Strictly from a fan (of TCU) perspective, it was a lot more fun winning all the time in the Mountain West than putting together a good team every 5-7 years in the Big 12. Sure, the school is making way more money and the recruits are higher profile, but quite frankly the results are the same. TCU was #2 in the nation at the end of the 2010 season and they are #2 this last season, the difference is TCU won 90%+ of their games the prior 5 years in 2010, they are probably hovering around 60% the last 5 years. Lincoln Riley was smart for leaving for USC because California is a better recruiting region then Oklahoma. If USC and UCLA landed half of the blue chipper recruits from California both teams would be loaded with talent. Plus their backyard is stacked with talent in LA which is a huge benefit. Oklahoma has to recruit out of Texas to remain relevant so they have to compete against a bunch of other programs, including some that they will be playing against in the SEC. The issue with Riley is his defenses because even if he scores 40 points a game in the B1G they will have 50 put on them by the decent teams if they continue to not be able to stop anyone. Most B1G teams are built to run the ball and play good defense because the weather can get bad by the end of the season. Those are the types of physical teams USC struggles with. So they need to fix their defense or they could struggle in the B1G. It's going to be difficult for Texas and Oklahoma in the SEC because they won't be favored to compete for the conference like they are in the Big12 on a yearly basis.

Even if OU goes 6-6 every year the First 48 can still come to Tulsa and glorify life in Oklahoma.

We want championships were tired of winning our conference and not being prepared for the competition ahead. If we don't do well then we probably wouldn't have won a playoff game in the big 12. This is about increasing competition to be better prepared for winning a championship

How would this guy claim that Georgia is bigger than Oklahoma? Is it all time wins? Natty's? Maybe conference championships? He said that @2:37. What's his knowledge of football?

These guys are somewhat off. I’ll say it again like I’ve seen others say. It’s not that he left it’s how he left. He was telling everyone he’s staying, that OU is home and u don’t leave a place like OU. It was the constant stream of lies and his asst coaches, that chose to stay, made him go talk to his team after fake crying to them he’s leaving. He wanted the easy route and he got it. For 2 seasons then he’s off to big 10 lol. Ran from the hardest conference right into the second hardest lol. And USC defense will continue to go down further and further. Especially once Caleb is gone.

Sooners will be just fine in the SEC. 12-0, 11-1 every year? Obviously not. But 9 wins a year and spoiling your teams chances? We'll take it and do our best. Best part? Won't be losing those top recruits who want to play in the SEC as much anymore. We ain't scared

"Grow up" = accepting cowardly, bailing-in-the-middle-of-the-night behavior? Being "grown up" means acting like a man with at least some semblance of honor, with character. Riley showed neither.

Oklahoma, to be successful in the SEC needs to improve. Including recruiting, and I mean recruiting where you have always been successful. Don't expect to recruit Florida or Georgia. Those recruits from the south don't want to play in the north. The SEC Big hitters brought Texas and Oklahoma in so that they can get the best players out of Texas. The SEC played you guys. You've stepped into a trap and don't know it. It took Mizzou till about 2015 or 2016 to discover the truth. Remember that Mizzou won the SEC East Division 2 out of their first 3 seasons. Then about the time that coach Pinkel got sick we found out that Mizzou was only getting 3 star recruits out of the SEC states. By the time they finally woke up it was too late. Mizzou recruited heavy in Texas until they left for the SEC. They neglected the Texas fields and paid the price. They are once again recruiting good in Texas. Oklahoma and Texas have to maintain their Texas contacts or things will turn bad quickly. I don't like Texas and Oklahoma, but I am just warning you. The SEC will encourage you to recruit the SEC states. The best will not come. Keep recruiting Texas or you'll be like Mizzou and Nebraska. The SEC is planning on stripping the best recruits out of Texas. When the Texas kids see those magnificent stadiums in the SEC they are going to be impressed. By the way Oklahoma, Missouri is not the push over that you are counting on. Buyer beware. Vaughn 🐯

