This is Part 6 in another series of building a MOC from start to finish, I will be attempting to build a LEGO cathedral on a 48 x 32 stud base plate. However, after building, the cathedral will be expanded to a footprint of 64 x 32 studs.
This MOC will be made from one set of the Hogwarts Clock Tower (75948) and two sets of Hogwarts Great Hall (75954).

Hi JC. I've been following this build with a little awe. Truly, I think it is both truly creative and incredibly detailed. I don't know if I could ever afford two halls in USD, but it's great to watch. Rock on!

The cathedral has turned out really nice. The mausoleum adds alot to the cathedral it's a shame the structure is so awkward to work with but it looks really good. 😄

Yeah, that's the pain of LEGO building sometimes! It can look really good but be really hard to change/work with! :-D

You also appreciate the build alot more when you know how difficult it was to build, which is an overall great reason to build mocs that are challenging.

@@jommybuilds1616 indeed! And, as you get better, the challenging work get even more challenging I think because you begin wanting more details, techniques etc. It's great and very rewarding - I agree! :-)

The challenge of this build is all the panel pieces used and my own personal condition to not use extra pieces if possible.

This is going so fast I can't keep up :-D You are a video MACHINE JC :-D It's looking great though! I've got a crazy idea! Try switching the mausoleum with the cone roof for the top of the clock tower and use the top of the tower as a mausoleum instead. Maybe you've already done this and then I'm sorry! Thanks for sharing this JC - it's interesting to follow your process! :-)

Thanks Jakob! This is a challenging MOC indeed. I think moving the mausoleum come top to the clock tower is near impossiblel without a complete rebuild as the footprint size is quite different. I have progressed with another solution that you might like in subsequent videos. Thanks for following along!

This is going to displace a lot of existing buildings when it enters your city, especially with a graveyard. Love these sets though. Keep going!

Cool! What about using mono coloured mini figures on the corners and over the entrance! Maybe in grey or tan. They could act as sculptures. Possibly saints or the persons in the tombs! On the whole I think it looks great. But the transition between the squared off corner pieces and the rounded pieces at the front bugs me a bit. 👍🏻
@SmallBrickCity
@SmallBrickCity 5 жыл бұрын
There are the micro grey nano figures already but maybe will move them to the front. At the moment, I have yet to work extensively on the front facade. Thanks. The rounded panels actually work for me as i have seen many castle type buildings with this design.
@Lessmedborgare

@@SmallBrickCity I think I was not really precise pointing at the curved wall sections. What I meant was the slight gap that are between the lower squared piece and the rounded piece sitting over it. Very minor, I know!

Love the way this is shaping out. If you are planning on making some open space to the from you could protrude the space over the entrance to fit the full cone piece. You could put some sort of grey mono scale figure beneath it to represent a statue of sort. The cones in the back looked better than the cylinders. How about fiting the small cones over those cream cylinder pieces?
@SmallBrickCity
@SmallBrickCity 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I will not extend the front as the whole front facade is already quite elaborate. I am reworking the back as well to reduce the size of the cones or decorations needed. Thanks!

Thanks. The main reason I do not want a dollhouse build is that you will need space to swing out the panel. And when it is set in the city, it means all the staging of minifigures and other scenes will be affected each time the interior is accessed. With this design, I can open it up to showcase the interior without moving the building in the city.
