@@LegendaryTactics is an EXCELLENT interviewer! their entire team does excellent work. so much fun to share this strategy with Legendary Tactics and the world. i suspect Legendary Tactics is a very good Diplomacy player in their own right

@@matthewcasey7083 It was a pleasure to have you on the channel. I don't play as much as I ought to. There are just so many great games out there.

Italy can survive a long time, but its hard to win. The goal is to simply outlast Austria, gain Trieste, and then see what opportunities come from surrounding chaos.
@LegendaryTactics8 ай бұрын
Yep, although it is interesting that there are some players that win with Italy a disproportionate amount of time, so there might be a to bit more to it... Always a good idea to look weak: "Hey, I'm Italy! What could I possibly do to you?"

The map at 15:30 explains the weakness in this strategy. Turkey can completely obliterate Italy in one move.
@LegendaryTactics Жыл бұрын
It definitely requires a lot of trust with turkey and in this game, trust is a precious commodity

I'm sorry to say, this strategy is based on false premises. Let me explain: 1) the fact that italy is the weakest power and/or least likely to succeed is based on old data and only true in low-level games. Experienced players know how to exploit Italy's strenght. Italy is just as powerful as the other powers, but it is less straightforward to play, and that's why newbies have difficulties. 2) the interviewee mentions he doesn't like the italy-austria alliance because it forces the italian player to rely on austria. As a solution, he suggests allying with Turkey and totally relying on them >

You make some very good points.
@Sploack Жыл бұрын
@@LegendaryTactics i have to concede that I'm only taking into account strategic consideration. If we consider the human element, perhaps the fact that this alliance is so risky for italy might incentivise turkey to stick with them, just to "prove a point". So it must have some value :)

Regarding your interviewers plans with stuffing around Germany in the early game, who does this benefit more - France or Germany ? As well, which of France or Germany is more likely to attack Italy once the other is crippled ? That'd be France in both cases, right ? It is *possible* that grabbing Munich in 1901 might benefit Italy - but you're way better off doing it with German consent, as part of building more fleets faster, with the idea of losing it back to Germany in 1902.
