yes, a very similar colour scheme. I have that set (in storage) looking at pictures of it again, I think I prefer the more sleek shape on the newer one (and I never really liked the giant roof pieces on set 7938.

As someone coming originally from Petersfield those Network Southeast liveries are great. And the London underground carriages are really good. The window stickers didn't bother me in green after the colour swap. If anything they stood out better.

I originally came from Guildford, and went to college every day on NSE trains (usually a Wessex Electric) I’d like to also try to build a NSE class 47, with a few standard MK2 coaches. When I have some time, I might try re-making those stickers in white vinyl, I just thought the green looked a bit out of place once all the bricks had been swapped !

Thanks, I'm glad you like the look of it. I only did the change because I REALLY don't like LEGO's lime green colour, but if you're a fan of it, then you must be pleased that there's finally a train in that colour! - Whatever the colour, it DEFINITELY needs another engine to go on the other end!

@@MinifigJez Yep, I'm REALLY glad there's finally a train in lime green. I bought two, and converted one engine into a non-motorized trailing cab with luggage compartment and crew break room, one car into a double-decker observation lounge, one car into an economy-class seating car, and left the other two mostly untouched for disability access and bicycle access. The accessible cars still have the large, low doors in the middle for easy access via a track-side ramp, but the rest of the train has been converted to smaller doors on either end that better match traditional station platforms.

@@kentslocum that sounds awesome. And yes… I like the train, but the new low doors are a bit of an issue with every station and station platform that I have ever bought from Lego!!!! (And that goes all the way back to set 7740 from 1980!!!!!

Glad you Liked it. I don't go for very long trains, so I'm just going to settle for another cab to go on the other end rather than a whole 2nd set. (probably easiest to just buy the parts considering I don't want any of the green bits!!!!) If you do a red conversion, make sure you post a video and let me know! The train went from green to red. I turned green with envy. And of course there's a significant speed increase in the red livery. Looks a million times better in red. I hope Lego didn't choose that awful train colour because it looks 'environmentally friendly'.

Oh yes! - I;ve got that train and I'd forgotten that it had the white stripe at the bottom of it - it's less sloped at the front, but otherwise very similar when viewing a small image. Thanks for commenting

I'm late to the party but this was really nice! I have the same set and I will have to take note of this, only minor change I would do is to also replace the LBG plates for the roof with black or red. This also reminds me that I need to build the 7745 that I had for a while.

Yes, it surprised me how much it looked like 7745 when I'd built it. It made me happy, coz I love that set, but I only have 7740 and 7760 pulling 7816!

Yep! much better indeed :)! this said, I find lego kind of restrictive with its costumers… because not all pieces exist in every manufactured colour. They make weird decisions, I remember wanting a specific roof piece (reversed roof corner) in dark azure… but it just doesn't exist :/ while standard azure roof pieces do… Which means you can't use certain pieces as you would like to... I in fact found you pretty lucky. The best way to be sure to have a maximum different kind of pieces is by sticking to "classic" colours…

The Red looks good. However I personally prefer the Green because the Green used is so close the the Green used by GO transit! My son associates it with the GO trains that run between Niagara Falls and Toronto.

If you have the Green train set, the red pieces on Bricklink only cost me about £9 (UK pounds) probably less if you bought used parts - so compared to the cost of the original train, not that much to modify. - I'm glad you liked the look of it.

i hope that Lego will make different colors for the slope pieces on the side of the locomotive because the only upgrade i did to mine when i bought it back in February was to not include the electric arm into the build but instead put 4 of the 1x4 solar panels on the roof of the train

I get a bit of a cyberpunk vibe from it now with it being red and maybe instead of white on the bottom it had azur blue to make it pop it would totally have a cyberpunk vibe to it. A cool thing that would look very good would be a mix of red and blue, the last car should also be an AMERICAN cab car with red and blue stripes somewhat like caution stripes. I think that would look very good and if I do get the set, I may do that. Overall pretty cool redesign! The green doesn't look that good in the shade it is in.

