this is my save file. again. firstly, hats off to legend for saving this. I tried microing infantry to waste enemy ammo which was working until outriders blew everyone up. Then hugging the walls and ambushing them as they came thru the breach but outriders started lobbing shots even though crossbows could not. then I tried making barricades everywhere(without putting units) and wasting their ammo on them which they ignored. Finally I tried hiding in a relatively closed space so they cannot use much ammo but steam tanks started terror routing everyone. after that I was all out of ideas and sent it to legend. I'm still learning the ropes of legendary difficulty👶. hope everyone enjoys the vid and never encounter them👍

I feel like the great cannon and even the mortars could have done more work there, I think I could also beat it, but this is a battle to cheese the AI. It might take a few attempts to make sure the steam takes stay outside like they did in this video. Waste the hellstorm ammo and try to trade with the outriders. I'd have either tried to push the outriders in a corner or sandwich them with melee or let melee units get shot while crossbows shot them. Will admit, I don't understand AI ranged targeting as well as he does.

@@ScamallDorcha You don't know Alith very well, lol. He would tell everyone involved to gtfo of his land and threaten to wipe them out if they didn't leave quickly. The Phoenix king led a massive coalition of ALL remaining good high elves/dragons against Malekith into Nagarythe and directly after the battle, when they were shredded, seeing to their wounded, and trying to breathe for a minute after the most vicious battle ever, Alith showed up, surrounded them with his warriors, and told them to gtfo or he would wipe them out, and that he would take care of finishing Malekith himself, and if they didn't like it, they wouldn't be alive long enough to whine about it, lol. It turned out to be a HUGE mistake and gave Malekith and Morathi time to open a path for Chaos to sweep through Ulthuan and turned Nagarythe into the shadowlands/wastelands it is now....but that is how Alith acted towards the good guys he was on relatively good terms with/had fought with before.

You mean everything except for carrion? Legend has stated his opinion multiple times on the viability of different units (he gets asked that like every stream and the answer is almost always the same), the challenge in WH3 is sorely lacking compared to WH2 and at the same time there's no real reason to doomstack anymore thanks to lower supply lines. It's much more important how you use said units, not what said units are. Most of them bring some sort of tactical use, some are better, some are worse, but anything other than carrion can work unless the odds are really stacked against you. Even the 2 meme stacks in his recent HE streams with white lions of chrace and tiranoc chariots worked surprisingly well when paired up together

@@bohemond7426 theres more units than just carrion which underperform and theres units in most newer factions that overperform,the extremes arent there like in wh2,but still those kind of videos would be helpfull because i dont think most people really watch livestreams and would use some tips on which units to prioritize

Vashnaar is a run ender in the early game, but the Pyros are a threat even in the late game. I usually try to gang up on them when they turn up rather than wait for them to attack.

Vashnaar is bad, but unless you're running a single entity army, College is deadly, and with all the steamtanks, even single entities are threatened. But infantry and cavalry mostly just get shredded. I hate the College SO MUCH.

loved this battle, most of the map was used, very frantic pockets of troops fighting off the invaders, losing some ground but retaking it in the end. it was intense, cinematic and epic. well played legend living up to your name good sir

In WH2 there was a faction unlock mod that allowed you to play as any faction in the game including rogue armies. The College of Pyrotechnics was definitely one of my many favourites. I hope Juggernaut999 makes it for WH3 but I'm not holding my breath.

Gotta give Legend due credit. I’ve always liked the idea of the total war series but the learning curve and my limited gaming time meant I usually ignored it. Tried TWH2 and got about 20 turns into a Tyrion tutorial run before the AI on normal just flattened me - especially sea battles. Been watching Legends videos for a few months. Got Rome Total War, and just got a heroic victory against Britons using 3 town watch, 3 maimed velites and a war dog against war bands, head hurlers, and druids. Did I cheese it? Sort of? Dogs were perfect for chomping on head hurlers while Town Watch held out agains melee and Velites running out of ammo. Lost about half of my force, but killed a force twice my size and power. I’m not ever going to get to Legends skill, but I’ve been conquering the shit out of Europe and having a blast instead of cursing that my Hastati don’t throw pila fast enough

When Warhammer 2 first launched there was a bug where the general of this army would spawn as a *Treeman.* A very *Flamable* Treeman. Seeing it hanging around the bottom of Lustria always gave me a giggle.

That's easily explained away by the official lore being how the cannon universe chose to run the empire, this is an alternate universe where the actual principle of total war is in effect- all economics, research and industry are in service of the war effort. Because even in a fantasy universe, when the money is put up to do it, humans will fill the contract.

Normal Warhammer Lore: Steam Tanks are so rare, we built 13 and promptly forgot how to build anymore. Each one we lose is lost for ever. Warhammer Total War Lore: "Sir this crazy fireworks guy built 8 steam tanks... again. Also Nuln wants to know if you want another upgraded steam tank. I've had similar situation, but I played high elves. I had some infantry thin and close to the wall, so that grenadiers couldn't just walk through efficiently. Also a lot of them tried to shout through the wall britches, which obviously didn't work.

If you're not fighting at least some siege battles as intended you're missing a very fun aspect of the game. I love the changes they made to siege battles with the higher health for everything. Some siege battles are a little boring depending on the faction you're fighting or the settlement it's in but a lot of the time I have a blast with them. I try to auto resolve as many as I can in my vampire counts campaign because it's a damn slog but a lot of factions make them very thematic and fun with ranged/artillery units.

I still remember my first encounter with these guys on my first High Elves campaign. Holy shit they stomped me into the mud. I assumed all rogue armies were as strong as they were and just started paying them to leave me alone.

I had myself a fight against them in TWW2. I had done numerous battles in very short order with Belegar and was starting to move towards the Badlands and Karak Eight Peaks. Some Warriors but mostly Rangers. I engaged them around Matorca thinking I’d get some easy kille along the way. Initiated battle and only moved my rangers up to pick off units one by one. It ended up almost being a rout because I hadn’t realized how much hurt those Outriders could churn out nor how durable the Steam Tanks were. Very memorable battle though.

ngl ive never seen how the placements work on the warhammer games because they never attack my major settlements, and only starve them out. That and minor settlements dont have their own battles because the small indie dev team of 0.5 people can't be bothered to make them over the course of 3 $70 games

25:50 For me it is always worth putting guys on the walls. At least 1-2 units on each flank to get the towers smacking. I don't care about losing them because it is usually garrison and usually, they just retreat out of there with 20 entities anyway. I don't understand how you meant that. Tower does 2-8 units worth of damage. If their AI breaks as it usually does, and they just stand in the field, it is on the higher end

I once faced the same army. Except it was more hellstorm rocket batteries instead of horses. I had like only 3 horses, 5 Tanks, and the rest hellstorm rockets

Easiest way for the last tank may have been to just use the mortars, since they are not as picky with the line of sight. Tank was stuck anyways, and fiddling around with the infantry/cannons looked like a hassle a lazy guy like me would try to avoid.

Fucking hell, I hate them. I once pulled a miracle of defending a city (exiles of khorne) with just the garrison (no walls) a lord and 3 units. All that was left was 3 teared to pieces warriors of khorne units and 1 unit of war hounds that ate all of the grenade launchers. Took all the 60 minutes to a draw, the entire city was with tier 4 towers and barricades. All that was left was 1 single tank that I kept going between the last two capture points by constantly recapturing it with the hounds. There was so much cheese and bug abuse on that battle that even legend would be proud.

Wow, the Warhammer 3 sieges are hell of a lot better than any other TW. The constructibles and towers, being able to face inwards on walls. I just got so tired of giving CA my money I never bought it.
