It has welcomed royalties, foreign heads of states and international celebrities like King Juan Carlos I of Spain, Margaret Thatcher and Chuck Norris. Vasily Stalin also made this hotel his permanent address. Hotel Sovietsky also houses Yar Restaurant - one of Moscow's most storied and beautiful restaurants.

So nice to see this hotel again! I stayed in the Sovietsky hotel on 2008 November month for one week. I really enjoyed my staying in this beautiful hotel and the Yar restaurant was excellent. A dinner with a traditional music and dances show and delicious food was unforgettable. And a funny story, me and my girlfriend bought some snacks to eat with a couple shots of vodka. I told to her, the room is too warm the snacks will go bad, there is no fridge in here. She replied back, no problem wait a minute. She opened the window and placed the snacks on the wide marble outside of the window. Here you are, now we have a fridge too! Hahaha was my answer.