Yes, I agree that the green did not look good and I;m really pleased with the red r-colour. For a USA-based Lego City, I think your red and blue design would look GREAT. Because I'm from the UK our train designs and set-ups are quite different to yours, in that you nearly always have a driving cab at each end for modern trains, so the USA-style caboose, is never seen over here. (It sometimes makes me chuckle when I see people put a caboose on the end of a Lego Hogwarts Express train!) I hope you manage to get the set one day and make your modifications. So much better , every color were better than the lime ... I dont like the green as well.. But also reason why i not spend 175.- for that ... and that twice .... the recoloring would causes even more costs as well.. I think with all costs comes 350.- 2x trainsets and for all 6 colorchanges sure 50 again.. so 400 at least total.. Thats too much for a lego train wich is in my eyes quite minimalistic and only to make it likeable .. Lego should offer different color Versions , or that you can choose in check out process wich color you want to have. That were more cool...

The red parts only cost name about £9 (UK pounds) so not much, but the train sets are getting a lot more expensive than they used to be, especially now they use Powered Up instead of Power Functions. A long time ago Lego DID let you choose the colour of the train, with the "My Own Train" sets - I think it was a great idea, you got a blue train, and then a pack of green, brown, black or grey bricks to change its colour: brickset.com/sets/tag-My-Own-Train

Orange is a good colour scheme with the black and white, but I'll probably leave it in Red as I already have two of the Horizon Express train sets, which are orange, black and white.

Hi there, Yes, no problem. Below is a link to the inventory of the set on BrickLink. If you scroll down the page, it's all the parts in "Lime" that you need to change. You just need to click on an item, for example the first Lime part in the list is: "Lime brick, 1x2" the list says that it's part number 3004 on Bricklink and you need 8 of them. I full white version would look good, but I already have sets: #60051: High-speed Passenger Train and #7897: Passenger Train which are both completely white, so I didn't;t want a third plain white train, and thought teh red and black provided a better comtrast. Since making the video, the set #71460: Mr. Oz's Spacebus has been released with the large slope piece at the front now in...BLACK! So it would now also be possible to make n all black version! I bought all the pieces from Bricklink.com I just made a “wanted list” with all the pieces I needed, then got Bricklink to tell me which sellers had them. I couldn’t get them all from one seller, but it only took two different orders. I hope you manage to get them all easily!

Yes 7745 was a great set. I can’t find 7772 as a train set number, did you mean 7720? I’ve got 7740 and 7760 which are both still in fantastic condition. Some of the red parts were out of my parts collection, but most I bought from Bricklink.com - but I don’t think I spent more than about £5-£8 on all the parts - I hope that helps.

Questo è vero. Ho visto però in un vecchio video su KZbin di parecchio tempo fa che, il 60051 era con la livrea del 7740. Di sicuro, la cabina che è un pezzo di plastica unica, la si colora di giallo e rosso, e poi si fanno le carrozze sempre gialle e rosse. Prova a cercare il video.

Yes, they don't make that big slope in blue (I wanted to make it in blue originally) but I don't spray my lego, I like to keep teh parts original, and maybe just add some stickers.

That's a VERY good point, which I had completely missed! - Fortunately the actual lights are white, and there are just two light blue transparent bricks in front of them, so they are easily swapped to white. And yes... I know what you mean about realism.... have you seen my two playlists making real trains in Lego? Yes, I didn't think the green stickers looked good with the red train, so I swapped the windows for blank ones. I think I will eventually make white or red stickers for the windows, or use white ones from another set.

I thought the red just made it look smarter, rather than more aggressive. I suppose the shape of the front depends on what sort of train you are used to seeing... this one looks a lot more like a Japanese bullet train, whereas the yellow and blue passenger train is a lot more European in style. well, you'd have 2options... 1) buy the parts in orange but you'd have to do a different sloped front end, as the large slope piece does;t come in orange, only red, white and green 2) save up a lot of money and buy a Horizon Express: brickset.com/sets/10233-1/Horizon-Express (but even 2nd hand ones are over £200... I'm glad I bought two of them, when they came out in 2013)

Because I am an AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego) not an AFOB! I've loved Lego since I was old enough to click two bricks together, I still love Lego, and especially LEGO City. I also Love trains. So I buy LEGO City trains, but I also buy the LEGO creator expert trains (some of which BlueBrixx happily copy, without giving royalties to Lego!) and I also design and build my own trains. (see my channel) There is a HUGE Lego community out there, and I believe that only a small percentage of the fans buy off brand products. BUT... If you get enjoyment from Blubrixx toys, then I wish you all the best. It's the beauty of construction toys, there are so many, and different people like different aspects of them. Personally, it's LEGO only for me!
