Around 38:28, it would be pretty cool to mill ourselves for 30 cards with Jace before activating the elephant ultimate, knocking out the opponent with the elephant's passive drains. Although the position was so good that LvD could do whatever he wanted.

Saw that as well, would have been such a cool play. I was a little upset but like you said, he could have probably made legal plays at random and still won the game from that position so it didn't matter much. That being said, he was basically guaranteed to win on the spot if he goes for that, because while he's somewhat restricted by colored mana, he has multiple colorless cards he can play, 3 cards that are purely red, and quite a few that only have one non-red mana symbol (including the lightning helixes which really add up quick at 5 a pop).

I really hope they change course on their 1 Planeswalker per set policy. I really hate this. I have enjoyed the recent planeswalkers and I think the quality of them has been a bit higher than in the past as Ashiok, Quint, Kaya, and the new Oko all seem playable at the very least, but still. Planeswalkers are my favorite card type and I hate seeing them just sort of shrug and be like " we're bored with it. The design space is tired" as if there are any interesting unique instants and sorceries that have seen play in recent years.

Superfriends is always pretty fun to watch, and Jeskai seems like a pretty solid angle. I think Esper/Orzhov friends probably are still better, with Vraska and Ashiok able to do shenanigans with proliferation and life paying, but it's cool to see Quintorius.
@HelloTuno6 ай бұрын
@35:56 Interestingly you could have played Jace for it's Phyrexian cost, saving a blue mana which would let you cast Augury after, proliferating on everything including Assemble and letting you replay your planeswalker's ability. Even with the Recruiter your opponent would not have been able to damage your planeswalkers and the rest of the game would have been much easier ;)

@nobelphoenix6 ай бұрын
wow, TIL: A widespread thieving can play the card exiled with another widespread thieving. I would've never seen that one coming, it's kinda counterintuitive. EDIT: apparently that's not the case, the newer WT's ability was the one on the bottom so when it triggered opponent chose to activate it and that definitely can produce that result. I wasn't really clear on the order of the abilities on my first watch.
@AbelFerralla6 ай бұрын
I don't think that's what happened. The exiled card was played with the destroyed Thieving (the one that exiled the card). As the trigger was already in the stack, and the exiled card remained exiled no matter what happened to the Thieving, they were still able to cast the Bombardment with it. It's kinda confusing as Arena shows the exiled card under the Thieving (instead of the exile zone), so it's easy to asume that if you destroy the Thieving, the exiled card just goes to oblivion
@nobelphoenix6 ай бұрын
@@AbelFerrallaOh, okay I now rewatched that part carefully and apparently the first trigger was the old WT's trigger and the one below that was the one that's new. So after the old one created the treasure, opp used the triggered ability of the newer one even though the object is not on the battlefield anymore. It makes sense that way. For a second I mixed the order of triggers and it looked funny.
@cameronhall68256 ай бұрын
@@nobelphoenixthe extra cost you pay is a part of the same paragraph that creatures the treasure, so basically once that ability is resolving its too late to blow it up.

At 38:45 you could have -9 jace to mill for 27, then ulted quint replaying Jace coming in at 5 loyalty, cast the proliferate spell up to 6, them -6 for another 18 cards milled leaving your opponent at 1 card in library. Just lockdown and win the turn after next
@brianh58446 ай бұрын
Alternatively, he could mill himself for 27 then ult Quint. He nets 30 red mana and 27 more cards to work with. If he hits a big score it's trivial, but even with just celestus and his red spells, alongside the colored mana he does have to work with, it seems relatively trivial to dome the opponent for 15 with Quintorius triggers + helixes to the face.

Any consideration to switching out the Irencrag and staff of completion with Mightstone and Weakstone? And maybe a 1 of or 2 of Urza? (thematically urza's saga should hit urza but I don't think it does. Does it?) Would solve the temp lock down nombo while also discounting the artifacts like the stones and even a celestus later minor synergy with your removal making them cheaper, but honestly the idea of having a planeswalker you can activate 3 times a turn sounds (very magic Christmas land) fun!
