Interesting facts about the 1955 Lincoln Futura Batmobile
1.) Before the Batman blockbuster movies of the 1980s and beyond, the Batman live-action TV series (1966-1968) ZOOMED! into Super-hero history with a fresh take on the DC stories that continue to attract new fans. Iconic for its use of onomatopoeia (or ‘fighting balloons’), cheerful costumes and playful puns, its storylines paired with irreverent, comical timing and clever cliffhangers. As a Super Hero without superpowers , in the series, Batman famously relies on his wit and technology to catch a gallery of notorious GOTHAM CITY hoodlums. Of all his inventions, the Batmobile is the unsurpassed symbol of his crime-fighting calling.
Also Commissioner Gordon and Chief O’ Hara call them the “Dynamic Duo”.
2.) The first iteration used in the series, a modified 1955 Lincoln Futura, ushered the on-screen Batmobile into a new era with its hidden gadgets and functions to fool and fend off foes. It became a big part of the appeal of Batman, with details like Batsmoke, a Mobile Crime Computer that connects to a main Crime Computer in the Batcave, a Detect-A-Scope, Batphotoscope, a Batphone and even a fake Start button which, if pushed by a criminal, would shoot off fireworks! The Batmobile even has BAT GAS and a BAT RAY located in the front of the vehicle as well as a BAT CHUTE and a NAIL SPREADER located in the back of the vehicle.

The original look for the turbine-engine, jet-drive exhaust tube was achieved by repurposing a 5-gallon paint can!
