Spears were the only melee infantry worth getting in wh2. Charge def + anti large is always good to have.

@@Blazimirus Yeah. I hated that. I remember wanting to play with the dwarfs using Hammerers and Longbeards with great weapons, but they where destroyed completely. Luckily SFO was able to balance infantry so good.

They should have just made it so that only one point the defender _needs_ and the rest just give melee buffs to defenders on it while they control it (local buff) and leadership buffs mapwide (so that the defender has an incentive to hold it)

I’ve always wanted to send in a disaster battle but I’ve watched so many by this point that I can win all the ones that are possible and know which ones aren’t. Thank you legend for consistently turning noobs into pros!

I never had the AI ignore the capture points. In all my games there priority are the capture points.

I have a mix. Either they run around the city letting half their army die while they cap points I've built nothing at, or they let the towers kill half their army while they run right over the points to reach me.

@@poolemon9016 for me they usually destroy my towers on sight with ranged or flying units and move bit by bit while capping all points an there way to my position.

In my experience they typically go for all the points on minor settlements, but rush for the main two points on walled settlements.

same here i made the mistake thinking the Ai was dumb and they wouldn't go for a capture point, i was under siege by a much stronger clan moulder and i was playing as a Greenskins garrison party and i literally managed to destroy the army thinking i was going to win and not knowing that Thrott and some other units went behind and was heading for the capture point and my army at this point was nearly destroyed and i had 0 chance to win

One of the things I've learned with Cathay and ranged units, is that they are way more efficient if you set up killboxes. If you have two units holding a choke, instead of lining , create a funnel. Units will naturally stop, and your range will have clear LoS

@@todhold2673 eh not really, it's something about how they did archers they seem to have a hard time firing when a friendly unit is right in front of them. Warhammer 2 had same problem at launch. For now what I do is set up L formations in settlement battles especially with kislev, they have the choice they can get shot in the flank by the bows or the armored kossar pistols.

​@@KamikazKid guns are harder. space your troops better I guess. I've literally never had this issue with any bow unit. only time they get weird about firing is with some walled settlements

@@KamikazKid I mean in reality, archers shooting over the head of friendly units to attempt to kill enemies engaged in melee with them shouldn't work well. Flanking arrows should always be incentivized bc that's what would actually do damage

It does make huge difference, thanks to you I learned that and started planning where to position units. Some settlements are terrible to defend or have bad towers (Tzeentch mainly and Norsca)

For the better,H2h units are actually viable..and magic is weaker as well.I am not a fan of siege rework,however most changes make game more enjoyable.

Before I started watching your videos years ago, I was doing the sieges how you would think it would be the most effective way in real life and how the game pushes you to do. And I would always eat shit, at least more than I thought I should. Since I learned the right way thanks to you, it's honestly almost laughably easy for defending sieges. I only play on hard not very hard battles but it's getting to the point I may have to up it. You can just shit on very strong armies with this Strat. I wish the most effective strategy was more aligned with what they intended; I think it would be more fun. But it isn't and that's on their design.

with clan skyre sieges are an absolute jokee, u just position your waepons team where the innerwall tower can´t shoot it and wait 30 mins till no ones a live anymore gg

The new siege maps are such rubbish in my view. They look nothing like cities or forts and they just make battle messy and super micro intensive. It’s such a weird backward way 🤷‍♂️

I fully agree. It wasn`t great in WH2 but at least it was siege battles. Now it`s a weired battle for capture points mixed with tower defense, and they increased the amount of siege battle too much. WH3 is defo not as a good game as WH2 was. They need to turn minor settlements without walls into land battles and they should stop that build during siege tower / barrier construction. Just let it set from the start like in Empire and let`s go.

I like it. Back in the day a siege for minor settlement was just a field battle, and castle battles where basically cheese, destroying things for an hour with magic, now they can build towers, its WAY more difficult and time is of the essence. I just wish AI also build advanced towers.

Concerning walled settlements: "SKAVEN TOWERS" are absolutely brutal! I held Skavenblight - as dwarf - and only had the "level 3 garrison" available (no extra walls built) against a full beastmen army. I lost the battle, but the towers on the walls managed to shoot up at least three units to the point of them fleeing the battlefield. Having "free troops" - Empire infantry - from an outpost is great too, because humies run faster (slightly) than stunties.

While walled sieges require to defend two points, you can take time to chokepoint it with barricades after the battle has started, because there's different AIs responsible for path-finding outside and inside the walls. Outside AI will not target the victory-points, so the enemy will often only attack the barricades that were built after they got through the walls

I wish there was an option to disable shooting at shattered units for ranged units... Hope they implement something like that.

If there is another unit that is not shattered nor retreating in range, they will prioritize that unit. What Im glad about is that now killing retreating units gives EXP

@@DIEGhostfish At that point, there's gotta be an unbreakable unit, so your archers can prioritize targeting. When the enemy is defeated, ranged units will prioritize anything that is at range

exactly, i've had some valiant defeats with the wood elves and all i did was go into a corner and let my archers ju st afk and shoot while dryads and melee just tank

I've been asking CA for a decade now to implement something during sieges where you as the defender can resupply arrows etc. for your units...

That exists in survival battles. In sieges you already have an advantage (both wall towers and buildable ones, barricades and choke points) having the survival replenishment system on top of that is just too much and makes the sieges way too easy for the defender!

Legend, or wise warhammer fans, why do my lead bealchers or deck hands not shoot during sieges 😔 I turn skirmish off and tell them to shoot someone right in front of them, and they just stand there and get shot, or run in and start to melee 😭 please part your wisdom on me gamers

sounds like line of sight problems, if your units overlap they won't fire because they are obstructed by models of the nearby unit, this also happens with gun units on certain terrain they are obstructed and they can't shoot over melee troops in front of them.

AI cheats in melee got tuned down basically VH battle diff is WH2 hard so melee is actually very viable now

Ah man, common "Valiant Defeat" with full army in castle, is not a disaster battle at all. Its VERY simple battle. Anything "Valiant" can be easily beaten even on Very Hard/Legendary.

During my last campaign AI spirit-liching my characters constantly and it was pretty annoying without much healing as Kislev. Also, is Boris quest bugged? Did not received it in my campaign despite controling Kislev major cities for more than 10 turns.

@@dmitriyk.2890 Yeah unfortunately you have to unlock him in Realms of Chaos first. I just did a quick Katarin campaign on easy mode and auto-resolved everything so that I could get him unlocked as quickly as possible and get back to IE lol

The minor settlements are easier to defend than the major ones is my big gripe. All you have to do is clump up on a single choke point, hold that point & build the level 3 tower and you can hold off 2-3x your numbers.
