Hi I think you have the rear plastic hinge pin holder on upside down. It is supposed to clamp the motor mount against the chassis in a sandwich arrangement.
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee, I think it’s all correct, everything went together without an issues and as per the manual. Nothing seems to be standing out to me?
@leehurst69222 жыл бұрын
@@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA just in the video where the motor guard curves round from the top (near wing mount) to the bottom. The bottom sits in a recess I. The plastic part which holds the suspension hinge pins. This recess is supposed to face down towards the chassis plate. I think yours faces upwards and means that the motor plate is not sandwiched between the plastic and the chassis 👍
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
Ahhh yes I did go back and flip that around once I installed the motor as I noticed it is not overly clear at first sight in the manual how it went together

Verry nice build and a fitting motor on top. That kyosho did not bring a LeMans 240S / 240SB brushed motor is a shame, their brushless looks nice but it just looks wrong in the car. The original Ultima had no slipper and no motor guard, the motor guard was not eaven there on the turbo ultima but its really usefull. So Kyosho loaded their rere with a lot of good parts that should keep the originals values up, which is nice. I am sure this one will be great on track ! Original also had a vastly inferior steering assembly. The top plate is as well modified from the original which hat a place to mount a servo for the mechanic speed controller where the fan-mount cutout is on the rere.

The Legendary series certainly raise the bar in terns of quality. I’ve just completed the Turbo Optima and was very impressed. I have the Ultima to build. It’s a shame they are now all out of stock locally. Looking forward to the Optima Mid this year.
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
Yes Lovely Kits, and hopefully Kyosho improves its supply for 2022 and the Mid doesn’t suffer the same problem. I personally would be buying the Mid from overseas to secure one.

When building the differential, did you use the supplied grease or oil? Oil is optional, but the range they give you is crazy - 5,000 to 30,000. How would one even know where to start? Any recommendations for someone building their Ultima?
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
I used the supplied as per the manual

For me I did mine box art in white, but if I was doing it again would probably go for a pearl effect white for extra bling bling. Also, don’t forget the optional bearings in the steering rack.
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’m thinking the white is definitely the better looking. I might see if my local store has any Metallic white in stock. Yeah I did think that the steering could be optioned for bearings. I may revisit that soon 😎👍🏻

Great video. I am about to build this kit and have only built Tamiya kits. Your video shows the difference between an actual race buggy which raced and won in 1987 compared to the standard hobby kits of the time. I will be interested in how the 30T motor performs. I am planning on running a 20T brushed at 8.64 (standard). The good thing about the kit is the amount you can change the gear ratio from 10.80 to 6.17 and then with an optional spur gear all the way down to 4.17
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a lovely Kit. You will notice a huge jump In quality compared to most Tamiya kits. I did a quick test and the 30T motor did surprise me. It was very punchy and wasn’t as too bad. As you say it’s all about gearing at times versus power.

Great video👏👏👏. Kyoshos are awesome. They first might look expensive. But you get so much moremvalue parts in the kit compared to other manufactors. So for me they are quiet fair in the price. You almost need no hop-ups.
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
Yes I totally agree. I always bought and built Tamiya in my youth as Kyosho were a lot more expensive. I am now discovering why 😎👍🏻

I have this car and also the Scorpion. I do not like the bottom loading shocks. They are correct for the time period. I installed top loading shocks on my Scorpion made by Koysho and they work better. I also bought a set of top loading shocks Kyosho for my Ultima too. I have not installed them on my Ultima yet. On my Scorpion it makes a big difference. I guess it depends what you want you car for. If want it to be close to the original than use the bottom loading shocks. Thoughts?
@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA2 жыл бұрын
I’m just a beginner at the Kyosho scene, but I can honestly agree that top load shocks feel a lot better. But these seems to be nice and period correct 😊
