Walkaround and brief history for the 1992 Ford Mustang LX Fox Body. Are the Fox Body mustangs up next? Find out why Gary Klutt believes this is the 60's muscle car of the 90's.
Only 12,087 Miles From New
Factory Original Black Paint With Grey Cloth Interior
5.0L V8 Engine With 5-Speed Manual Transmission
Factory Air Conditioning, Sunroof And Pony Wheels
Power Windows And Power Locks
Exceptional Original Condition And Desirable Specification
Documented With Window Sticker
During the 80’s and early 90’s, the Fox body Mustang was one of the hottest performance cars in the market. Throughout its near 15-year reign, it remained remarkably true to its original concept: a V-8 engine at the top of the spec sheet, a choice between notch, hatch, and convertible body styles, and, of course, rear-wheel drive. The Fox’s common mechanical bits have made it remarkably easy to mix and match newer drivetrain parts with older cars and helped the aftermarket to serve the generation’s entire run.
This 1992 Ford Mustang LX is an amazing original survivor, as many of these cars have been modified, this example remains highly original with only 12,087 from new! Under the hood is the fuel injected 5.0-liter V8 backed by a 5-speed manual transmission which remains in complete stock configuration. The original code “UA” Black paint shows very well and has great luster. The interior looks like new and is outfitted with a factory sunroof, power windows, power locks, air conditioning and AM/FM radio. Throughout collector ownership it has been climate controlled and the undercarriage still shows the factory inspection markings and tags as it left the assembly line. It also still wears its factory 16x7 silver Pony wheels with a set of BF Goodrich radial tires.
Low mileage Fox Body Mustangs that have been unmodified from new are becoming harder to find and more desirable in the collector car market. This example comes documented with a window sticker outlining how it was optioned from new. Don’t miss your opportunity to own a low mileage original example of a future collectible!

I'll tell you a story bout my experience. I had a 88 GTA trans am. My brother purchased a 90 gt. I had to have one. So I went looking, right when I pulled into Springfield Illinois right on the left side of road sitting at a lot was a vermilion Red 91 GT it had factory sun roof, black interior, 5 speed, long tubes, terminator mufflers. They was asking $10,000. Fell in love with it. The jerks at shop wouldn't give me a good trade in amount for my trans am. So I moved on and bought a 89 gt two tone from Terra haute Indiana. The 89 7 months later got totaled out. So I went looking again for one. Alot was ragged out over price. But sitting there in the paper was this 1991 Gt vermilion Red, black interior 5 speed $7500. So I knew this maybe the same Stang. So I meet the guy at gas station in Springfield and sure as crap it was that Stang I wanted originally. I ended up going to there bank and getting it for $6500. The man's wife had to pay out of pocket $350 on what they owed the rest. She wanted it GONE and I gratefully took it. So I ended up getting the Stang way cheaper 7 months later and in fantastic condition. I still enjoy that Stang to this day, It's been 23 years since that Day.

In high school, I helped my best friend get an 87Mustang GT convertible 5 speed, and the owner's manual said. For maximum acceleration, you can shift at 55 miles an hour to the second gea4r. We never tried, but it was in the owner's manual. I believe sticker price was seventeen thousand dollars out of the show room. Great episode.

The time to buy 5.0 Foxbody Mustangs was before around 2020 (give or take) prices literally doubled, but it happens with every generation once the mid-late model run reaches its 30 year mark. Prices may continue to increase a tiny bit on some of the rarer models. For the most part I believe we’ve seen the top… and anyone looking to invest in a Foxbody Mustang, well that parade has already marched by. Someone wanting to “invest” in a Mustang should be looking at the “New-Edge” Cobra, Mach 1, Bullitt, Saleen and Roush models, as well as original and low mileage GT models. Right now prices on these are in that “affordable window” but that window is beginning to shut and in the next 10 years prices will skyrocket on these cars. Buy low sell high, and enjoy the in between lol.

This was the one of the last "cheap" V8 cars that almost anyone could get into. So now we have yuppies hyping it up, and not to mention the on setting inflation of the $. Those major factors make it unaffordable for the average person to get into a decent Foxbody nowadays.

Don't hate them but never really liked them. Yeah the performance for the time was really good and they were relatively fun to drive in a straight line, but over all they just weren't that great in my opinion. Reliability was better than GM crap at the time but that's not saying much. And the shifters on those things were awful. Clunky and notchy. I remember driving various 80's honda's...civics and preludes and how buttery amazing the shifters were and then getting into a cobra and thinking what the hell is wrong with this thing. Again....they were only slightly better than GM shifters (had an 80's camero) which were awful too. At the time the power used to impress me but looking back, even though it's way more under powered, the 1984 Prelude I used to drive regularly was far more fun of a car to drive than the 90 Cobra 5.0 I had regular access to later on.

