Last Defenders really are the most fun lizardman campaign. It feels rewarding to conquer the Southlands, restore the geomantic web, and then sail across the sea and rescue Gor-Rok and Skink Jesus. I had one campaign where Gor-Rok had one settlement left (Axlotl) the settlement that has the chamelon shrine Landmark. I got Oxyotl and Kroq-Gar to come in and save him as the city was being besieged and confederated him next turn. It was like some eleventh-hour lore stuff. To this day it was my favorite campaign I ever played.

I had this same problem when I did a last defenders playthrough. Thorek just hated me so much for no reason right at the start of the game and started fielding torpedos and cannons while I was still getting by with basic saurus and skinks. Managed to eventually get rid of him by selling him settlements for peace until I had a stegadon doomstack, then I flattened the little stunty

I cant remember the start position but are you in dwarf territory and the new grudge system makes him want to kill you

There's a reason why every last defenders campaign by turn 3-5 always start negotiations with Thorek, declare war against the token ork starter Faction and even bowmen of Orean if you get forest vs jungle. You can use his to help kill Khalida and even Skarbrand once you start westward.

This feels like serious deja-vu with another disaster battle where you used the same strategy of blobbing and a skink priest. I think that was against Skaven though. Excellent to see how it works against the stunties

Love these disaster battles were the best thing you can do is keeping their most dangerous busy until you deal with the rest of their army so you eventually army loss them without fighting them much.

Did not notice when they changed the runes up. I heard they patched them but I didn't know they changed, for example, the rune of stoicism to giving unbreakable in an aura around.

It could be a newer player or someone who hasn't tried lizardmen yet. I mean I got like 4 thousand hours between TWW2 and TWW3 and have played every faction. Legend has like 16000 hours between Warhammer 2 and 3 and is tiers above a diehard like me. A lot of normie players exclusively play high elves or the Empire. Lizardmen take some time to learn since they're not really a missile based faction which most people prefer to play. Granted, Kroq-Gar has a pretty easy campaign. If you wipe out Thorek and Skarbrand early and avoid Kairos until you have most of the southlands, it's a cakewalk. It's not like Tehenhauin's campaign where the whole vermintide is after you and you can't recruit saurus initially. I actually got a lot better at this game watching Legend play TWW2 so hopefully this inexperienced player gets better from seeing how to actually play lizardmen.
