Richard also tried to deflect that blue artifacts do the card draw even though he could have ran a blue deck. Here is a list of mono blue artifact creatures that he could have ran as commander. Nardole, Resourceful Cyborg Nick Valentine, Private Eye Jetfire, Ingenious Scientist Memnarch The Reality Chip all would have been just as good as Karn and gave him those better blue artifacts.

I think Richard could have totally played an artifact creature type of deck that wouldn't be all that hindered by the deck building restrictions too much but maybe he thought that wouldn't fit the janky flavor of the vid. Creature is probably the least restricted of the card types, wasn't a fan of Seth running those relatively one sided cards (bane of progress and bringer of the last gift) when he knows he is playing decks that can't run creatures and non-artifacts.

In the case of the sorcery deck, you run Adventures or something if you need a creature; in the Artifact deck there's a lot of creatures that are also artifacts... And several Planeswalkers make creatures, including Grist which also counts as a creature while it's not on the battlefield...

I built the Androgynous Rex as soon as it came out. It's absolutely nuts, I've even been able to go 1v3 and win with it (I run a bunch of non-legendary clones). Also, fun fact, it literally can't get double strike from discarding a creature, because there are zero double strikers in sultai + colorless!

Thank you for playing my idea! I don’t know if you got the idea from me but that is almost exactly what I suggested and I thought it made for a great game. We got to see some unusual choices though Phil and Crim certainly were still in their wheelhouse. I think that is worth doing again but everyone has to pick a card type they haven't chosen. I could see Richard building a very different kind of sorcery deck or Seth building a very different planeswalker deck for example.

To be fair, Artifact creatures still fall under the "artifact" umbrela. Same as if someone decided to go full enchantment and used Enchantment creatures. What I am sad is that the same thought can't be used on adventure creatures, even though they have the spell on them, they are still consaidered primarily creatures. Although by that thought, Seth could have used adventure creatures in his deck if he wanted.

If we go even deep, Crim could have played the two-sided planeswalkers from magic origins or mh3, as well as Seth could have played enchantment creatures with bestow, but not vehicles. There was many ways to go around the specific rule to each one decks. I mean, Phil also could have played Awaken the Blood Avatar, which is the two-face strixhaven card that the front's a creature, alongside a lot of the sorcery that makes tokens and just cast that multiple times to have a really wide board of avatars that couldn't be killed easily because none of the other players running sorcery/instant removal apart from Phil.

Yeah no, I fully agree, as long as the card in your deck is a instant/sorcery/planeswalker its fine, otherwise you should say that the planeswalker player can't make creature tokens. Everything shared a creature type so its fine.

I have an Indominus Rex//Umori companion deck, and it’s one of my favorite decks. It wants to win with either Jarad Golgari Lichlord flinging a Lord of Extinction or Consuming Aberration, or with Lab Man off shenanigans using Mimeo to copy the commander in the graveyard but buffed by something massive that makes me draw out my whole deck (since Indominus only cares about the number of counters he has as he enters, not whether they’re keyword counters specifically. A Mimeo as Indominus buffed by Lord of Extinction draws out your whole deck on ETB most times, lol). Or y’know, just Voltron if no one can deal with the Keyword soup Dino, lol.

I'm a little surprised you guys chose sorceries as the fourth instead of enchantments, considering it would be all of the major nonland permanent types outside of battles. And enchantments in the last few years have became significantly stronger with cards like ATG, the enchantment creatures, and a whole bunch of hate bears cards like Blind Obedience and Tithe.

I just built a Karn deck myself, and it is a tricky one to build for card draw - mind's eye is actually one of the better options. I did find a good amount of land ramp you didn't include (noteably Bitterthorn, Nissa's Animus; Wayfarer's Bauble; Urza's Cave (fetching a sol-land, and possible crucible addtion); and Expedition Map, though surveyor's scope is a good call. I think you noticed the issue with Myriad Landscape as well in game not being able to find wastes. Urza's Saga would also have been a solid include, as well as Planar Nexus, for maximum Urza's Workshop potential. Skittering Surveyor can also pull out Urza's Cave and Planar Nexus as some neat tech. It's also too bad you were restricted to artifacts - would have been an amazing deck to show off my new favorite card: Echoes of Eternity. It's basically Necroduality on steroids, but for colorless. Solid showing for team MUD in any case!

Richard's deck sure seemed pretty Creature heavy for 'only Artifacts'. Artifact Creatures kinda make the restriction feel less real also Myriad is a 'may' ability so you're literally opting into making tokens in order to attack Crim in that situation.

Kellan is actually pretty broken in the fact he has that adventure and if you cast his adventure it reduces commander tax overall. For example if Kellan dies his creature cast cost will be six but if you adventure him it’ll be only four, and so on. You may have to wait an extra turn to play him again but it gives you the ramp that simic wants as a bonus. Also provides protection and he’s a flying vigilant creature so all around in my opinion a solid simic commander from murders at Karlov that I haven’t seen a lot of play.

Seeing Visions may not be the priciest drop, but the art is what Secret Lairs should be doing, you get 4 different versions and they're all amazing (and people hated this idea btw, hence they stopped doing it I guess), and the flavor is pretty sweet too. It also is a call back arguably to the FNM Serum Visions, which is... suggestive, to be polite. In it's own way that card is every bit as bad as Ekundu Cyclops, it's just a bit more niche (though with the internet is there such a thing as a niche perversion?). I had an old Morrocan coin that I used for coin flips in Yugioh (I used a surprisingly large number of cards that required flips). It had two sides naturally, one had a camel (which was 'camel'), the other had some Arabic on it (which was 'Arabic'). It was a rural environs, so as long as I let the opponents choose, they always chose camel, and the coin was flawed enough that it was VERY often Arabic. It was good times! I really thought this game was going to be a turd of a gimmick game, but lo, you guys put on a hell of a show!
