I feel like the AI handicaps itself the second it runs on Legends computer. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy who sent this in was charged at and overwhelmed, where as in this the enemy just sat there at the start for so long, taking damage xD

It's the VH battle AI, it simulates "very hard" by using regimented style tactics (i.e. using the army all at once effectively, rather than piecemeal). Hard difficulty has a much lower threshold to 'wake up' the AI, so ironically this battle would likely be harder on a lower difficulty with the AI being more aggressive and far less defensive, with each unit working to aggressively perform well on an individual level. Then you just add Legend into the mix, who knows how said AI plays and handles battle and is just a good player in general (and a helping hand of derped AI ofc), and it seems stupidly easier by comparison

having a tank that fires while moving and manage to hit something is actually quite a feat. those renaissance marvels seems to have a descent transmission, fire control system, heat evacuation (in real life a steam engine tank would just cook its crew and barely move forward )

To be fair, as shown with WH40K, the only group that would really suffer would be maybe the Elves and mostly the Bretonnians where a steel ball turns into steel grapeshot and then steel HE rounds. The rest can make do with their scrap weapons, magical abilities, or strike back with their own steel ranged weapons.

Their bow skills are also still great and if all else fails, humble them with dragons. The Bretonnians however would need to stop their self imposed devolution unless they plan to turn everyone into Grail Knights levels of strengths.

Hey- I have recently started getting into Total War- I like your Videos - I am doing really well on the campaign part - but I kinda struggle to understand these "keywords" that units have and how to use stuff most effectivly ? - Your Videos definitly helped, love your desaster Battle series, but could you maybe do a more beginner friendly version where you explain a bit more ? :D - Main thing is I usually play Woodelves - Highelves - Cathay (that order) - and it sais my units are supposed to have strength and weaknesses but I dont really notice it ? Usually my archers/Gunners do all the work no matter what I am up against. (Also I would love some recommandations on how to make your heroes so crazy tanky like I see in some of these videos)

I know you don't play with mods much but maybe you can showcase some of the amazing unit mods like the dwarven steam tanks on the steam workshop? a lot of the unit mods are incredibly well made and fun. Get those guys more exposure Legend!

Legend, how do you deal with AI seemingly just always being able to outrun you on the campaign map? My biggest struggle isnt necessarily combat or diplomacy or anything like that, its just when I get stuck in endless chases where I cant leave a spot, the AI wont leave a spot, I cant catch them and if I leave they just run through my settlements. This happens with skaven, a few areas around the empire and mountains where retreating enemies just go way too far. I always spec into movement and try to get heroes that boost movement to avoid this. I've started trying to lay ambushes. But it just feels like I'm dedicating SO MUCH TIME into just being able to catch an enemy in combat that I'm never able to make good pacing in my campaigns. This recently happened in a Belekor campaign. I needed the enemy to have its last army in their last base but Kemmler just kept being 1 pixel out of reach. I'd catch him and he'd retreat around a river, running almost 2 full turns of movement away and I could NEVER subjugate him because of it.

One good way is, when there's an army you can reach, but you know they'll just retreat out of movement range if you reach them, move to attack them, then hit backspace to cancel the movement after your unit enters the little circle around them, but before they actually touch them to start the battle. The enemy army will be trapped inside your little circle, and won't be able to leave. End turn, and on your next turn, you'll start right next to them, so can attack, force the retreat, then still catch them. Sometimes underway armies can still get away, but they don't always, and if they do, sometimes you get an underway intercept battle. Another good one is use decoy armies consisting of a single, highly expendable lord. Park them somewhere the AI can reach, then put a real army next to them in ambush stance. It doesn't always work, but, often the AI will take the bait. Also, there are mods that can help. I forget the name, but I know there's one that cuts AI movement by like 50% if they're within your territory.

If you just have a large army AI will keep evading you by force marching out of range - you can't reach them in regular stance and you can't attack them in forced march. Use two-army strats: version 1: small army in regular stance, big army in ambush stance next to it. If ambush roll doesn't fail AI usually tries to kill the small army and gets ambushed. version 2: attack with large army, enemy retreats just out of range. switch large army to force march and close in, then initiate attack with the small army and get large army come in as reinforcement.

Teams of armies, especially one made of fast units to either reinforce quickly or evade/bait while waiting for reinforcements can do well, especially with ambushes. Also, don't forget about Block Army heroes. They can be really useful. Finally, "undefended" settlement with an army in ambush next to it works quite well as bait, if you don't want/have armies.

Sometimes they just wont even try though. Maybe its because I only play on hard campaign normal battle difficulty

Are all these recent disaster battles being sent in by people who can't play actualy battles and just auto resolve everything? Then they refuse to turn down the difficulty to win the auto resolve because NONE of the disaster battles that Lengend have been sent in recently have actually been disaster battles, if you can't win with 11 tanks and you refuse to put the auto resolve difficulty down then perhaps you shouldn't be playing the game........
