Solid video - was a good game to watch! Side note - you just get 1 impact added to your pool when you shoot the rear of an AT-ST. Also, double AT-ST's are awesome with Concussion launchers. It allows them to move up and deny the enemy cover, and keep your regular troopers from taking a bunch of wounds. They will be even better once Veers comes out.

to measure cover you measure from attacking unit leader base to each defending unit mini base. If the line intersects any objects, it gets the cover of the majority of the unit. When you're attacking with your AT-ST, the first unit you attacked would have cover 2 because the line goes across the ground, not from the LOS point. LOS is only for obstructions

At 9:43 you determined cover by looking from the top of the AT-ST. I'm 99% sure that you should be using a line from base to base instead (RR pg 22). So, all the shots you take over buildings should be heavy cover unless you are in base contact with the building.

I could talk at length about that. Basically, the rules do technically point out that a unit WAY above another unit, somehow has to shoot through a barricade that isn't even remotely in the way of the shot, simply because a line exists on the ground. I don't want to speak for FFG but I have reason to believe this rule won't last very long as it makes no sense and effectively removes altitude from the game and if it stands will make this game into a 2-D game that might as well use cardboard. (Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit). Basically, we played with true line of sight. If I can see 100% of your mini - there's no reason you should have cover.

Crabbok I understand the concern but it only affects very tall units as infantry on top of buildings will have their base up high and will be able to shoot over things. I also noticed you split the terrain into separate pieces which is something the game rules really should address, especially for large wooded areas. Also, do you think they didn't include the Rules Reference because they intended to update it online rather than use FAQs to change the rules? For example, how Armada should have changed the RR to use the superior tournament deployment system.

Absolutely. The RRG is a living document and keeping it online allows access and updates far more easily. And the rules do encourage players to decide terrain effects before the game starts. This sort of allows players to divide larger terrain pieces for objectives like this. We talked about all of this beforehand, as well as how we were going to handle line of sight and cover.

xtoddh All AT-STs have Arsenal 2 which lets them attack with two weapons. The leader adds 2 to that so they can attack with four weapons.

I have a question about the AT-ST. Depending on how it's legs are positioned, it might be of different heights, and therefore have different LoS results. Are you permitted to "straighten him up" during a game, or is it not allowed? Doesn't it mean that assembling your miniature in a crouched position makes it objectively worse than a miniature that is standing as tall as possible, and affect gameplay?

Alex had stated that in most situations, you use True Line of Sight. Whenever you fire with AT-ST's, check line of sight and give cover if they are 50% obscured, behind a barricade, or in area terrain.

Id rather have more troop units right now instead of the extra AT-ST. I think a double Speeder list is more viable though. Zoom table edges and one should survive to come up behind any walkers
