Legion Slim 5 8845HS vs 7735HS CPU: Marginal Battery Improvement of ~30 Minutes

30 Minutes Longer Battery Life on the Ryzen 8845HS vs the 7735HS in the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 which periodically goes on sale on slickdeals.net.
Testing was done by having them install and update Windows, finish the first login, and run a webGL aquarium test for about half an hour after finishing logging in.
After that, KZbin running in edge with HW info monitored the runtime.
May test again refreshing a webpage every several seconds, but so far it looks like not a very large difference, and the tab key is coming off on the 8845 one so it will likely have to be sent back.
Hopefully an AI 375 laptop is available soon with a matte screen and 32GB of RAM and a good keyboard.
Screen brightness and all other specs are the same, and this laptop with the 8845 CPU is nearly identical to the CPU on the Framework 16 which has a 7840 CPU. The 8000 series just has a small NPU attached to it.

Hi, may i know if your npu on the model with ryzen 7 8845HS is shown in the task manage? Because for intel chips the npu shows in the task manager

@@turtle7701 It does not from what I can see. I know they are a bit behind though with the software as the AI 300 series chips don't support copilot yet but will with a later Windows update. Maybe then it will be supported better and show in the task manager.

Hey help me with it. Should i be going with the Legion 5i 14650hx rtx 4070 or the Legion slim 5 amd ryzen 7 8845Hs rtx 4070? The amd version costs 60 usd more here in India. I’m just afraid to buy the intel version due to its recent processor issues.

@@DrDhyan-wr6fi Go with the AMD, they are more efficient. Until Intel releases a follow-up to the Core Ultra, AMD doing much better for regular CPU series and the HX AI 3xx series is even better.

Hi, there is a store in my country that are selling two lenovos legion slim 5 (2024) one has rzyen 7 7735hs, 16gb, 4070 laptop, 1600p 165hz, and the other has the ryzen 8845hs, 16gb, 4060 laptop, 1600p 165hz, I am interested for very heavy multi window heavy work, listening to music, videos, demanding video games, which one do you recommend, which one is much better, is there much difference, do you think the one with the 4070 laptop I should buy?

@@danilojavierpinedavalera Which one do you think is better if they have the same graphics card and one has a newer, faster processor? There's a website called CPU Benchmark you can check CPU speeds on, and video card Benchmark will show you GPU speeds.

Do you think the 4060 laptop and the 4070 laptop are the same? It is the only difference they have together that one has a ryzen 7 7735hs and the other ryzen 7 8845hs.

Hello! Thank you so much for this video. I just had a few questions. What graphics card is in the 8845HS? And did you run the test with the dedicated graphics card active or inactive? If you find the time, could you please check the discharge rate (youtube vid/excel/similar) on the 8845HS with dgpu inactive, 60Hz, 50% brightness, balanced power mode, and keyboard RGB turned off? I am debating whether or not I should get a slim for schoolwork/gaming but I can't find many reviews on the new 9th gen one online.

@@zor05 I can't get it below 15w discharging. I was on half brightness and 60hz, keyboard RGB on. Didn't use the 4070 dedicated GPU. I already packed them up to send back. I did work with just Excel and chrome open near max brightness which is what I do for work... Only got about four hours out of the 8845.

@@zor05 No, should be able to get 6 for light tasks. Not sure if the 8845 needs an update in Windows or what. The nearly identical 7840HS in the Framework seems to get about 6 hours for light stuff. Not sure what the issue is here. And users report the Asus TUF A16 getting eight hours of light usage. I really need something that can go for at least 8 so I can get a workday out of it.

​@@stevenswall The reviewers I've seen online have been getting 6-9 hours doing light tasks on this Laptop (2 reviews only, laptopmedia and Tech Guy Beau on youtube) This is according to Windows estimated time though (not sure if this is the case for LaptopMedia though).

Hello, Not sure which one to buy, Either a Legion i5 7840hs with a 4060 or Hp Victus 8845hs with a 4070. Both are the same price right now, but I heard HP victus are on the cheap side of quality build and do not last??? Also, the Performance between both cpu and gpus are only like 10% give or take. The legion i5 comes with an extra slot for expanded storage while the HP does not. PLEASE help ! @stevenswall

@@vizknight1862 If you aren't keeping the laptop more than 3 or 4 years get the HP for the better CPU. If you need it to last longer, I wouldn't get the HP. You're right about the CPU, only a small difference there, and if you play games the bigger difference is going to be the graphics card.
