Vasyl is what i was hoping kramnik would become. Far from the glory days but instead of complaining and being bitter, he just continues to quietly play and occasionally reminds the younger generation of the absolute monster he once was

Peter Svidler on Wesley (Im paraphrasing a bit here): In a way this a quintessential Wesley game. He had a great position at some point but chose a safe option that lost most of the advantage. That's been his approach to complex positions in recent years. And that's a shame bc he's a fantastic player that could reach unbelievable height when you force him to play

Pro Tip: Don't just watch his videos. Set up a board, go through the moves as he says them aloud. But when he switches to a variation that COULD HAVE or SHOULD HAVE occurred; don't move the physical pieces on your board. Imagine the pieces moving in your head. This channel will increase your playing strength immediately.
@arkzbh

Non pro tip (unless you are over 2700, which none of us are) , unless it's a mate sequence or b4, dont even try. In my opinion, it's almost impossible to find out any pause the video moment unless it's a mating sequence or b4 followed by heavy material damage. This channel is not a tutorial channel

Vasyl reminds me of the good chess times, the days of Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand...etc. I mean before the engine era, when all the masterpieces were created naturally out of the player's mind. Nowadays you feel like most of the games are asame, more robotic than humanic.

I won easily with Evans Gambit under 20 at junior ch. 'you can do whatever you want to win' but that was nonsense' he told. I played then yet for MTK. In Hungary. :) i do not think that this d2-d3 gives any advantage in any way, maybe for Magnus Carlsen 70 moves later there will be still equal and Magnus Carlsen will win but still d2-d3 is 21.rh century move? I think d2-d3 is nonsense.
