I attended both performances on the day , Angelina’s stage presence was incredible her live performances stunning, that was the fourth time I have seen this musical genius live at different stages in her life! Angelina is so talented and special, the artist with a thousand different styles and voices! Great reaction thanks 🙏

Woo Hoo. CHRIS's creation. Chris, you caught a lot of grief for releasing this. I for one was unsure about it at the time, as I KNOW you were too. But in the end, just HOW MANY complete songs do we have available to watch from the Portsmouth Concert ? There is a reason I refer to it sometimes as "The Lost Concert", despite it being still less than a year ago. Aaron, I look forward to WHEN WE WERE YOUNG ! it is a think of beauty. ... and given your "history", you may want tissues ready 😉 😇 Jim

@@beachbumseaglass I will be doing a reaction with Aaron upcoming soon, possibly will record next week / maybe week after. I haven't TOTALLY determined EXACTLY what I want to review with him - there are a number of things that would in one way or another more Uniquely tie-in to my personal experience / story with Angelina, so I still need to put some thought into it, which will be news to Aaron when he reads this. SOOO, you were in PORTSMOUTH ? I am a little surprised you DIDN'T know I was there . . . you certainly did not know about me at that time then, because I did NOTHING but Portsmouth-related 'STUFF' on my channel for the month leading up to Portsmouth. In Fact, Portsmouth - and the things I was doing related to it on my channel - is the reason my channel Exists.... FYI, I was seated in the MIDDLE SEAT, in the MIDDLE SECTION, FRONT ROW - - - directly in front of Angelina, about 10 feet away. If you have not seen it, the entirety of the less than 2 mins of video I took of Angelina from that seat is included in the "ANGELINETTES" videos. 😇 Jim

We're you the one that was posting about the seats that were still available and about the meet and greet ? P.s. your stuff is great. I hate when reactors use the low quality recordings. Its easy to tell a Jimmy T production. Thanks from all of the angels. 👍🏻❤️

I was one of those in the audience setting 30 feet from her when she did this! This song has been my all time favorite song since the night in 1965 when I was setting in the audience in Anaheim, Calf. for the tapping of the Andy Williams TV show! His guests that night included the Righteous Brothers! Bobby Hatfield's Mother was setting right in front of me in the audience and had never heard Bobby perform on a stage. It was also his first time to perform Unchained Melody live on stage! He was actually very nervous at first, but once he got into the song the nervousness left him and it was the most fantastic performance I had ever heard (I was 23 at the time) My all time favorite male artist was Elvis and I also got to see him perform the song not long before he died! For many years I did not think anyone would ever perform this song better than Bobby Hatfield! Then nine years ago I saw the video of Angelina at 9 being interviewed about her book that had just been published. I watched it then found the video of her singing a short version of Unchained Melody before the interview! I knew in my mind that evening that one day she would do it better than Bobby! From the minute I started making plans to travel over 2000 miles to her concert in Portsmouth last Sept. I was hoping she would do the song! By the end of the first line I was an 81 yo puddle of tears! And I knew she was (In my mind) performing it better than anyone every had!! Even today after watching the video of her performance in excess of 200 times, I still cry every time! And as good as Chris' video is, being there live was other worldly! OH, and thanks Aron for going back and reacting to this performance!

What a unique comparative historical perspective you have!!! Your response is backed by authority! I was there too, at 79, and when she started singing that song, at her own slowed-down pace, like you said, everyone just froze in attention. I felt like I was in a deep meditation. Her voice went straight to my heart. Never experienced anything like that before nor since.

