Game 3 showed that Hans thrives in complicated games. I don't remember who said it, but a great GM said that Hans thrives in complicated attacking games, and so he values initiative a lot more than material on the board, but when you grind the game down into defensive slugfests, Hans wavers. Though Anish is a great chess player, he played into Hans's strengths with this game. The g6 move allowed Hans the initiative he needed to run Anish off the board. I'm thinking that if Anish just sacrificed a pawn and defended a slightly worse endgame, he'd have ended with a draw.

I believe Fabiano Caruana said something to this effect. He mentioned that whenever he plays Hans, Hans can find unexpected moves to put pressure on Caruana in the middle game, but then fails to capitalize on the pressure at some critical point, and eventually collapses in the end game. Whatever the case, it sounds like Hands tends to struggle when there is less material.

Didn't magnus run into Hans on the beach and talk some chess just days before that. The story is Hans could not talk chess on the level he expected from his rating. The same thing happened in the tournament when Hans made no sense in de post game interview. Mentioning a bunch of lines that where clearly bad. Magnus went by his instincts and did what he thought was best. and why not it's the triad that made him the best chess player of all time. in the eyes of most.

More like a coincidence, he wasn't qualified to condidates, they kicked "seegey karjakin " And invited ding liren, plus nepo xon the candidates, But luckily for the second time Magnus Carlsen refused to defend his title, and gave it away for Free, And somehow ding has to play against nepo, Nepo was leading until he collapsed as always in the end... Ding liren is the weakest champ in history For the very first time, that the champ, is at the bottom of every tournament he compete in... No tournament won by ding to this day... 3:00 the reason why Hans captures with the bishop here is that when he recaptures with the knight it hits Anish’s light square bishop. The square bishop can’t move because f7 is weak for queen-rook battery, so Hans is getting Anish’s light square bishop. Basically Hans has exchanged his dark square bishop for Anish’s light square bishop which is positionally very smart, because Hans is attacking and opposite color bishops benefit the attacking player.

I was never convinced by Hans cheating v Magnus. I honestly thought Magnus was uncharacteristically sloppy in the end game, considering most would rate him as the best end game player of all time (obviously many consider him the best player full stop, but I think more of a conversation there). As a solid but not amazing player (I play around the 2200) who likes to play uneven and interesting games (English for white, Dutch for black, Grunfeld for either), I've toyed with the Catalan as it naturally is an option for some lines in the English, and it's been great to see it on this channel over the last few days. I'd love to see some historically interesting Catalan or Grunfeld games, if Agadmator or anybody else has some recommendations I'll happily take them. P.S - I realise the Dutch at my ELO is not sound, but it is still fun. Probably need to read that Giri Sicilian course!

The last time Hans got caught (and admitted to) cheating was five years ago. The last time my neighbor got caught stealing from my garage was five years ago. I still don’t invite the guy over for dinner. I still lock my garage. I wish the both of them the best and hope they both can become better people in the end. In the meantime if I see Hans in my garage at night he gets the garden hose spray down. Not the baseball bat, for sure, just the hose. Some people have less tolerance for admitted cheaters than others. I suppose Magnus had to take a minute before he accused Hans of a repeat offense. I suppose Northern European people have less experience with, or tolerance for, people who have broken into their garage in the past. We Americans see it all the time and so sadly have become accustomed to it to the point of making allowances for it Daily. That said , we don’t really know do we? Shooting the guy down with shame is poor form. I personally however find his public persona to be offensive. How differently would Hans find himself being treated if he were an enjoyable fellow with a well tempered ego? Who knows?

He cheated online as a minor. Get over it. And your adult neighbor metaphor has no correlation
@kevinmartincossiolozano8245
@kevinmartincossiolozano8245 29 күн бұрын
Let's say you cheat during your highschool to get a better grade on History. You admit to this during your university studies. Should you be expelled from your university? Even though one grade doesn't correlate to the full effort, surely it might show bad morals. Okay, let's say you are expelled. Should you be banned from ever entering university? I think that is excessive. Even more if you have dedicated your whole life into one subject, let's say medicine. Hans is getting this level of treatment from others, and for no good reasons. If he was truly on the wrong, why did they only ban him after Magnus accusations? If it were another player, I'm pretty sure he would still be invited to top tournaments, but he isn't. This is precious time because he is at an age where he can be a world champion contender. Magnus is just trying to slow him down and basically lower his chess peak. The difference between stealing and cheating online at the age of 12 or 16, is that cheating is not against the law, only against the website platform. Why should this affect him forever on fide or tournaments? Believe me, you don't want to be persecuted for every wrong doing you did as a child. Even minors are released from prison when they become adults because it is not right.
@FruitOfTheSpirit
@FruitOfTheSpirit 29 күн бұрын
His age (both as a minor at the time of the admitted offenses and now being a young adult) are mitigating factors. It’s a lot to expect a 21 y/o to “take it on the chin” graciously when from his PoV his entire career and livelihood have been thrown into jeopardy by the allegations.

Hans plays more interesting games than most. I don't see him as absolute top class.

Is Anish stylish or what? He could be doing a catalog for Men's Health.

Kf5 nice endgame from Hans Anish had good chances in that game tough loss but Great for Hans I hope Hans does well vs Magnus at least keeping it close I hope if anything Hans benefits from having competed vs other elite GMs he gets more opportunities or invites to other events as well

"It's the Injury of the Century..." lol Judging by the way it's bandaged it looks like a broken ring finger. If so that's a hard finger to break, other things get in the way first, but broken fingers can be painful,

I see that #15 is Le Quang Liem. That name is unknown to me. I do not remember him being featured here, and if so it was a lot less than all the other top 20 players. Could you introduce us to this player?
