Great interview, thank you for that! Here is a Chevelle story for you. Back in 1975 I met a GM of Canada marketing manager. He told me an amazing story about a 1967 Chevelle SS he special ordered for a customer in Winnipeg Manitoba. The customer wanted his Chevelle built with the 1966 L-72 427 Corvette motor. The COPO was approved and the 427 Chevelle was built. However the train carrying the car was derailed and the Chevelle was destroyed. The ordered was placed again and on four more occasions; five times in all the 427 Chevelle never survived the delivery process. As the GM manager said to me 'I guess that 427 Chevelle was just not meant to be'. The customer never did get his 427 Chevelle even with the personal efforts of a GM manager to guide the order process.

What an amazing man. A living legend... I could sit for hours and listen to his stories about Chevrolet engines. I'd love to take a peek at that 65 Chevelle and his Classic Chevrolet speed parts.

Patrick, what a mind blowing interview with a genuine legend. This guy is the epitome of raw muscle creations. He worked with his mind along with tools, no tuners or chips ( no disrespect) to those choices. He believes in the legendary three C's of the muscle car era. Patrick, super interview with this man. Respect your commitment to bring us news of the way it was. Big blocks never die. Thanks, Raymond

Wow! What a great and interesting video! Ed Cole’s son, Nick, is a good friend of mine. Nick came down to Louisiana to work for a cattle rancher/race car driver from my hometown. We met in the early 90’s and also raced our hot rods against each other. He would often speak of his dad and all the ideas he had for the small block Chevy. Nick ended up marrying a good friend I graduated with. They now reside in Texas. It’s a small world folks. I bet Cliff could’ve helped Junior Johnson keep his big block motors together in the early 60’s. Junior said if the motor stayed together, he would always win. Broken valve springs or busted pistons would shut him down in many races.
