Interesting stuff, I was just thinking about Mr. San Felice's eastern Supes theories, it is always a battle in my mind east v west for the LDM. Lots of prominent peaks all over besides Weavers. Those draws through Queen Valley and the trails up towards Tortilla would seem to be a contender for a military trail from McDowell to Pinal. And then there is always the travel time to Florence for supplies, not to mention Wagoner's stage coach tale.

It’s easy to think about it if you forget it is a vertical shaft that leads to a horizontal tunnel. Calling it the pit mine is such a wrong way to refer to it. Call it the silver king which was developed while supposedly Waltz was in the area kind of negates a lot of the proof. He said his last trip to the mine was ten years earlier and nothing had changed. It’s a silver mine that obviously had gold in it.

@@legendofthesuperstitionmou969 right, I guess you are talking about the pit mine specifically, and those are excellent points, but just generally speaking I think there is something to be said for that Rogers trough corridor area for LDM (excuse my ignorance of the exact trail systems in the vicinity, I need to go study Carlson). I wonder if any of the trails leading that way can be viewed from "the board house"

@@kj7a-- pick a boardhouse then, not the QCU. It all sounds really good until your there and think about it. Then it’s just another vertical shaft. Funny thing is they never mention the other one above it. One filled in naturally and the other looks the same 20 years later. It’s almost like someone does t want anyone looking to closely at it

This was recorded 35+ years ago on a vhs recorder. It was probably the pinnacle of technology at the time. They posted it here to today to preserve it from decay rendering it lost. So appreciate it for what it’s worth, a time capsule of simpler times and far less people and resources that we have access today. One day these mines and roads will be filled in, if they have not already been done so and the roads will become impassable and closed and lost to time line the grown over trails. This will be a way for those who come later to discover these lost places , similar to how we look for forgotten roads and mines that once held vast amounts of gold and history. Back 100 years ago nobody thought they would be of interest nor lost to become their own legends. If you feel you can improve upon a 35+ year old video with your much better camera, feel free to do so. The Superstition Wilderness is there for anyone who wants to go there and in 35 years you can explain to people like yourself why your video from your phone was the pinnacle of technology and they should be glad you documented your experiences.

Theres not much you can do with the older footage and its not in very good shape. The 8mm is usually better than the VHS.
