I loved Zelda in the past, but I had to admit that in some games she was more of a role model (well, aside from being held hostage and in danger all the time). Tetra had her badass moments, but even she was a damsel in distress. THIS Zelda is an upgrade. I cannot watch this clip without cracking up.

Love this scene. We never really had a lot of Zelda moments in the past, but this scene really gave her a ton of personality. And when she says she would wait for Link rather than help out, stating it’s sort of a family tradition made me laugh so hard. All games before always had Zelda waiting for Link, rather than helping out and making the job easier. Love that this game broke that mould and made Zelda a companion.

As far as in-game proof goes: Niko is an old man who mentions that ST!Link reminds him of an old friend, there is a stained glass window of Tetra in Hyrule Castle (plus ST!Zelda prays to her near the end), and you meet Linebeck III (and get to visit the grave of the original).

Spirit Tracks is such an underrated gem. A lot of people were put off by the "train" aspect but I personally thought it was pretty awesome. Especially the twist at the end. This is also one of the only games you literally get to adventure WITH Zelda. The soundtrack is FIRE by the way. Probably some of the best music the Zelda series has seen. It's also a direct sequel to Wind Waker.

Notice that Niko also features in this game but he's now an old man who tells histories about his adventures with the rest of Tetra's crew. As Anjean said in this cutscene, Tetra is the ancestor of Zelda in Spirit tracks.

The reason Link doesn't officially have a romantic relationship with Zelda is because deep down in the darkest depths of his soul, Zelda gave him PTSD in one of his last lives.
