I’m slightly disappointed that it doesn’t have 4 wheel drive, but other than that, I like it. It looks like it’ll be pretty easy to add motors, which I always like to do.

As an American, my dad and I are actually thinking about getting it because we like Ford and the $100 price tag. If it wasn’t so cheap for a lego technic set we wouldn’t even consider it

As an European, I like Ford, I drive a Ford Focus, but to be treated like this leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I will not buy the set at this inflated price, no matter F-150 has always been my favorite pickup truck.

Honestly these kind of sets don't deserve the "technic badge", lets be honest the focus of technic always was to deliver mechanical functions but in recent times we're just presented with display models at rediculous prices. If such sets were marketed under racers or a different car focused ip I would be fine with it, but calling this technic is just an insult.

Definitely buying this one as the build level doesn't look too complicated, and the overall truck doesn't feel either undersized or oversized. The bouncy suspension IMO is easily the truck's best feature here. Can't wait to see this one RC modded.

I was honestly not all that interested in this set, but perhaps I was wrong. I was thinking this would be a self piece, but the highlighted features shows this has the potential to be a good mod platform. I'll keep an eye on it, and may "pickup" it later. If you are going to RC the truck, then I challenge you to only use parts from 42124.

Like you said, the strange thing is how much cheaper it is in the US. My guess is since it's a much more popular car there, they're trying to lure US car fans who might not be into lego technic with the cheaper price point.

I bought and build this model, and i am fine with it, not too big and not too small for it's prize. I hope someday i am able to modify it to add motors and convert it into an RC vehicle.

The lack of AWD, dummy steering wheel, and stickers for most details is disappointing to me. But I spent a long time building a MOC of the new Bronco at the same scale, so this is a day one pickup for me! In the US the price is very reasonable, but I feel for ya Europeans

Considering that without the stickers the truck is basically a slightly rounded rectangle, I can't force myself to like it. Not to mention the crazy price tag and the obnoxious all-orange color scheme. The dark blue prototype was better looking as others have noted already. The one thing I like is the ball-jointed flip at the back. Lego is limiting themselves creatively by pushing licenses in hopes of higher sales due to cross-brand recognition. Unfortunately they seem to be doing well in that regard, meaning we'll get more and more subpar licensed sets.

It's a perfectly fine model and it'll have its fans. The price though. I've said it before and it bears repeating; fantastic price in the US, given that Technic used to cost quite a lot over there, relatively to other countries. But the prices outside the US is unreasonably high; I don't remember seeing such a high price difference between the US and other countries before. The fact that this is only £10 and 10 Euros less than the Heavy Duty Tow Truck really badly hurts it. That Tow Truck has a lot more pieces and so is significantly bigger, more complex, more functionally impressive and more functional in general. Yes the Raptor will get discounts but the same can be said of a lot of Technic sets, especially more expensive ones like the Land Rover Defender which is currently around 10% cheaper than the Raptor.

As much as you abhor the 18+ box styling, I think it's staying anyways just because marketing decided it's better. They probably thought that the simplistic design would appeal more to adult buyers because it looks more "refined" and less playful, despite obviously being a toy at the end of the day.

you are right to point out that the box is dull but lego has always been about the whole range of products. So making the box dull is a stylish choice because it makes the other sets more special in that sense thus improving the product line overall. Its just another line of expression or variable they can adjust to make the sets more special/unique. The box is dull but cool when you look at it as part of the whole product range while sporting the lego technic brand

It does look kinda boxy, but for $100 (or 140EU, sorry) it really captures the 'feel' and 'stance' of the Ford body quite well. Something I feel is lacking for nearly every large, licensed LEGO road vehicle. (Exceptions: the Mini, the Sian, the Mustang... maybe the Fiat). I'm sure the lovely suspension helps with that. Honestly I'm surprised you didn't give it more stars, but I don't have the set, sooooo...

It is cheaper in the us because it will sell like butter. Plus they probably focus grouped the price point to make it as apealing monetarily to as many as possible. Probably will sell as many if not more just in the us compared to the rest of the world.

I have to agree with Racing Brick's review. This set is an all out dissapointment, and it's a yet another one in a long streak of "looks only" Technic sets at high prices. It doesn't look good considering the front, B & C pillars, the features are lack luster (suspension doesn't do it for me when the set isn't RC) and the price tag is wack.

The most dissapointing thing about it (and a lot of other lego technic car sets nowadays) is the styling is done by sticker... It feels like theyre just to lazy to design it. Thats why to this day i think the arocs And the claas are hands down the 2 best looking technic sets. (If i were a supercar fan id probably say the bugatti or porsche or somethinf idk)

I have the 42029 and I think that raptor is just a downgrade from it. In 42029 You had a winch and a tipping function. You could also motorize it. The raptor may look better but in terms of playability I think that the 42029 is a superior

I was hyped for this set until the European MSRP was revealed. I mean uadafac, 140 eur and it doesn't even have 4WD or any functions for that matter. Opening hood and doors are not functions ffs. At this price at least they could have made it 4WD with lever switched/locked diffs

Usual suspension, usual engine (not even v8), usual functions. I fell like Lego Technic is focusing too much on cars. Nothing against the 1/8 scale, but the 1/10 feels a bit off, focusing on looks rather than functionality. I would leave the cars to the Creator line, and focus on heavy machinery as Technic usually did, but perhaps I am too attached to the past

The design of the cabin looks unfinished and simple. The front grill - panel covered with sticker ... In my opinion that set lacks detail. The only thing worth in it is the mudgards and tires.

It's such a shame Lego is being so lazy with B-models these days. Back in the 80's they would have a bunch of ideas on the back of the box, and with technic sets every one had a B-model with instructions. Now, if a set has more than 1000 pieces, they just don't even try :(
