In the 3rd match around 21:00 you get comboed off. You actually did have an out there. I thought you were going to use Liquimetal Coating on the Nightmare in response to its ETB effect to stop it from being activated, but instead you blew up a land on your turn. Hey Legend, for these complicated combo decks, would you ever consider including a sort of "scrimmage" game vs Sparky to showcase the loop with real gameplay if your human opponents keep conceding before you get a chance to showcase it? Obviously the interaction wouldn't be engaging, but it would at least let us see what's going on? Maybe it could go at the end for people who really want to see it in action, and don't mind seeing a bit of goldfishing? Thanks for your videos as usual!

Great but one tip: as someone who has played h devotion for ages, Elvish Mystic is better than birds of paridise. You have so many teachers and do not underestimate chipping in for one sometimes in a control matchup

Making black mana for Cauldron has been relevant and I've also run into opponents with Priest of Titania which punishes us for playing extra elves. I can definitely see the damage from a 1/1 be relevant to finish off a Planeswalker, but when this deck wins it's usually by a landslide.

@LegenVD with Leylines in your deck you can tap your dorks first and then once you have enough mana hard cast the Leyline so an untapped forest can tap for black, this works in a situation where you might a Llanowar Elves in your build but no bird that can tap for mana. I did however not take into account priest of Titania which is a valid point.

Most definitely not, this deck originated in pioneer and about half of the player base in some tournys were playing it at some point. Karn got banned in pioneer due to the presence of this deck. Most pioneer players hate it strongly

What would you think of Ghost Vacuum in the sideboard? It costs 1 but is repeatable and you could also use it to exile your own artifacts so that Karn can get them again.

In the Game against Monoblack Energy Combo, I think it could've been a good strategy to keep the Liquimetal Coating available to disrupt their combo. Since the Nightmare is only Sorcery-speed, but has the ETB Trigger to give 3 Energy, it should be possible to turn it into an artifact in response, turning it off with Karn, right?

Green devotion is my favorite historic deck. but lately I have felt historic is getting a little too crazy, If you are not playing a deck that can at the very least explode on turn 3 then your deck is not gonna cut it in rank play. I kind of wish they would tone historic down some.

Indeed, could've tried to respond to the energy trigger to shut it down for the turn. If they have a second copy they could still possibly combo from that spot, so not sure what's optimal.

@@LegenVD Granted it’s easy to be results-oriented because we know how the game ended, but I still think I prefer the “coat-the-nightmare” line. Given the board state, even if he had 3 more lands in play at that point, it doesn’t seem like he’d be able to pull ahead without finding more gas. Love the content. Keep up the awesome work.

Sure would have been nice if an opponent would have let us actually see the deck kill. Seems you could have just set this all up as a value engine, left no pay off and they'd still all concede

Why not play multiple Tormod's Crypt in your sideboard. You would have been able to stop that combo.

Karn is banned in Pio, but the deck is all the same disgusting there. Going for lethal turn 3 or 4 by filling the board and giving it ramp with several Nykthos and Kiora. Absolutely disgusting. I saw one argue "Well actually, having to run 4 Nykthos is a risk because it can be a dead card"... yeah, but most of the time, it's just a green Dark Ritual on crack. I call it: Nykthos should be banned. 30 years and Wizards has still not learned that mana-cheating is a game-breaking mechanic. Ban that shit.

Karn was the problem and got banned, the deck dropped massively in play % and win rate. If Karn was banned in Historic the same thing would happen. If Nykthos was the problem you'd see devotion decks of every colour in the higher tiers of the meta.
