@@MinifigJezyour work taught me how to tidy up the colours on the downtown, apartment buildings and the EV HQ sets but I have a feeling trying to modify the former two would be such a nightmare it’ll make the latter look easy.

@@mattbartels I never bought the downtown or the apartment buildings, but I DID buy the EV HQ on an impulse when I was on holiday (see video about it here: kzbin.infoTY4_3hyHM2A) But I've never built it. Perhaps I should look it out and see what needs modifying on the set !

5:31 is that the ambulance from the Hospital set or the EV HQ set?
@MinifigJezАй бұрын
If you ever need to know what set a vehicle comes from, you just need to look at it's number plate. This ambulance has the number plate JM60330 so that means it's from set 60330 Hospital. You can see it if you pause the video at 5:32 I hope that helps.

Your builds are wonderful. I am just starting my city and want to incorporate your techniques but I must admit I am clueless on how to properly do a mirror build. Guidance? Cheers
@MinifigJez4 ай бұрын
I'll try my best to help! When you start its a bt confusing, but after a while it gets easier, I promise! Basically, follow the instructions step by step, but place items in the opposite positions. For example, if you are making this car wash (instructions link here: www.lego.com/cdn/product-assets/product.bi.core.pdf/6466282.pdf) all of book one doesn't need to be mirrored, as the car etc are symmetrical. BUT for book two, when you get to step 13, they tell you to add a 1x2 brick with clip on the left hand side, and a 1x2 brick with a green and red light, on the right hand side. You just do the opposite to teh instructions, so the clip goes on the right and the lights go on the left. effectively, it would look the same as the original, if you were looking at it in a mirror. Does that make sense? If it tells you to put a part in the back left corner of a plate, you put it in the back right corner. Then if a piece needs to be put to the right of the first piece, you put it to the left. Give it a go and see how you get on.
@MarcMeredithLA4 ай бұрын
@@MinifigJez thank you, that does make sense in concept, now to see if the transmissions from my brain to my hands get through correctly!

Only one thing I would suggest is moving the brushes from the end to the middle.
@MinifigJez8 ай бұрын
Yes, that would definitely make it more realistic. This time I was going for ease of modification! So leaving them where they were on the original model saved time and parts!!!!! Great suggestion though, so thanks for commenting.
@windhoven-nl8 ай бұрын
@@MinifigJez You are right. It is indeed not as simple as I thought. My first thought was just placing the brushes in before the window instead of after and then you need some additional parts.

Great mod! I also doubled up this set but didnt upgrade it as much as you did. Also I think that the big tyres do belong on the car because its an off road suv type car and they usually have big tyres.
@MinifigJez8 ай бұрын
it’s great to hear how other people modify things differently. I think the car has been made too small then, it needs to be taller to be an SUV, it’s the same size as regular Lego City family cars. That was the reason that I think the wheels need to be smaller. Thanks for commenting.

I can see why they kept it as a smaller set, as there aren;t many things in teh City range for that price which AREN'T a vehicle of some kind, so it helps with people city building, on a budget.
