As someone with a mutable grand cross I have experienced wounding on several occasions by 'astrologers' who lacked the very knowledge and inner understanding that Richard Tarnas speaks about. Listen and learn to this man of compassionate wisdom.

Wow! This was incredible, thanks so much for introducing me to this wise knowledgeable man. I have Saturn, Neptune and Uranus moving into my sun moon Venus (Aries) and ascendant (Gemini) this year. I’ve read Liz greenes books on Saturn and Neptune however I was struggling to find someone who’s covered Uranus as deep,y, I’ve now discovered Richard Tarnas who is able to help me shed light on these life changing planets and their movements and interactions (plus he wrote a whole book on Uranus and Prometheus). What a time to be alive! ❤🙏

Amanda- thanks for interviewing Richard Tarnas. Read his Cosmos and Psyche years and years ago- way before I was ready. have been planning to re-read it. From minute one of the interview, I felt Gemini, then Pisces, then Cancer. His online chart shows a Gemini rising, Pisces Sun with a first house of Cancer. I love when astrology proves itself over and over and when I 'feel' the astrological ATs/energies so accurately. It's a real gift I've passed on to my kids and taught my husband to 'get'. Wonderful tool. Thanks, again.

Every astrologer should listen to this podcast! What a beautiful synchronized sign for myself. As a budding astrologer, I take numerous classes. The styles are interesting and often one sided. Ill be 58 in 2025 , Ill be experiancing Saturn/Neptune conjunction with my personal natal saturn. I couldnt say with utter confidence that a newer less nuanced astrologer might understand and incorporate my heros journey having said that, respecting one another is the most important aspect of our individual journeys. Thank Richard...I purchased cosmos and the phyche before its release, Ive only began my deep dive as of three weeks ago, hence..pleasure finding this here today with much gratitude Dawn

I so enjoy these discussions with the astrologers of the 70s to now. Because I was there too. I never became a pro but went to some conferences and read and read and remember all the books and developments Richard Tarnas discusses. Doing charts by hand, including 'harmonic charts', watching computers gradually enhance the field, first with calculators that could add and subtract degrees, and with chart calculating services where you could order a computer generated chart so you didn't have to do it by hand, to the software and podcast learnings we have today. It sure has been interesting watching the developments in this amazing field. Long may we thrive.

Mr. Tarnas is a treasure. I was once critical of him because I heard an irksome generational point of view that I strongly disagree with, and now I feel kinda bad for pointing it out. Of course he’s right - community matters. How else can this work get done? What is it, really? An observation of the quirks of space-time?

I had an astrologer tell me I was abused by my mother. This was my moon conjunct my mars. I wasn’t abused by my mother but I definitely rebelled against her. And we sparred at times. My thought was, what if I had been abused by my mother and worse yet it wasn’t conscious to me or something I’d looked at that in my life. It could be so damaging. Better to ask about the relationship than assume. When you read for someone that is sacred work In a recent synastry class we looked at our parents’ charts with ours and I discovered that my mother’s Mars was opposite mine to the exact degree. I had to laugh because hers is in Virgo. It explained so much of our dynamic. She was a wonderful mom who definitely liked to tell people what and how they should do things. I miss her dearly.

I love this man! His wisdom is so needed in these times of uncertainty! I agree with his takes on diverting when we are projecting in readings either consciously or unconsciously. I know I can get disillusioned bc Neptune shares a sextile with my Pisces sun and mercury and they share a sesiquiquadate with my Aquarius Saturn 😂 but at the same time I can easily mend the physical and spiritual parts of myself to come up with my own sense of truth and also see that I can change my mind as I grow and change and discern what’s true for me and what’s jsut a projection haha. Meditation is a great way to relax my mind when distinguishing when I’m being bias to my own disillusions or what’s reality. I’m still learning of course and I enjoy being a forever student

26:00 Yes!! I experienced this with my sixth house Sun, an astrologer expressed (with respect to primary and secondary movement) that (in a sysiphean sense), "that Sun is in a constant struggle to try to get above the horizon, and will it ever get there? Will it ever be seen? No, no it won't." As a Leo rising, this was damaging in a way that I can't even describe. I can still feel it, and have tears in my eyes thinking about it. I have a pretty decent understanding of the quantum world, so screw him lol, but it still really hurt me. Brought out all my worst Capricornian fears. And to say something with such finality, in fact, I would say he actually spoke with relish and maybe even a little bit of hidden delight (this astrologer is, at least, intellectually compassionate most of the time, but can at times enjoy being the fire and brimstone preacher, I think, as they come from a religious background and their parent was a preacher). Anyways, it was horrid to hear and was actually said in a KZbin video. I shudder when I think of how many people with those same placements might hear his words. It was like swallowing poison.

Response to time 1:14: Nearly ALL professions, not just astrology, need human experience in time and input to perform well......something AI in the present and near future isn't capable of...........
Yeah AI is tacky in many ways like if it's going to assist with a prosthetic or something of value it's great on the other side it's super shallow and empty without the correct folks behind the helm. Maybe those coming into the fold will get this and actually do better than what is at present on the stage of global warfare. We are here to create ....... and grow out of the quagmire. Remember to hug a tree. Cheers Richard, you rock. ❤❤❤❤

I agree the teleological meaning to events is really important even in one's personal life since one of the principles of the psyche is that it is complimentary and well as compensatory. There are first principles in astrology that are unchanging, mind independent, objective and impersonal just like physics which I think that astrologers will pay more attention in the future. The refinement and perfection of the system of first principles is found in science and physics and the same thing applies to astrology. Greene 1996. Consequently, it is o.k. to corroborate recheck the validity of every technique and idea in astrology. I've never used U.S returns because I find counter intuitive that the United States chart can have transits to it that can predict what happens today since the US today is not the same as it was 200 years ago due to a rapid growth of the population. An unchanging building like the twin towers which are a number two which means separation can also be predicted by it's astrological transits including the world transits. It seems to me much more accurate to look at today's world transits to see what is happening like that Chiron conjunct Eris in Aries representing our wars today. Also the astrological ages we look at today are not based on Sidereal astrology, but tropical astrology which separated from Sidereal astrology 2,000 years ago. Consequently, the Sidereal system uses the constellations and always remains fixed in time so the Sidereal system can't be used for the ages, but only the tropical zodiac which is not affected by precession. Furthermore, the Sidereal system can't be used for personality because it is fixed 2,000 years ago and one's natal chart is 2,000 years out of date so that it is not just the Sun sign is behind one sign, but all of the signs of every planet change one sign behind the tropical zodiac in the Sidereal system which is completely inaccurate. Today, the Sidereal zodiac is twenty three degrees behind the Tropical Zodiac. In two thousand years the Sidereal system will be one full sign behind Tropical astrology, in four thousand years two signs, six thousand years it will be three full signs behind and between 22,000 and 24,000 years from now the Sidereal system will coincide with the tropical zodiac but only for a little while as the same process will happen all over gain due to precession with the sidereal system moving further behind the tropical system until another complete precession of the when they will be the same again in 48,000 years, 96,000 years, etc. ad infinitum. It is always good to do thought experiments to expand our knowledge and corroborate ideas in astrology.

It's less a matter of expertise on AI and more of an understanding of the role of humanity and technology in the cosmos. Machines will never be able to house the divine spark of intelligence that the human being was designed to embody - the multivalent consciousness that enables our divinatory practices like astrology. Technological inventions can be divinely inspired and used by people in sacred ways, but there are limits to what we can create with our ingenuity. If we try to play god and invent life, we will certainly fail.