Hi A- Aron 👋 my fellow Angelina Angel 😇 friend 😊👍! Angelina is from heaven🙏💫 sent by God as an angel 😇 to fill this world with love ♥️❤️‍🔥 and peace! and she is an old soul ✨️ over 💯 years old with past souls ✨️ living within her! She is a gift to all of us in this world 🌍! A singing 😲 Madonna 👰😊! Angelina makes every song her song with her riffs, runs and melismas and thereby pays respect to the original singer 😯! She is a true artist! and singer 😲🎙for me, with her unique and special voice 😲 my queen👸of music 🎶 world 🌍! in my life! and angel 😇Angelina😊! Angelina sings in Portsmouth New Hampshire September 2023 Unchained Melody🙏 classy, silky, warm🔥 soft, emotional❤️‍🔥again other melismas, runs 😮! and this was her slowest and most difficult singing 👩😲🎙interpretation of this song ! Elvis 🎸🕺version and 70 % Angelina's own version! Stunning! Unbelievable! Heartwarming ❤️‍🔥and Soul ✨️ Captivating 🔗! Angelinas voice And Angelina looks like a goddess👸with the brown dress! Our angel 😇 is incredible! And her high notes 😲 World class 🌍 😊! Bye Aron👋! Thanks for sharing this video👍great emotional 🥲 analysis and comments as always my fellow AJ Angel 😇 👍👌👏! I was second row center right and trust me Aron, as good as this sounds, it pales in comparison to being there, close in. When she hit that final note it was as if a crystal bell was ringing throughout the hall. I’ve never heard a voice so pure. I was gob smacked. If you weren’t crying before, you were then. It seemed to ring forever. Just awe inspiring. Sensational

One difference between Angelina and everyone else I’ve heard is her ability to grab you right at the beginning of a song-and you’re hooked til the end. You probably know the song, but you also know that Angelina is going to give you something you haven’t heard before. She doesn’t throw away a word or a note. She combines her unique musicality with her interpretation, and chooses the right voice from a bottomless toolkit of tones and textures. I like her Nobel Award version better than this. Her voice is mesmerizing here, but for me, the very slow tempo loses the melody at times.

Aaron, as far as I could tell, it wasn't "engineering" when that second "are you still mine" seemed to hang in the air forever. That was all her. Too bad the recorded sound quality isn't better, because being there in person it was otherworldly how beautiful it sounded. Also, that upper part of the range that you were saying isnt' quite of the caliber of the lower part, I think that again is at least partly the recoding quality. For me at least that high note at the end was sensational. (Although she went on to top that ending at the Nobel concert.) My favorite thing about this is just how long it is; I believe its the longest rendition of a song she's ever done, almost six minutes. We get to hear all those glorious ribbons of sound stretched out..

Aaron I was fortunate enough to witness this live as well, 3rd row right. It was stunning, you could hear a pin drop. Tears of joy were flowing, and you see the standing ovation. I thought the tempo was luxuriously slow and perfect - and in hindsight even slower than at Oslo. Live was even better than any recording could capture. By the way, at this point the Nobel Peace Prize had not yet been announced so she didn't know she would be performing it there. This was clearly the emotional highlight of the concert. A few of us hung around after the concert and met Angelina, and Sara, and you can be sure she was told how amazing the concert, and this song in particular, was.

The week leading up to the concert, and the concert itself was magical. I was four rows from the stage and on the right side aisle. I don’t think there was an Ångel in the audience with a dry eye in the Music Hall, and even some of the uninitiated locals were surprised at the emotions that Angelina brings forth when she sings. I think most would agree - “Unchained Melody” was the best performance of the evening. We were ALL excited to be part of Angelina’s first public performance in the USA, and Angelina felt the love. There were Angels in attendance from 38 states including both Alaska and Hawaii, PLUS an international contingent of Angels from NINE different countries including Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Australia, Norway, Great Britain, The Netherlands, and France. Thank you for reacting to this remarkable performance and allowing me to revisit that special evening. 🎶💙👣

Time stood absolutely still while tears flowed and dripped off chins ..I was there. Drove up from Philly, and I'll be flying to L.A. in Sept. for her just announced concert on the 20th. ...And you're right about the continued growth and freedom of her upper register. The Oslo performance had more ring and effortless overtones in the extreme upper register. The Portmouth tempo, as you observed, was very slow, and maybe that contributed to the upper register being just a little less opened, a tad reachy, or not as grounded and yet the tones were still magical! But here's the thing about her EFFORTLESS technique, it's only because her instrument is so beautifully built, with her effortless range and flexibility from top to bottom that all her tones have hamonic qualities built in. Angelina is a master of vocal production.

