Pirates beware: An impressive Lego imperial fort on top of rocky cliffs has been added to Port Tentuous, a sprawling Caribbean port diorama. Built as a film set for the Lego stop-motion series Being Pirates, the diorama combines terrain building with Lego architecture. This part will mainly explore how I built the rocky cliffs that serve as the foundation of the fort, and can be used as a tutorial for your own builds.

This looks way better than brick built terrain. The sets really stand out like this and it's how Lego used to display their sets in their 80s and 90s catalogs.

Dude, I simply can't 😅 This is love at its purity ❤️ It's truly an award material stuff, something to be showcased at exhibitions, idk, this gem of a craft should be preserved at all costs, ain't kiddin' here 😁 To this day I cannot believe what "Pirates of Barracuda Bay" did to us, LEGO Pirates fans, how it inspired some of us to finally come out of our "dark ages" and some - to create an outstanding pieces of art, poetry in bricks & forms, that should live on forever, IMHO 👌🏻 This right here is a legendary thing, man, and I have no doubt that second season of "Being Pirates" will be one of the greatest LEGO Pirates adventures to behold 😎

Great ideas, and loved that you shared all the steps. Could you share more on how you designed the size of the different parts and heights of the mountain?

Thanks! Designing the size and heights of the mountain was a step that actually took me quite a while. The overall height of the mountain with the fort I determined in relation to the rest of the port town, I wanted the fort on the right to be the highest part of the town. I used stand ins for the walls and towers of the fort as well as cardboard boxes to create the shape of the mountain so that I could see how the high it would be together. For the different levels in height I arranged them in such a way that the fort built on top of it would become interesting to look at, with the various buildings and walls further back elevated higher so that they would be visible. I hope this helps?

@vanestream thank you,it does help. Though part of what I was wondering if you had built the fortress first and dimensioned the positioning or if you fully created it according to the mountain dimensions.

@@silverwhiteknight A bit of both at the same time. I had the main tower and gatehouse of the fortress built already, and had an idea of how I wanted to build the rest, and then designed the mountain so it would work with the ideas in my head. Once the mountain was complete, I built the rest of the fortress and adapted it to the completed mountain.

Oh, that's a part I didn't show in the video. There are better tools out there but I party used a big kitchen knife and for the finer details a retractable craft knife.

Wow, I'm glad to see there are still people waiting for season 2 :-D For quite a few months I just didnt find the time to work on it, recently I've been able to fit in a few sessions, but it turns out the project is much larger than I initially anticipated so don't expect it to arrive for about another year. I hopw you can wait till then :-D