They are not going to be playing Bama And UGA every week right? Is that right? They are 2 conf opponents out of 15 correct? See, that is what is so annoying about the SEC, and what is so fun to make fun of. The rest of the league gets some sort of reflected glory off of the 2 or 3 top teams, just because they are in the same conference. First of all, OU is not into that. They will live or die by what THEY accomplish on the field, not by what the best team in the league in any particular year does. No sober OU fan thinks we are going to dominate the the SEC like we have the Big 12 over the last 20+ years. Even Bama has never dominated the SEC to that extent. I love Switzer, but he is a little over the top here (as he is most the time). It will not be Texas week every week. First of all OU/Texas is unique, and there will not be another game like it. Second, we will be adding a few more big games, yes, but not every week. I say OU wins 9-10 games in year one, and a SEC championship by year ten. Agree or disagree is fine, only time will tell.

This is nonsense. Alabama and Georgia are clearly stronger than OU, but OU is solidly in the next tier, and improving. It will be harder, and OU won't go 10 and 2 and 11 and 1 most years, but they can compete for a conference title every other year, or maybe every 3rd year, and then the playoff is likely for OU in years where they compete for the SEC title. Get in the expanded playoff and anything is possible. We have Venables and he has fared well against top SEC programs, just like Bob Stoops did before him. We have our 5 star QB coming in and upgrades at almost every position coming in. Why wouldn't OU be a top SEC program, SMH. Whatever, let's play ball now because we are not scared of playing in the SEC. Riley tried to take the OU coaching staff, and players that he recruited on OUs dime! That's what we "blame the guy" for! Think about this! Most fans were ok with him leaving, but not the way he left. It's really not hard to understand with a little thought. Venables exit from Clemson is a perfect example of how it should be done, and it speaks to each coach's individual character. The difference is easy to see.

Who is the noisy little guy in the big bad mood? The arrogant one... normalizing a train wreck? LR's personal disrespect and disregard for the players wasn't accidental.. Decimating the program for a year... what was that? A hat tip? We've recovered. But a loud lecture justifying unprofessional personal behavior is nonsense on its face.

You guys sound silly of course OU is arrogant you have to be if you want to be the best you gotta beat the best to be the best yeah they dominated the big 12 but the big 12 is not even Close to the SEC as proving by OU record in the playoffs they got demolished by the SEC because their D was trash now with BV at the helm that will definitely change OU and Texas both will be fine and Competitive with everyone just watch and see...

In my opinion with Oklahoma going to the SEC is going to be a little tougher but also Oklahoma being on those other team schedules is going to make it tougher for them Oklahoma is a top 10 School almost every year.. not to mention their recruiting year-in and year-out is better than every team in the SEC other than two schools usually they finished with the number for overall recruiting class and national Gatorade player of year Alabama wanted to hire Jeff Lebby he said no. The jump to the SEC will improve Oklahoma not decline them. It will give them a chance to win a championship every few years just like LSU just like georgia-alabama and so on..
@donaldskipper7063 Жыл бұрын
Why are you overrating the SEC schedule???? Beyond one game with Georgia or Alabama each year, an SEC schedule will not be tougher than the Big !2.
@josephwhite8495 Жыл бұрын
You are under rating the SEC. The 4&5 star average per team is higher! Just look what happened with UGA & TCU. UGA has a stock of better athletes! Bama did it to everyone for years, you might match up with them with starters, but let someone go down because of injuries, illness, personal issues and the drop off was significant. Now Bama & Georgia are doing it. But you will find that SEC teams are deeper in talent below the top level teams. This means more ware and tear on the roster. You have to be deep and have roster management to be competitive at the end of the season. Go Dawgs!!!

They will have to play Georgia or Bama, Tennessee or Florida, LSU or A&M every year and Ohio State or Michigan for their 1 Power 5 non-con game yearly.

Arkansas would be the third most talented team in the lil 12... and is 10th in SEC... this is why the schedule is significantly more challenging what you are used to.