@@motownXJdad9565 Hatchbacks are not fastbacks lol. Last time I checked a 68 fastback doesn’t have the entire back of the cars roof lift up lol. Also it’s not a fad the prices on notchbacks have steadily been going up the last 5 years. Just because 67-70 fastbacks are desirable doesn’t mean hatchback fox body’s would be the most desirable. The writing is on the wall and the notchback fox body won the desirability contest hands down. Dad had his notch 5.0 from 92 (brand new) until 17. Almost literally drove it until the wheels fell off (415k on the odo). Motor mounts and some of the floor supports in the back of the car had started to waste away. Learned to drive the stick in it myself. Despite its roughness in the end that little 302 would still roast the tires easily through 1st and give me a little rubber going into 2nd. 😁

Unmodified these cars are substandard compared to anything modern. The floorpans are flimsy, the brakes are weak, and the rear suspension is completely inadequate for spirited driving. You are correct. Nice examples of these cars are few and far between. Always drempt about having one of these in high school but so far outta reach. Still want to have an earlier Saleen but for now I did finally get a decent lower mileage GT convertible. Wonderful car to drive and enjoy.

A '92 LX 5.0 coupe is my daily driver. I also bought a '93 Cobra new, which now only comes out for special occasions. Both are fun, satisfying cars to drive, and pretty easy to work on. Parts availability is quite good, and parts prices continue to be very reasonable.

Oh you mean like every other 14 second 60’s muscle car was...even hemi cuda only ran mid 13 sec 1/4 mile and drives like a truck. Not to mention couldn’t take a corner whatsoever. Your opinion is no different then the older guys who use to call muscle cars ugly because they never had the design of the 30’s classics or the guys who think the 50’s has the best looking cars. Every generation has a different nostalgia and connection to different cars.

Well I had two 85 GT's, an 88 LX 5.0 and still have my 89 Saleen. The 5.0 Mustangs were the street racers choice. Mainly because the were light and cheap to buy. An LX coupe with the 5.0, manual and 3.08 gears was a low 14, high 13 second car off the showroom floor. The Camaro and Firebird were heavy, expensive and slow but they were better handling cars and had 4-wheel discs brakes.

The LX 5.0 was the one to have for performance. Magazines back then raved about the LX notch back as being one of the lightest cars you could start with, then add a few bolts-on, and you were flying. This car is so clean, you’d think it was 1993. Thanks, as always.

I bought a used 1992 5.0 LX Notch from the orginal owner in May of 1994. I wanted the LX notch because it was lighter and stiffer than the GT Hatches. I still have the car today and I have no intention of selling it. Its just a fun car to drive and being a 5.0 notch back LX it's also fairly rare.

The fox body GT mustang is a great car! If you were a teenager in in the late 80's early 90's this was THE car to have! The 5.0 exhausted sounded great for the time period and those wheels are timeless. When the mustang body style changed in 94 everyone forgot about these...... glad they are coming back.

Just sold one of my '93 GTs this past Friday. Bone stock, never modded. The guy who was bugging me to buy it wanted it for a father/son project. I wasn't driving it on a regular basis, and it's not good to just let them sit around, so I caved. It runs and drives great, but it needs some work (e.g. - body and paint work, new tires, new headlights, new battery, and some other minor mechanicals). Some of these mechanisms are needed just to get it to pass a PA state inspection. Oh, well, it's his project now. I still have my Medium Blue Metallic '93 GT, also a 5-spd but in much better shape. 😄👍✌🇺🇸

I purchased a 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 5 spd with 32 000kms on it in 1990 for $6500. The car got wrecked in the summer of 1993 when a little old lady turned left in front of me, insurance paid me $6200. Back then it was impossible to find a decent replacement 5L for $6000 to $7000. To say one can find a decent foxbody 5L Mustang now for $6-7000 is not even close to accurate. What is accurate is that the era of foxbody Mustangs 1987 to 1993 are appreciating in value, certainly more than the price paid when they were new. I miss mine! Do I need one, No. Do I want another one, yes!! Thanks for the video, certainly a nice example of a foxbody mustang, clean enough to be worthy of a place at Legendary Motorcar, in the what's up & coming section.
