I Like To Imagine That The Dwarfs Have A Symbiotic Relationship With The Crown Knights. They Supply Them With Arms, Armor And Siege. In Return, The Crowns Protect Them From Outside Forces. This Would Also Gives A Reason Why The Two Factions Have The Same Color Scheme And Shield Patterns. While It's Not Said In The Set, I Think The Blacksmith In 10176 Is A Dwarf, Given His Short Legs And Profession. There's Also Some Rock Terrain and A Cart In The Advent Calendar.

I got the Dwarves' Mine set the first day I saw it on the shelf at Target. I think it was originally a Target exclusive. My box said "Special Edition", but I don't think it was any different than the ones that eventually showed up at TRU or elsewhere. That was such a great set! Lots of cool play / display features, all the dwarves, those cool new orc "trolls", and even that giant ogre "troll". I remember thinking it was really inexpensive at the time. I just went back and checked to be sure, and it looks like it was only $59.99! [EDIT: just checked further, and tho Brickset SAYS $59.99, other posters are reporting it was $49.99 at Target, which is what I remember... WHAT A BARGAIN!] It had so many great parts! Those big tower shields, the clip-on axe heads (which I think were introduced with Vikings a couple years earlier, but I'd only just gotten in the King's Castle Siege a couple months earlier), even the turkey leg for that ogre to chomp on (which had been around at least 10 years in Belville/Scala but I'd never gotten one). I still make those brick-built hammers in all kind of colors! They're one of my favorite minifig weapons. I even got all the parts in trans-clear to make one "magical crystalline", lol 🤓 Great vid, as always. Thanks!

I honestly wish I had picked it up when it was originally out I totally would have bought it two and combined them into one giant mine. I saw some great rebrickables for it. Because you are right the part selection on it is amazing!

@@BrickingUpBrad Just went back and watched your Fantasy Troll faction video from last year again. Doesn't seem like it's been that long since the CMF Orc came out! I'd be interested in seeing you do a review of every Lego Orc ever, like the Uruk-hai, the Gundabad, Moria and Mordor LotR orcs, and the new Orc rogue from the D&D set. Your call if you wanna include other Goblinoids like the LotR Goblin soldiers or the Goblin CFM in that group. Then, if so, do you also include any of the Green Goblin figs?? Most of those use the same hat! 🤓 Of course, the tattered orange cape on the Hobgoblin is the same pattern as the old "Troll" / orc tattered brown capes. Makes a great addition to the mix!

2007 was the best Lego year for me as I was buying all the basic castle sets like crazy. Then at the end of the year I somehow got into my knowledge that a new faction (dwarfs) was coming. And it was getting even better until it got much worse on the next year as I found out that the mine was not sold in my country. And buying online wasn't easy. Let's just say that iPhone was just invented and KZbin was slowly gaining momentum as it was recently been bought by Google. Not going to all the details but I was able to buy the mine! Never regret.

"I am the slayer King!" - Ungrim Ironfist from warhammer, that mohawk dwarf really is a lego slayer dwarf. Have you seen them? If you can get the sets there is this Enlighten series of chinese lego that have more dwarfs in it. They are heavily inspired from Warcraft and are very beautiful addition to dwarfs overall.

I wish that Mine set they created had some logic in it. Like mine the gold underground -> lift it up with the lift -> move them along the tube -> throw them to the cart. The set would need just a little modification to make it right. Now it's not very logical (2 ways to pour the gold into the carts, both end of the tube line is an end, with no starting point.)

I do agree BUT they wanted the diffrent ideas in a compact way which actually looks really good

@@BrickingUpBrad Hey, thank you for answering! I think they just saved money, as they usually do. You just have to extend the tube until it reaches the elevator, and everything is good. So I think it was working as a first draft, but then some manager came along and removed pieces to save money.
