You mean Monstrous Emergence? A) It's just straight damage, not a fight, and B) it's only green! Sorcery speed is rough with how haste-heavy the aggro meta is, but maybe things will slow down a bit with DSK.

In current standard a big way I've been winning with smuggler's surprise ramp is to run Thunderous Debut, and between copies of The Irencrag and a few Scene of the Crimes, you have bargain fodder by the time you reach 8 mana. That will be even more true with Overlord of the Hauntwoods. Looking at 20 cards in my library to get a calamity + {anything} pretty much always threatens to win the game on the spot

With only Fabled Passage it’s not reliable enough, would have to run cards like Terramorphic Expanse which makes for a poor topdeck later.

No, because it enters tapped and attacking, skipping the attack step and thus the attack trigger.

Still lethal though. Smuggle into Calamity and Overlord..... 4 damage trigger. Saddle with Calamity and attack you get two more Overlords tapped and attacking with 2 triggers for 4 damage. So that is 12 damage from triggers and swinging for 14 with the creatures.

Singular they is the generally accepted way to talk about a person whose gender you don’t know, as it’s less wordy and more inclusive than saying “if he or she can find a stormsplitter than he or she might still combo off”.

Actually I’m realizing now that you maybe meant who is the “our” in “our opponent”? That’s just the accepted grammar of Let’s plays I guess. LVD in particular uses “we/our” to talk about his hand of cards and the board state, and “I will” to talk about his thoughts and intentions. I’m not sure why, but it all feels like the right way to say things on KZbin.

@ 37:12 -- I don't understand why there are only 3 triggers for TerrorOfThePeaks? Shouldn't it be 4 instead? The original triggers twice for the 2 copies entering, then the copies trigger once each -- a total of 4. Looks like a bug to me.

I agree -- it looks like it might internally putting the copies in "in order" instead of "all at once" like it should. That would result in three instead of four triggers.

actually I take it back -- the calamity trigger actually says to do it that way, first put one token, then put another token. So it should be three instead of four!
