soul to shreds thus bringing in end the wretched Ganondorf or as he is now known as Malladus once and for all. RIP you magnificent tyrant you. This was the real sequel to Wind Waker when you think about it. Phantom Hourglass was more of a side story.

For once, it obeyed the wind without it being part of a gameplay mechanic. 18:19 That’s mostly because you’re still on the island where the portal to the Dark Realm is. Or, rather, where it USED to be. 20:36 With how she has no visible legs, it’s no surprise that she needed a wheelchair. 22:49 Well, THAT ought to be interesting. 26:07 Theeere’s the jumpscare. There is a theory that Malladus and Ganon are the same entity, just different incarnations of Demise. Which is pretty plausible. They look very similar and they both have the title of Demon King. I thought Malladus was pretty cool, honestly. I was glad we got an incarnation of Demise that isn't Ganon, Ganondorf/Ganon, or Toon Ganondorf/Puppet Ganon. Not that I dislike them, it's just nice to mix it up a little bit. They always give the Ghirahim incarnations different designs and names, but largely the same personality traits, so it's cool that Demise got some different incarnations.

7:45 Yeah, I kinda have to scratch my head at why villains try to awaken dark evils so much for power. After all, said dark powers are almost never under any obligation to not just kill off said villain upon being awakened; even in Sonic: Lost World it was more like a lion-taming whip than any sort of obligation. Also, about the 'awkward deflection' stuff, let's face it: according to any sort of physics that does not treat a sword in motion as a mirror, that is really how deflecting should be working the whole time, given that Link just knocks them sideways with his sword and all that. 14:40 Having an ancient national treasure that's a bow meant to be used by the princess to fell the prince of darkness of the week tends to make the princesses of that particular kingdom good at archery.
