Isolated in a pillbox during an interrogation, he manages to overpower and kill his interrogator, whose pistol he has stolen. Not stopping there, he brought back 42 new prisoners and his wounded lieutenant on his back. He was dubbed "The first soldier of France" because when there was a battle, he would always be the first on the frontlines. Sabaton made a song about him called "The first soldier"

Difference is, with Karl, even if he didn't accept it, the player could just offer it again when they get it back. But, if the tier 4 gets attacked and lost over end turn, then selling it isn't even an option and it becomes a major disaster in the region with the armies sandwiched between ogres rampaging with no armies nearby and crisis skaven that are stronger than the frontline armies.

Same here. I went from hard to very hard and it's like I'm back in medieval 2. I actually have to protect my flanks, can't get the a.i. to waste its ammunition nearly as well, have to time my spells better now, and they even try dodging artillery now instead of getting absolutely wiped. Much more of a challenge.

@@stevengull6703 Except that the AI becomes incredibly predictable on VH difficulty, to the point that you actively have to limit your tactics if you want most enemy armies to put up a fight. Otherwise you simply cheese them like in 99% of Legend's videos.

@mattandrews2594 they become incredibly predictable on every single difficulty. I've been playing on hard for a year and I knew exactly what they were going to do every time. At least now they don't just throw themselves against my frontline. They actually flank me with infantry. This has always been the case for literally every single total war game ever. If dumb a.i. is your compliant stop playing video games period. Never have I ever had a single game where the a.i. played smarter than actual players. Most games I play are strategy games, and if you have even the basic understanding of line fighting, then they'll never be better than you unless they just overwhelm you with sheer numbers.

These are my favorite types of LegendofTotalWar videos. It show cases how to *really* play better because there's so much more to the game beyond just fighting a battle. Where and how to maneuver armies can make impactful changes throughout the entire campaign. Incentivizing an enemy to go one way over the other.

Fully agreed! I'd highly recommend this video to all beginner and intermediate players who want to improve their game, and I think that even experienced players will get a lot out of it. I for one didn't know that it has to be a factions turn for them to pull you out of ambush stance, and fake-attacking the Dark Elves just to get bounced across the river was such a great move. Great video!

I think my biggest mistake was that i declared wars left and right so i didnot have army to back him up for situations like this. If Boris got killed i didnot think that it would be end of this campaing but since i did most of conquering with him i was interested how could you get out of this situation. Vampire Coast taught me this lesson. Losing your LL or one of your legendary admirals will set you back, but once you have a decent economy, you can send stack after stack into the grinder with minimal consequences.

I seriously need to retrain my brain to think like this, I feel like coming back after getting destroyed would be super fun but when I’m playing I never actually let it happen. Anytime there’s some impossible fight I’ll do it 20 times or so until I eventually cheese out a win. Then I get campaign fatigue cuz I just spent four hours on one fight 😭

I also play with only one or 2 patriarchs for multiple reasons : -I wanna play "total war", not "the avengers". Hero are duelists or support, not the main focus of the army. -the multiple patriarchs strat doesn't fit my playstyle. -(the most important) patriarchs have a 50% chance to have a stupidly annoying voice.

@@ChibiNyan It's not about the avengers. Do you even know what patriarchs provide to the faction? End turn replenishment, amazing buffs for your armies. Not to mention, Legend just gave away a settlement to the ogres because he didn't have vision on the map. The skaven vermintide just popped up and we have no idea where the remaining skaven settlements are. Having heroes give you world vision, which is invaluable in knowing where to defend or ambush or attack. Your "playstyle" must involve losing a lot of battles and settlements if you're not using heroes

@@danthecanadian Yea, that's why I like those Nurgle infection plague priests, use them as spotters for enemy/neutral armies and when I need to catch them, I pop the priest on them with -20% campaign movement and a melee, armor or range debuff. Early game usually i go for as many agents as I can, and use those to spot and level up with actions, then when needed, slap them onto an army for panic defense or surprise offense.

This video with your easy difficulty disaster campaign autoresolve problem have in the space of 3 days upped my warhammer 3 game massively. First off, I dont know how after playing 1,2 and 3 I didn't know I had the AI modifier set to max. I usually play on Hard/Very Hard, but generally still struggled in battles, I set that to the easiest setting and my god I am now a tactical master, finally my tactics are working more often, and I am enjoying the battles more. I will eventually work that back up to a harder setting, but its nice to finally feel like rear charging was working as I expected it to, as before I still had a high chance even when playing my best the AI would just grind through me in the battles. And today I see you trading settlements for useful things like peace. I did this yesterday for the first time, by trading away settlements that were about to be attacked by wood elves (early chaos campaign), it worked amazingly, I basically kept moving this wood elves army away, trading settlements id lose anyway, give them to the orks, got myself a vassal out of it. Dont usually like vassals, but it felt too funny not to do; chaos with ork vassals! what could go wrong?! Anyway, big respect for all the dedication, my favourite total warhammer channel. Love still learning and actually getting better!

A good lesson to take from this one is that if the AI is bearing down on you with a seemingly unbeatable cluster of high tier armies, always stall for time rather than do what they want and meet them with what you've got. There's a VERY good chance that at some point they'll split up and/or do something stupid, like the Dark Elves did here by leaving one of their armies where the random High Elf force would reinforce. One decisive victory is all it takes for the momentum to shift.

Well his Difficulty was Very Hard it said it right there on the screen the Ai stats modifier only kicks in if he fights a battle the Ai will still recruit as many armies and be as aggressive as they are in Very Hard with the same upkeep reduction cheats they get if he goes around auto resolving the stat's modifier has very little impact on the Campaign.

Streltsi are really bad about having their line of fire blocked. You need to get them in a checker board formation to make use of them. As soon as they're directly behind another infantry unit they don't do much.

So, if you use a mod like SFO that includes a lot of unit caps then you’ll need a lot of barracks buildings in order to field more high tier units, but otherwise, it’s best to concentrate your recruiting in a select few provinces so you get all the recruit rank and recruitment slot buffs in specific places