I was there! In fact, I sat just in front of Chris and his wife, so a lot of what you see in this video is the back of my head! Before the concert, Sara told us that Angelina has a special surprise for us. And this song was IT! I was in tears. Spellbound. I didn’t want it to ever end. But, of course, it had to. And I was the first to stand to give her the ovation she so justly deserved! I’m lucky to have a signed photo of Angelina doing one of the belts during this performance! She signed it for me at Vegas.

Yes, it is very slow. It helps to be relaxed going into listening, or else it will relax you partway through. Younger people in general are unused to lower tempos, because many broadcasts speed up even classic songs to steal seconds to squeeze in an extra ad. (It's called "pitching," ironically). Most people can't hear the difference, unless they've heard a song many times. So sometimes, besides being hard to sing slowly, it's hard to listen slowly!

You had to be there A-Aron. This recording doesn't do it justice. Really. This performance was amazing. This is the only time I've ever seen Angelina nervous. It was a sold out show and we made sure she knew we love her regardless.

A-Aron I had a great seat and next to me was a couple who were members of the Music Theatre and they decided to go to the Show to find out who she was. Of course 🙂I filled them in with a few comments about who she is and by the end of the Show their overall reaction to Angelina was one word which we all have come to know is the ultimate compliment to describe who she is and what she will become, "Wow!" Yes, there wasn't a dry eye in the packed house and for most of us it was our first opportunity to see her live, a memory of which we will never forget.

Music has a profound way of touching our hearts and souls, especially when it's delivered with genuine emotion. It's not just the melody or the rhythm, but the raw, unfiltered humanity that shines through in performances by Angelina Jordan. It's a testament to the power of music to express and evoke deep emotions, to connect us to our shared human experiences, and to heal. Even though it's tough to witness the tears and pain, it's also a beautiful reminder of the impact that this person's voice, and delivery can have, reaching out and touching lives in ways words alone cannot. So, while it's understandable to shy away from the sadness, it's also worth celebrating the incredible ability and artistry of AJ to bring us all a little closer through her art.

My first time hearing Angelina live was at Portsmouth. I arrived a day before the concert and went to the Music Hall to see if any angels were hanging out and indeed there were a few. We had a great time chatting and then going to dinner. Mary Beth, due to a bum knee, was unable to go on this trip. Chris Walker had two tickets, but not together. I exchanged my two tickets, center stage, with Chris's better seat, so he could sit next to his beautiful wife Lucy. The band supporting Angelina, wasn't the best and I don't think they had enough rehearsal time with Angelina, BUT Angelina's voice shone through, providing many goosebumps. This song was the highlight of the show. Videos were not allowed so we are lucky to have this video.

Prior to listening to Angelina, the most emotional reaction I had from music was a guitar solo by Carlos Santana, but my reaction to Angelina is two or three times as potent. @TroyArchAngel I know what she does in that I know how she makes me feel, but I honestly don't know how it is that so many, including me, are affected by her in ways that no one else can replicate. If you know what it is that she specifically does that others do not do, I wish you would tell me. I don't mean things like "she's a great storyteller" or " her toolbox of techniques is enormous." What I don't understand is what does she do or what attributes does her voice have that permits her to seemingly reach right into your heart or soul and bring forth an emotional response when, at least in my case, no one else can even come close to producing that response. I really look forward to hearing how you think she can do this. You seem to think I should know, but I really don't.

It's always a different experience everytime she sings even on the same song. She forgot the lyrics in one part here but one can hardly notice it. And even if you notice you will surely not care because it's the experience... And we sometimes forget she's only 18..not even close to her prime. As a true jazz specialist, Angelina will bring differences each time she performs a specific song, making each one sound fresh and new. We need to know that Bobby Hadfield's rendition as part of The Righteous Brothers is considered 'The Gold Standard' for the song and deservedly so. All Angelina's performances of the song are truly exceptional, but for emotion laden penetration to the listener, her Nobel Peace Prize performance is beyond compare, for not even Bobby's great rendition reaches the depths of the human soul as much as her 'Nobel' rendition did.

