LEGENDS OF THE OLD WEST presented by Black Barrel Media. The Donner Party faces another punishing trip across a desert before it finally reaches the Sierra Nevada Mountains on the border between Nevada and California. The party has lost a ton of time, but the travelers still believe they can make it over the mountains and into central California before winter. They make it as far as Truckee Lake - now Donner Lake - before they become trapped by blizzards.

These people couldnt get out of their own way..injuries..murders..mutiny..I lived in Tahoe Donner for awhile above Truckee..the place is still kind of remote cant imagine in it back then..the winters there are downright brutal but beautiful when the storms pass

I grew up on the Oregon trail like directly on it there were wagon ruts in my backyard it was considered part of the Barlow trail I would always find wagon wheels medicine bottles broken China and other weird things so as a child I was completely fascinated. I am one of the few people who grew up in the '80s who is completely obsessed with pioneers.