Thanks , Aron, for staying true. i think Angelina needs honest feedback, which can be hard to find sometimes, but can only help her, i believe, and i agree that even though she's becoming a beautiful young woman at 18 she is still a teen and a work in progress and though she may not always be perfect she still manages to touch our heart and soul in a way most of us have never experienced.

if you believe a song cannot be sung slower and still has a strong impact on listeners, you should attend an Angelina Jordan concert ;-) as for Lucy - she'll be a great Broadway singer (since she's British I should probably say West End singer) and she's really exceptional in that area but can she completely keep up with Angelina in terms of storytelling/emotional skills? I like her though - Moon River and Hallelujah are a must for a reaction IMHO.

ronraskind 1 hour ago I was there at Portsmouth sitting right behind Chris Walker with my wife. I was not unique. This performance brought me to tears as her emotion became my emotion. And the standing ovation at the end was as heartfelt as I've ever been a part of. 1 1

Hearing our girl sing this live is something that I still think about today. It was a truly memorable experience and so pleased that others get to hear it. Angie says she goes to a special place when she sings and sometimes she invites you to go there with her. And I agree with you about her higher register. It is a work in progress.

When I saw this version I thought she was outstanding but then the NPP version was off the charts and I realized that Portsmouth was almost training her voice for what we were to hear at the NPP. There she had perfected that last section of the song whereas in Portsmouth it was still a work in progress but still unreal.

While on this nigjt, she was probably trying the song out on the audience, probably to start refining it for the nobel prize with this very slow cadence, IMO, I prefer this version because it is more emotion-romantic versus solomn familial sadness. And although this band is not that great at that night. She shows us three massive sonic torpedos to drill right into us.

Hard to say with this recording, thanks Chris, but I think her high register ending was superior at the Nobel Peace Prize event

Yes I do think the ending a the Nobel concert topped this one. But I loved the majestic slowness of this version; best live performance of any song by anyone, for me!

@@BigAngieFan808 When talking about her higher register, why does no one ever mention her ending of Mercy (Vegas concerts) when she actually hits a whistle note? I believe it's the first and only time we've ever heard that!

Head voice high notes ... I believe she is fortunate to be able to go so high.Being she can go so low in the fact that physiologically she is like six foot two. Even as a child , some experts said that she has a very big glottus. She must have to really constrict it to get up there.

Hey there, A-Aron. I think that sound was the soundchild of her voice thru the system synching and blending with the sound of the instrument. As those sound waves collided, it made a third separate unique sound. The system didn't know what to do. But what I want to know is if that was sustained long enough what physical effects would occur? 0 =)

On first read I surmise scribbles is suggesting that Angelina’s voice and the equipment had a love child that manifested in that sound you questioned..an intersting perspective 😮🤣

That amazing sonic torpedo effect where you were questioning it.I believe was the keyboard player at the end of her elongated.Note matching her with perfect tone with enhanced her Sound... That is when I snapped out of my trance when I heard that..... On my Sony recorder, you can hear it even better and like I said, get me an email address so we can communicate and I will ship you, and only you A-Aron, a CD of the entire concert. Maybe you should put an email address at the bottom.Or top of your community notes blurb.Or even a p o box #.

Jordan had specifically requested that no recordings be made of this concert so that everyone could fully enjoy it without any interferences. Yet these four so called “angels” intentionally disobeyed her personal request for their own selfish desires. You are listening to the audio through the cellphones from a distance of over 40 feet away, and comparing it to a professional recording system made at her Las Vegas concert with a professional band with whom she had practiced for a couple of weeks. Lucy Thomas’s Unchained Melody was pitch corrected, absolutely nothing Jordan has ever sung has ever been pitch corrected or autotuned, which is why she has such an emotional impact, and Lucy has none!

I was front row for this concert. Staff was walking around shutting down everyone trying to record AJ -- bad decision. Fortunately Chris was able to put together this video. The band was not always in sync with AJ during this concert -- much better in the LV concerts. And yes, AJ almost always slows down the temp when she performs live -- particularly her originals. Here's one of her live performances of "Million Miles" in Norway that's about 2/3 the tempo of her studio recording: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKCugpiMl7mbsKc
